DH and I own a gymnastics school in Illinois. We are taking 5 of our teenage gymnasts to Florida for 4 days in February for a competition. We will have 2 full days to sightsee, etc. We do not want to do Disney World but we will be doing a couple of resort dining things.

We want to do a theme park....which one for teens, Busch Gardens or Island of Adventure/Universal?? Or am I missing something?

Also, what else in Orlando/Kissimmee would be fun for them? We though of La Nouba as well.....any thoughts???

Universal would be fun or SeaWorld. I saw lots of teenagers at Islands of Adventure since it has lots of thrill rides.

Have fun and good luck in the competition!

I think either IOA or BG would be great my teen and pre teen love both.

Good luck at the competition.

ya know...when i saw the title to this thread the only thing that came to my mind was "God help this woman!"

seriously. we took our 16 year old neice on our recent WDW vacation (along with my MIL, her grandmother who she is very close to - lives with along with her mother and sister) and can i tell you that by like day 3 i wanted to grab her by the shoulders and shake her?!?!?!?

homesick, period cramps and mood swings, missing her boyfriend....every emotion immaginable left to go like she had no self control over them. i could see some of this, but it's not like she was away for a month or a year, just 8 days and it's not like she was with strangers or distant relations....we have practically raised this girl. I tried to think back to my own teen years, but i don't recall being this much of a Drama Queen. Holy Cow! she had to be in full blown sobbing tears at least 5 times in the first 4 days at the least. Never again.

that times 5???? you are a saint!

The first thing that came to my mind when I read the title was "Buy LOTS of Tylenol for yourself"

Actually, I have been on several trips with these girls over the past 7 years. I spend about 20 hours per week with them as well. I am not too scared!! I also take 18, eleven to seventeen year olds on a camping trip for 4 days every summer!!! I don't have kids of my own, can ya tell???

But seriously, these girls are highly trained athletes and very disciplined. I am not too worried!!

just came back with 2 teens and they loved islands of adventure and la nouba they wanted to see blue man but we coulden`t get tickets in time they really wanted to see that, maybe your girls would enjoy it. also they loved blizard beach. good luck!!!:)

Universal do a 2-park one day ticket which gives you the opportunity to do the best bits of both parks. If you only have one theme park day I'd have said this is your best option.
:thumbsup2
