5 whole points expiring end of Aug - options?

Help! Just got my resale points and my UY is September. However there are 5 unbankable points that expire at the end of August. Are there any options to not eat these? I know it’s only a few bucks but still...

Not really. You could borrow enough to reserve a night and try to rent that. (Good way to throw good points after bad, IMO).

If the points are not in banked or borrowed status, you could offer to transfer them to another member. Occasionally, people look for just a few points.

My advice is to just let them go and look forward to enjoying your new contract.

It's not unusual to read posts like yours. I don't think there is currently anything you can do with them. But I've just written to MS to suggest a new feature: charity transfer.
It would be great to have the option to "Transfer points to charity". A member would be able to give away any type of points: banked, borrowed, one time use points purchased and then unused, points within the last few months of their use year... no restriction. The points would retain their UY, but once pooled with other members points, it's possible a charity could book a few nights last minute with them. Make a Wish and Give kids the World would be great options. This would be in addition to the one transfer per year per membership.
If others think this would be a cool feature, please write to DVC and suggest something similar. If they get a few requests, they may look into it.

I think that's a great idea... But expiring points make DVC money so for them to be donated to charity, mega corporation needs some way to make it tax deductible and that sounds like a nightmare.

The system is also built on points per year correct? So expiring points would still need to be used by the expiration deadline no? In theory it sounds great but Disney's IT already sucks and is super slow. Imagine 3 points expiring here, 5 there, 8 down the line..... It'd be pricey just in the staff to manage the charity points

Are the points able to be transferred to another dvc member and applied to an existing August reservation?

Good question. The OP said the points are unbankable, I just assumed they were already banked or borrowed. But if they cannot be banked only because they're past the banking deadline and they are current UY points, they can be transfered AND then the new owner will be able to bank them. Rules for banking are different for transfered points, there are reports they can be banked up to the last day of the UY. So the OP would have to find an owner willing to use their unique transfer per year to get the 5 points.

Well I've got a stay booked in August using a few more points than I'd like (I sprung for a night in the grand at the end). If there's a way to apply those 5 points to my already booked reservation I'd give a couple bucks a point. I don't foresee needing a real transfer of a chunk of points this use year since my resale was a loaded contract.

I had a similar situation with my first resale contract. I had the idea to simply offer the expiring points for free to any DVCer who could use them. Before I did, I called member services - and the nice CM I spoke to banked the (unbankable) points for me as a one-time courtesy.
