5% off at the Poly????????

OK - so I'm trying hard to give another resort a try…but….my kids are begging to go back to the Poly. I'm fortunate enough to have a PIN which offers a varied discount at most hotels. This is typical, and usually, the discount reflects higher (30%) on deluxe resorts. The Poly discount is 5% this year - what??? I am just shocked! All the other deluxe resorts are 30% - does anyone know why this happened? I've also noticed that the Poly is not even listed as a discounted hotel on the general public offer??? Maybe I'm missing something - anybody?????

It's all about bookings and hotel occupancy. If the Poly is nearly full, versus the Boardwalk which is 1/3 empty, there is much less reason to discount the Poly to draw in folks to fill those last 20 rooms. They'd much rather incite the crowd to fill up the beds at the Boardwalk.

Revenue management in its simplest form.

Agreed -- They probably don't have many more rooms to fill there, which they probably figure will fill.

Keep in mind that even though a resort isn't mentioned by name, it can still be available under the offer. When I got a Game On pin at the beginning of the year, Poly wasn't listed but it did qualify for 10% off rack. However, Poly hasn't been in the highter percentage off bracket in the last year I've been checking. GP offers didn't go beyond 25% for the most part.

I guess they wait until right before to offer any rooms up, hoping to get people to pay the higher rates. I'm hoping for a killer AP discount, but not holding my breath!
