I'm horrible at making decisions. I need help.

We finally bought into DVC this year. After years of begging and pleading, I finally convinced DH DVC was the way to go. He's not a big Disney fan, but does like going on vacation. We were married at the wedding pavilion and honeymooned at AKL so he should have known what he was getting into, right?

Now, when he agreed to do DVC, he stated "I don't want to do the parks every year." So, alas, I compromised and agreed. My question now is, we are scheduled for our first visit to Kidani this October. We will be there 6 days. I know DH would really like a resort day and honestly, after reading the activity sheet, we easily could make a fun/relaxing day at the resort.

Do I get five day or six day PH tickets? Five or six day regular tickets?

I'm leaning toward doing the 5 day package to force myself to stay at the resort for a day because I know it'd make him happy. But then panic sets in and I think "we're down here, why not do a park everyday?" Help!

My DH would do the 6 day and force me to go! :rotfl2:

I like a day off at the resort.

You could always buy the 6 day and let him sleep in and head to EMH Morning for you return to the resort and spend the rest of the day with him.

:thumbsup2

Have you thought about getting 10-day, non-expiring tickets? They would allow you to users many days as you'd like over a couple of trips and the cost-per-day would be less than with the 5- or 6-day tickets. We now get them for our college-age kids who can't stay with us for the whole trip.

Hopping is really up to you. We always hop but others do not. Which fits your touring style best?

Because of it being F&W time, you may want to check out the offerings in Epcot as far as Eat to the Beat concerts. Sometimes Undercover Tourist tickets include "an extra day free" so check them out.

I could spend 2 days at AKV without thinking of parks. Best wishes as you and your DH decide. I would get the hopper though, because of F&W. DH and I really enjoyed a cooking demo last year.

I wouldn't trust myself to keep them safe. I'd rather do the AP but DH doesn't want to go back within a year period. :( Great suggestion though.

See, I've thought of that but will all of our dining reservations I feel somewhat tied to be at a particular park on a particular day.

We do have a couple of resort dinners planned. Sanaa on Sunday and Boma on Friday.

See how difficult I am!

i would buy the 5 day non-hopper initially. after you have visited the parks (but before you leave :)), decide if you feel you need the additional day and/or hopping. you might decide to do a resort day at the beginning of your stay, so i would definately only buy the minimum days initially. if you find yourselves only using a few days, consider doing as mousemom said, and upgrade to a 10 day no expire. (if you are buying from a discount broker like UCT, just remember to use the pass at least once before upgrading. GS will bridge your pass to the WDW pass price then upgrade, so you keep the original discount).

personally, we spend a lot of time at our resort (mostly BWV), play a lot of mini-golf, go offsite for shopping, etc.......but we will still go to a park at night - especially during the F&WF (and anytime for a grey goose slushie:blush:).
even better would be to plan to take another trip with a year, and get the DVC discounted AP :rolleyes1

eta: we were posting at the same time :) it is always advisable to make a copy (or two) of the back of your passes. you can keep the passes in your jewelry box, and the copies with your banking stuff, in a side posket of your luggage, etc. also, take a photo with your cel phone, and upload a copy to your PC.

I agree with MouseMomx2. If you are afraid of misplacing the tickets. Do what I do. Scan the tickets and make an adobe or jpeg image of them (back and front). If you lose them you have all the information for Disney to issue new tickets with the remaining days.

I voted 6 day PH. There is a negligible difference in price between a 5-day and 6-day day ticket, so I would err towards covering all days. You could still do a resort day one day and hit F&W in the evening. You will probably find that you just want to hit Epcot for a couple of hours in the evening to try different foods or catch the entertainment. If there were a bigger gap in the price between 5 day and 6 day tickets, it might be a bigger issue.

The 10 day no expire is an interesting idea posed by others. It looks like the 10 days MYW with no expiration is a little more than double the 5 day MYW and the 10 day hopper with no expiration is less than double the 5 day hopper.

Enjoy Sanaa -- that is one of our favorites!

My thought is for you to take the five day and use a day in the middle of the vacation for a RESORTS DAY! This way you can both begin your trip with parks and end with parks. Enjoy the parks from the perimeter! I did this with my DS and DSister this last trip and they were so impressed. We enjoyed our hotel for the morning, longs walks, breakfast by the lake, swimming. Then took bus to Hollywood and immediately took boat to BWV. Wandered, had early lunch at Kat Koras, went to the arcade. Then later ventured by bus to MK and took the boat to Polynesian. We got To see the electric parade begin its route while on the boat. When we got to the poly we got drinks and hung out on the docks and waited for wishes to begin. The music was piped in so we got to see it from another perspective. My DS watched Lion King on the beach and we just enjoyed a non park day to what I believe was one of our best days on vacation. Definitely memorable! Good luck to whatever you decide. You will have a good time regardless.

I agree with the other PP - you can always upgrade once there. So if you are unsure - buy the 5 day non-hopper now. If you get there and you realize you want to hop, or realize you want to hit a park on day 6 - upgrade then.

We would do 6 day for such as small difference in price. But we are also likely to walk into EPCOT for an ADR and Illuminations and that's it. Course staying at BCV helps-not sure if at AKV, partly why we never stay there I guess. Heck I would just go to Fantasmic even one night for that price.

You now have to guarantee you get 3+ trips from a NE ticket to be worthwhile.

10 day NE is $593. Or buy (2) 5 days for $536
With hopper they are the same, $650. So why let Disney hold extra money at 0% return? (or if you are worried about price increases, buy both 5 day hoppers now, and if you want to upgrade on the next trip you can. NE tickets cannot be upgraded 14 days after the first use)

For the hopper or not, it really depends on how you tour. You can plan a nice trip without hopping, but you have to align ADRs with recommended park days and/or EMH. What do you do on your DAK day when they close at 5pm?
And on a 5 or 6 day trip I usually hop to a few parks to re-do favorite attractions or catch a ride that had too big of a line or was temporarily closed.
I like the flexibility of a hopper, but I may drop it if it meant I could go to a party (MNSSHP or MVMCP) or a favorite meal..

I do too. But to directly answer your questions, we would go back to the resort on that AK day and relax or possibly do EPCOT f&w. Thursday is our DHS day in the morning (we only do a half day there with our 5&6 yo) and the halloween party that night. Honestly, the only day we would hop would be that one day at AK. Hmmm.

I would go with the 6 day Hopper. The difference is about $10 for the upgrade.

You can go to the parks for a few hours and still enjoy the resorts in the afternoons.

Remember, with DVC you will go many times, so you don't need to rush thru it all.

Good Luck with your choice.
