5 Epcot Rumors (A Disney Rumors video is on pg. 6)

Well I know that ratatouille has been a big rumor now. I don't really care if they extend hours in world showcase thats not a big deal to me but the other three why? I think I heard a small rumor about Alice in UK a while back but it has died. Bugs life should stay in AK no reason for it to come to Epcot. If they do anything with the muppets they should expand it in DHS makes zero sense to put muppets in Epcot.

1. Yea the rat is still a pretty solid concept right now.

2. Hours would go to 9 if two big attractions were added to World Showcase.

3. I haven't heard much about WHAT would replace Imagination, but Muppets are living on death row anyway at Hollywood Studios.

4. The Healthy and Body pavilion has been looked at to possibly bring back to the public, but I have no idea what they planned to place in there. Not sure how solid the rumors are though.

5. I haven't heard anything about Alice so that seems pretty far fetched.

Not to be rude or anything to you or your uncle I just don't believe anything for Epcot until I see it because so many rumors have been out there for the past five years and nothing has happened.

But lets be honest there haven't been THAT many Epcot rumors. Not a lot has been planned for Epcot over the years. Its been left to hold its one with food and wine.

All of the movies in the countries are old and not at all exciting after seeing them for the 20th time. Just something new and exciting.

Again, just my 2 cents which I know isn't really worth that. :)

Very nicely put Dennis, the movies have gotten old and kids often dislike Epcot because of them. The France one is probably the worst of the bunch, the Narrator's sleepy voice actually made my dad fall asleep.

P.S. All of us would agree that your opinion is worth way more than 2 cents

Yes but captain EO has been said to be changed for since it was brought back. Universe of energy has been said to change for a while and the imagination pavilion has had a bunch of rumors the last couple years.

You're probably right, Disney does like to stretch out when their expansions and new rides are finished. They don't seem to be in any rush even though Universal's almost done with the new Harry Potter section. But they'll crank out resort expansions at a record pace.
DVC sells like hot cakes that's why they run to finish that.

I think studios is perfect for muppets they should expand or change on it there. I agree on the rest.

Sorry guys, I should have probably went into more detail when describing the Bug's Life movie. It actually has nothing to do with Tough to be a Bug at Animal Kingdom.

I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I believe it has something to do with the human body.

I mean what should we take away from everything we are hearing about Epcot? Well how about SOMETHING is going to happen. New rides are in indeed coming and I said rides with an S. Now whether or not they are good rides is another question.

Well that might work than if it went into the body pavilion.

Hopefully tom Fitzgerald does some big things at Epcot.

I'd love to see EPCOT get some new rides and updates, of course. I'm not a purist, so bring it on. DD loved the Alice ride at Disneyland, though I'd personally prefer a Merida/Brave ride.

I can't imagine that they do not end up redoing Norway's ride to a Frozen theme. Take out that oil rig and put in an ice castle! I know a lot of people love that stuff, but I'm all for what makes DD happy and she would adore a Frozen ride.

But with frozens great success it deserves it's own newly built attraction not just a overlay in Norway.

That's true, Disney had no idea just how big Frozen was going to be. If they did they would have probably nixed the Dwarf ride and made a Frozen ride instead. The ice castle would look amazing on top of a mountain, it could be scaled down like Belle's Castle.

Cant see Alice in Wonderland as a ride in EPCOT. It's a small franchise. Wish they would make future world Star Wars land, and use the space in DHS as Cars Land. I might be wrong but that seems more logical.

Star Wars is technically in a galaxy a long time ago not in the future. I think Star Wars works best in DHS it already has a huge presence there with SWW and star tours.

haha I cant tell you how much the "Star Wars happened a long time ago" debate has been beaten. That horse has been beaten, killed and buried by its overuse. I don't want to get into it but the content of Star Wars is still futuristic no matter when it took place. It is still ahead in the future for us.

It seems as most of us have lost the vision of Epcot. World showcase is not supposed to have Disney movie character rides, exception is three caballeros in Mexico. World showcase is Disney showcasing countries of the world. Adding rides that take away from that makes world showcase less authentic. Future world, adding muppets is no where near futuristic. Yes Epcot needs change but adding Disney characters everywhere makes this another magic kingdom Epcot is the park of the world and the future. What they should do is add more countries, and revamp future world that would set up Epcot for years. Tom Fitzgerald when he accepted the job stated that he wanted to go back to the old Epcot. Adding character rides takes that vision out.

I'm also surprised no one has brought up the hundreds of rumors that frozen will be taking over maelstrom in Norway.

I get the idea that Epcot is supposed to showcase the nations of the world. But I disagree that adding Disney characters is taking away from the authenticity of Epcot. I don't think the Caballeros detract anything from the Mexican pavilion, and I think they should do more incorporation of Disney characters themed to specific nations found in the World Showcase. 1)People come to WDW to immerse themselves in Disney. 2)having characters in Epcot will allow the kids to have something they can look forward to rather than walking around for miles watching their parents eat, drink, and shop around the world. Remy in France makes perfect sense, and though I would not be a fan Frozen in Norway makes sense too. Donald in Mexico makes even less sense but hey it's grandfathered in. I think it would be neat to see Wall-E in futureworld. The key would be that the character would have to be very tied into the land or the theme of the location. Muppet's...yeah I don't see the tie in there. But, once again I don't think having a Disney character in Epcot detracts from the original vision, and I think the synergy is something they should be working towards

These sound all like "Blue Sky" style rumors to me, and while I wouldn't buy any of these without a firmer source. However, I don't mean to Poo-poo rumors since they are fun, but I do like to perform a "reality check", so hear it goes:

1. World Showcase may change their opening time to 9 am

I only see this happening if they get some sort of crowd absorbing ride in WS. Until then, there's no motivation to staff this part of the park that early. The FW section is more than enough to absorb the crowds from 9 - 11 AM. Likelyhood: Low.

2. Imagination building maybe taken over by “The Muppets” (3d movie & a ride)

I could see this as an outside possibility. I think they are trying very hard to come up with a concept for this building that would be a hit. The Muppets are not selling well (the first movie fared so-so, the second worse), but it's a IP that could still work. IF they really were to go all in on Star Wars at DHS - this might be a perfect location for MuppetVision 3_D and a new ride.
Likelyhood - Moderate

3. “Ratatouille” ride put in France
There is legitimately space for a ride here. There is space both behind the area as well as between France and Morocco, so it could be done. Any ride in WS seems well down the priority list as it seems like everything in WS has to be funded by the country of origin...but at least the locale is realistic.
Likelyhood - Low

4. “Alice in Wonderland” ride put in the U.K.
There is absolutely no space in this area unless they take out the Millenium Village center, which is used for many private events. Alice has no sort of popularity right now, and is already represented with the feature attraction of the tea cups in MK as well as a dark ride in DLR. Too out of left field to be true.
Likelyhood - No Way Jose

5. “Inside Out” attraction and “A Bugs life” movie maybe put in the Wonders of Life building (I hope this one's true)
This one is tough. There certainly is something that could be done with this space, but "Inside Out" is several years away, and "Bug's Life" makes little sense to go with the Wonders Of Life concept. Disney doesn't build attractions based on movies that haven't come out yet - with ironically enough "It's tough to be a bug" being the ONLY exception in 60 years. This more sounds like someone's idea of "Hey wouldn't it be great if..."
Likelyhood - No Way Jose

I thinking have Disney characters at a country is fine, if they fit these two rules:

1) Character(s) are not THE focal point or selling point of the pavilion. Characters would enhance and not distract from the country's culture.

2) Character(s) should have STRONG ties to respective country. Remy for France, Frozen for Norway, Three Caballeros in Mexico are all good examples.

You said it a lot more clearly than I did, Thanks this is what I was trying to say
