5 Girls and a Boys Not So Scary Halloween PTR ~ 10/10 TR link

I missed the dancing.. Oh well, I'll dance late :cool1::banana::yay::dance3::yay::banana::cool1:

That's awesome about getting to add an extra day at Disney! In fact, I wanted to thank you for your brilliance! I'd been having the same problem with the high airfare on Oct 2nd so when I read that you were staying till the 3rd because it was cheaper to pay for an extra night than the higher airfare I did a little research of my own. Same was true for me! So I added another day to my Wine & Dine half marathon trip too! :woohoo: Looks like we'll need to plan a Dismeet (of course with our luck, we won't need to plan anything, we'll just randomly run into each other)

Woo hoo more great moves... love dancing, late or not!

Yay for your extra day too! Absolutely we need to meet up, and yeah we'll probably bump into you a few extra times too! :rotfl: More on meets coming up shortly --- I gotta try and firm up these things ASAP. :thumbsup2

So a few things to update tonight. Firstly, if you haven't already found your way over to Southwest for their big sale -- go right now! I just rebooked my October 3rd return flight for $80. Yes, that's right $80. It's ok, I'll forgive you if you have to leave before reading any further. Just promise to come back! :surfweb:

Alright, for those still with me.... yes, that's one great price and I gave Natalie the heads up after getting word from fabulous fellow DISer and Spectrum Mom Amy (DisMomAmy). Thanks again Amy! Now to figure out when I'll try to use that credit!! :rolleyes1 Natalie, may or may not have an announcement herself to make shortly...... :rolleyes1

Next, I've updated Ariana's collage to reflect the new return date of October 3rd.

ARIANAcollage-r.jpg

Isn't it just so pretty? I'll have to step up my pop quizzes for her on who is going on this trip. She was doing so well initially that I haven't reminded her lately that Daddy and Alex are not coming with us. Must get that back on track.

Father's Day was an awesome day here and it had, of course, our own little Disney twist to it. ;) We made our own cards!

2011_06170027.jpg

2011_06170028.jpg

Ariana's had Simba with "The Mane Man" written on the front and she signed the inside with a sweet message for Daddy. Demetri's was a pop up card that when opened was a royal crown and a message that read "You rule!" They were a big hit and the kids had a lot of fun with them.

One other tidbit I'll leave for Natalie to tell you all about is a July/August/September countdown calendar she created and sent to me. Gotta admit I was content with our chain until I saw what she'd made.... it's awesome and we'll be putting it on our fridge. :thumbsup2

Alright.... speaking of our chain. I have three movie nights to catch up with you all.

Movie nights!!!

Three movie nights ago, Natalie and the girls came over to my place for some swimming, scrapbook viewing and oh yes, a surprise birthday party my husband threw me! party:

What she also did was rescue our movie night that week because I'd messed up and planned the same one she was doing - Lilo and Stitch. I asked her for her Princess and the Frog stuff and she awesomely brought them so we had a great night.

Our setup....

2011_06070009.jpg

2011_06070005.jpg

2011_06070006.jpg

Our menu was simple... fried chicken and corn on the cob and one or two extras I can't remember now. But these guys should be familiar!

2011_06070011.jpg

Too cute! I love them and the kids thought they were just too fun. :rotfl: Our game was from the Disney Family site - the Princess and the Frog memory game. It was a great way to reinforce the character names for the kids -- each time a card was turned we would say their names. Helped us remember the mean guy who pretends to be Naveen is Lawrence. :thumbsup2 Oh and whenever we turned over Ray, we always said "Don't-make-me-light-my-butt Ray". :lmao:

2011_06070012.jpg

A fun game that lead us into watching the movie.

2011_06070014.jpg

We love, love, love this movie and Tiana and Naveen are one of our favorite meets in Disney. Ray and Evangeline are so sweet :lovestruc and I still tear up when they're united. Yup! A sap I am! Ariana's favorite line from the movie is preceeded by Tiana holding up a single finger and asking Naveen, "Just one little kiss?" To which Naveen replies, "Unless you beg me for more!" :rotfl2: She says it with his accent and everything and always cracks up!

Last but not least, Ariana took the segment of links down....

Another week closer!

Two movie nights ago, I was stuck on what I wanted to do. I'd planned for Lilo and Stitch the week before but I just wasn't feeling it. I wanted to have a lot of fun with that movie - I LOVE Hawaii and all the theming possibilities were overwhelming and I just didn't have the time to invest in it the way I wanted to. So I scrounged around in the stuff I already had and realized I had everything I already needed for a Peter Pan night! We had pirate things left over from our abandoned POTC night and I easily downloaded a few Tink things for Ariana.

Oh yes, firstly I'd like to thank Mike (Daddy of Princesses) for my birthday present. I'd remarked on FB how I really liked his Mickey plates, place settings, etc and wanted him to send me a set. Lo and behold! ;) Alright, not really. I got the set from the Disney Store for 40% off!

Our set up....

2011_06170001.jpg

A mixture of pirate-y gold coins and skulls and crossbones with Tink flowers.

2011_06170003.jpg

Demetri's setting with his pirate hat....

2011_06170004.jpg

2011_06170021.jpg

Ariana's setting with her Tink necklace that was a teeny too small for her but she loved it anyway....

2011_06170008.jpg

2011_06170019.jpg

I'd also downloaded a Tink wand for her and tucked a little note that has one of my favorite quotes on it...

2011_06170010.jpg

Our fireplace adorned with character pictures....

2011_06170013.jpg

Our menu again was pretty simple. Pirate ship pizzas, loaded for Alex and I and just cheese for Ariana and Demetri.

2011_06170012.jpg

2011_06170011.jpg

Pirate's teeth and fruit kabobs....

2011_06170007.jpg

2011_06170006.jpg

.... and our activity for the night was a Peter Pan game I'd downloaded and put together from the Disney Family site.

2011_06170009.jpg

A great night! Time to watch the movie and we had a fabulous time watching an old favorite. We had more gold coins and finished the fruit selection we had as movie snacks.

2011_06170022.jpg

Once again... another week closer!

2011_06170023.jpg

Lastly, now for today's movie night. This is one that Natalie did earlier as well, but this time she didn't have to rescue me with her stuff! I had a lot of fun with this one and our "Under the Sea" theme......

2011_06210027.jpg

I'd gone to the party store and the dollar store looking for things and some were easy to find, while others I had to be a bit more creative.

Our set up....

2011_06210002.jpg

Everything was blue and green to create that under the sea look. It's a little tough to see, but I hung blue and green streamers to our chandelier, then hung fishy and seashell decorations.

2011_06210003.jpg

2011_06210004.jpg

2011_06210005.jpg

More streamers here and there and our usual character gallery on the fireplace....

2011_06210007.jpg

2011_06210006.jpg

... and our table decorations were seashells, Little Mermaid figures we had, a treasure box that King Triton was guarding and various Ariel and Eric toys we had.

2011_06210009.jpg

2011_06210008.jpg

2011_06210010.jpg

2011_06210011.jpg

I'd also found these awesome "bubble" bowls and cups from the dollar store in blue and green that carried on the water theme. They held Goldfish and Swedish Fish and scattered throughout the table items were Seacreature crackers and more Swedish Fish.

Alex, my ever-so-awesome-son made dinner whilst I was giggling away with my theming setup.... seashell pasta and a very yummy meat sauce.

2011_06210013.jpg

2011_06210014.jpg

Our craft was very simple. Paper plate fishies using more streamers. I showed the kids how to make one.....

2011_06210015.jpg

.... and they made all the rest of them.

2011_06210022.jpg

They had a blast and they're staying on our dining room wall in their place of honor. :goodvibes Time for the movie!

2011_06210028.jpg

I've mentioned this before, but this movie holds a very special place in my heart. When Ariana was little and had just been diagnosed and was starting her therapy, this movie played a big role in gaining her trust and acceptance. Her therapists would literally sing to her "Part of Your World" as a reward because she loved the song so much. If you listen to the song with autism in mind and how she just wants to be "part of your world" ... it still makes me cry.

Whew! Anyhoo..... last but not least!

2011_06210029.jpg

Another week closer!

Great movie nights Tracy!! :thumbsup2 I don't think I'll ever be able to hear "Part of Your World" again and not tear up!

I'm so glad you were able to get a credit for your flight!

Looks like you had a nice Father's Day too... The cards are adorable!

So Tracy mentioned that she told me she got her return flight for $80 and as soon as she said that I was hooked :confused3 so I caved and booked the return flight on Oct 3rd, now who wants to tell the school for me :scared1:

Last year my friend Lenora was nice enough to make a countdown calendar for me but I thought I might be pushing my luck if I asked her for one again this year so I decided I could do it myself. When it was done I sent it to Tracy for them to use as well. I think I did a good job!!!

:woohoo: on getting discounted flights and congrats Natalie on adding an extra day!! :cool1: Thought that may be the news.

Love Ariana's collage and you guys sure sound like you had fun on Father's day :thumbsup2

Great movie nights Tracy - love the saying you guys used when you turned over Ray! :rotfl:

Love the new Mickey plates and the Tink necklace.

You guys sure have some great movie night ideas. I don't remember ever seeing The Little Mermaid (bad I know :confused3) but will be watching it soon. I love the food ideas and will be thinking of you when 'Part of Your World' plays.

Great countdown calendar - with that and the countdown chain September will be here before we know it!!

Thanks Amy -- Ariana sang along to the song which shocked me too. Usually she shushes us!

I was so excited when the flights went down. Also thought to myself a little, geez if I'd just waited a few more days.... but what can you do, right? :upsidedow It's great having that credit.

I had to restrain myself from getting all the trimmings! They looked so darn cute though I had to force myself to walk away from the display with just the plates, placemats and serving dish.

Hey Tanz! I just think it's so funny that when budgeting for this trip originally I had to stay within a certain dollar amount to sell my DH on the idea. Now that everythings booked and we've added here and there, he's usually the one to convince me to spend the money!

Fathers Day was awesome - on top of the homemade cards, we surprised George with a kick butt BBQ that he was thrilled about, then we had company with mounds-o-steak for dinner!!

The kids love Tuesdays now. They count down the days and are so excited when I come home and kick them out of the dining room until they're surprised with our theme for the night. Any laughs and giggles I promote with our silliness is stored away in my memories -- woo, sappy moment there!

Hope you enjoy your Little Mermaid movie night!!

Wow, Those are great movie nights. I want to be your kid! I am just not that creative, even with help from online, I would never be able to pull it all together.

Yay for another night. I knew you would cave!

What has happened to Lenora? I haven't seen her here in ages. I think she had 1 or 2 more trips planned, but I haven't seen anything from her. I know she was starting a new job though too...or thinking of.

Great updates!! The calendar is so cute!

Tracy-Love all the movie nights!! It's so funny because we started our monthly movie nights in May (Tangled) and then last Thursday we did.....Peter Pan.:thumbsup2 It was my pick and I just love that movie.:lovestruc We did the pirate ship pizza, fruit sword kabobs as well. We also did corn but we called them gold nuggets.;) Those Mickey plates are so cute! I wish we had a closer Disney store.:sad2:

You could do it, your notes to Claire are awesome! :thumbsup2 Give silly names to dinner items you're already making and create a character gallery like our fireplace pictures. Fun!

Hey too funny on our Peter Pan nights! Did you get those ideas from the Disney theme night thread too? I've been thinking about posting our nights there but they kind of intimidate me a bit... they're so good at them!

Do you have pictures? I'd love to see!

Thanks... it's like the more countdowns I have the faster it goes... or is it just cause I'm so busy trying to remember to mark all the calendars???

Congrats on the extra day Natalie!! :cool1:

I love the countdown calendars! :thumbsup2

Thanks... I still have to tell the school :confused3

Yup, I got the ideas from the Disney theme night thread. I definitely think you should post your movie nights on that thread too.:thumbsup2 You are so creative!:)

Well....since you asked.:rolleyes1 Here are a few pics from our Peter Pan night last week.:goodvibes

We did a treasure hunt, which they loved and then made Pirate hats out of newspaper. It was a fun night!

What awesome movie nights! I love your Mickey plates! I have them too! I had a coupon and was able to get mine for $2.50! I was very tempted to buy the matching silverware while I was in the store yesterday since it was on sale but I had to resist...

How exciting that you both get to stay an extra night now! I too fell victim to the Southwest $80 sale and will be staying an extra night too! I'm still jealous you'll have 11 days though, that's so awesome!:woohoo:

Great deal! I was able to resist the temptation of other matching items .... at first anyway. :rolleyes1

Natalie pointed out to me that the $80 sale was also on for the day before we are scheduled to arrive. She was being sarcastic of course but after my laughing calmed down, I actually did ponder her suggestion.... :rotfl: Her quick reply? "Don't do it!" :upsidedow
