5 Days, 4 Parks, 3 DIS-meets, 2 ADR’s, and 1 Solo DISer! Done! Finished! Completed!!

I think your nighttime shots are lovely, and those nachos look divine. We had them back in 2008, but they looked different -- everything was separated and you had to put it on yourself.

Wow! You've gotten so much done and it is only your first day! Those Nachos look awesome. Going on the list for next trip:thumbsup2

All caught up... yay me! :lmao:

I love all your food choices... I'm so focused on Halloween that I keep forgeting that we'll be there during the last week of F&W! I will have to sample some goodies...

Hey Heidi!

Nice update! I adore the Cantina; have eaten there every trip so far. Canada show is on the short list of must-do's for Sept.

Was bummed you missed figment; he's adorable, and I love his ride. Even if it's not the orig. that everyone raves about.

I need a favor. Come read my latest update... I need your input and perspective as I've added a solo component to my trip. Scary and exciting all at the same time. Give me your thoughts!!!

I :lovestruc the Mary Poppins mug! So very pretty. Too bad I don't drink coffee or tea.

That is a bummer that the ice cream thing was a let down. :sad2:

I knew you would like that mug! You don't have to drink coffee in it....I hear that it makes water taste better if you drink it from a cute mug :thumbsup2

After I came home I thought to myself that I'd never checked out the ice cream stuff so I'm glad to hear I didn't miss much.

Your shopping looks so fun. I'd have a tough time choosing between those mugs!!
You so didn't miss anything with the ice cream....it wasn't even as good as the Pearville thing that they use to do.

I did think about getting both mugs....but I need to leave something to buy on my next trip.

I'm glad you were able to gwt the tea set. I am thinking the Mary Poppins mug....

The tea set is put away in her closet for safe keeping.

Wonderful update Heidi!!! How much fun are your souvenir pictures!! I love the Mary Poppins mug I might have to see if I can't find one in January!!!! YAY for getting your teapot, when I saw it the first time I immediately thought of you and how excited you would be that you could get it for Danica!!!

Loved your pictures Heidi!! Can't wait for more!!

I was very happy to find the tea pot the first night so I could have it shipped back to the room. I refuse to carry shopping bags around the parks with me.

Mitsukoshi dept store in Japan=sucker of time and money.

I don't think I've ever spent alot of time looking at the detail in the UK probably because I'm usually standing at the bar in the Rose and Crown. I'll be sure to check it out this year.

No MouseGear? Really? Wow!

UK has a lot of neat stuff...you might want to check out the sports store across the street from the R&C.

MouseGear! I know how sad is that?? Well not sad for my credit card or my husband who got sticker shocker on some of the stuff I bought :scared1:

That Mary Poppins mug is adorable! The ice cream thing is so lame, how very sad!

Oh I want those pumpkin head lanterns...... to be able to shop, as long as you want, where you want, by yourself...

now that's vacation!

I think you need to send the rest of your family to a water park or something for the day so you can shop! Family time is highly over-rated when shopping is involved! :lmao:

The Mary Poppins and Tink mugs are adorable. I'm thinking you went with Mary :)

Aurora had one of the better wigs??? :scared1: Thank goodness those are only worn by Disney characters :lmao: Tink's does look worse.

How did you find the crowds this time of year?

Tink's wig looks like it's flocked on with a spray gun. Aurora should get in touch with Brett Michael's wig maker!

I thought the crowd was a bit busier than when we went a month later the year before but I was there the 2nd weekend of Food&Wine and the last weekend of what was originally the last weekend of free dinning.

Hurray for another update! I love that Mary Poppins mug -- I have looked at it a couple of times for my mom.

Aurora had a good wig? :lmao: You always make me laugh, Heidi!

I liked the Primavera as well! :thumbsup2

You know I have a thing about bad character wigs.....I should start a thread on that! :rotfl2:

Great pictures, I love that you got to go by yourself not having to hurry along. That is wonderful. I loved both mugs, now I want them :rotfl:. I love your pictures.
It was wonderful to go at my own pace....I really needed it because I'm such a slave to the kid's schedules now.

Is that picture with the torii gate in Japan is a frightening glimpse at crowd levels? Yikes! That store in Japan makes me get stress induced angina every time I enter it. Too much! A quick peek is so all I need. But I could stand and watch Miyuki for hours.

I think the crowd was just bottled necked in that picture. Mid-week is the time to go to Epcot during F&W...this was a Wednesday....I saw a huge difference on Friday night.

The UK pavilion is so beautiful! :lovestruc Can't wait to see pictures of the tea set you got for Danica!

Denise

Thanks! The Tea set is very cute and I thought reasonable in price at $25.

I had to laugh at the Monchichis. :lmao: I use to love those as a kid.

The wig on Aurora is just awful. With all the money Disney has, can't they come up with a better looking wig. Seriously, most of them are bad, but the Aurora ones always look the worst.

Hi Heidi :wave2:

sorry I got a bit behind in your TR...but I have had a fun catch up journey and you gave me two shout-outs...:lovestruc

Yum Fun. Julie I think you have coined a new DISism!

I wrote it in my trip planning journal...I guess it is cute! It may be a new chapter...

Velkome to Little Germany.

OK this is just classic...:lmao:

Which one do you think I purchased?
The Mary Poppins mug?
100409057.jpg

Or the Tinkerbelle mug?
100409058.jpg

Um....I would have bought both :rotfl2: but I guess Mary for you!

Scrappie-Do--Look!! I found a Pith Helmet!!!! I was about giddy with excitement over my discovery.
100409061.jpg

You are so funny!!!! I love it! It reminds me of the pith helmet the bad guy wears in Jumanji

And don’t you think it would be smart to put a FP machine or two outside for Soarin’….I don’t know why but I detest that walk into that pavilion to get to Soarin’.

I agree..... let's start a petition

100409076.jpg

I always try to get this shot to come out too...

Up next DTD and MNSSHP on day 2.

looking forward to more....

and thanks for the HM link...need to get the kids from school but I will come back and look at it more...but Margaret thought the ghost in the intro was pretty funny!

Scrappie Do ~

You might be on to a really good idea there....hmmn. Can one really have a solo day (or an afternoon) on a trip with 8 other people? It sounds just lovely.

I was on a bus by 9pm and chatted with DH on the phone during the ride. I found that I missed him in the late evenings during my trip.

That was when I'd miss my family on business trips...the phone chats always helped

My vote is for the Mary Poppins mug. Both are really nice, though, I love the silhouettes. :goodvibes

I feel like I'm learning so much from reading your trip report! You have some great suggestions for solo travelers. I'm not hinting, I swear, it's just something I thought of since your trip. :thumbsup2

You can definitely have a solo afternoon when on a trip with other people. I booked myself a Keys to the Kingdom tour last year when I went with my whole family. It was wonderful. A perfect little break in the middle of all the family craziness. I highly recomend it!

The bride & groom Monchichi dolls are so tacky that I want them! Love it!

And that Mary Poppins mug is awesome!! I like the other one too, but I'm more partial to Mary Poppins. :goodvibes

Aurora has a good wig, eh? :lmao: I'm with ya though, a bad wig would kinda take away from the whole illusion. Even in pictures sometimes I can tell some of those wigs are bad, bad, bad.

Sorry to hear the ice cream dealy was lame-o. :sad2:

And don’t you think it would be smart to put a FP machine or two outside for Soarin’….I don’t know why but I detest that walk into that pavilion to get to Soarin’.

100409068.jpg

That is a GREAT idea about Soarin'!!! I don't like the trek in there either, especially with a stroller/little one, because you can't take the stroller beyond the front doors!

Those nachos look sooooo good. I might have to give that place a second try.

I also enjoyed your carpy nighttime photos, love that fountain!

All caught up! Looks like you are having a great time! I love the mugs! I wouldn't be able to just pick one!

Can't wait for more!

I'll be back to respond to all of your comments....but let's get to Day 2!!

10/01/2009 Day 2 Thursday

I was awake for the day by 6am so I decided to read in bed for an hour. What a luxury that was!

Rock Inn in the morning…

Main Pool
100409080.jpg

I got hot water to make a cup of tea (bags that I had brought with me). Warning! That water is HOT. Burned my tongue. I ended up tossing it and getting a Diet Coke….which would be a daily thing for the rest of the trip since I refuse to drink Nescrap.

Remember little 3 yo Ben from the ME bus? Well I ran into him and his Grammy. He was still very confused that I knew his name and was even more confused when I said that I knew he was going to the Animal Kingdom that day. If Mom isn’t a DISer, she should be. Little Ben was in an outfit that one of us would dress our kids in for a day at AK. (Grammy confirmed that I was correct).

I had just missed my bus to DTD but that was ok because I still got there before 9am when WPE opened. So I took some pictures.

WPE.
100409085.jpg

I got the breakfast pizza
100409086.jpg

A side of potatoes and a pineapple/orange juice.
100409087.jpg

OMG! I have been craving this breakfast pizza since I had it. It was so good. It blew any food court breakfast out of the water!

FYI: WPE now does take-out.

My plan of hitting WOD early worked. But I ended up buying a watch and the time it took to get it fitted took up a lot of time and WOD was already busy before I was able to check out. Next trip I’m going to try shopping on a Monday or Tuesday.

I took this pic for MrsKSomeday –Tracy because she loves Up.

100409088.jpg

I have no more pictures of DTD…..I did some major damage and didn’t have time. Pictures of the loot are not in Photobucket yet so it will have to be at the end.

I will give you totals just don’t tell my DH!!

WOD $183.56
WOD $81.48
Tren-D $93.84
Once Upon A Toy $45.92
Days of Christmas $16.94
(I got my Disney Visa at all but the Christmas store because I didn’t spend enough.)

I was going to have lunch at the EOS but I have never since a line for food that long in all my life. I thought about eating at WPE again but decided to just head back to ASMu. I should have eaten at WPE.

I totally forgot how bad the bus from DTD to a resort it. It basically sucked. After waiting for the bus at the Marketplace in full sun, we stopped at the West Side/ PI stop, then stopped at every red light, then we had to stop at one of the water parks, then ASports, finally Music. A full 45 minutes. I should have taken a taxi.

Lunch was a Turkey and Muenster sandwich. This was meh. The turkey was good and fresh, but the bread was tasteless and too thick. I won’t be getting this again.

100409089.jpg

Then I stopped at the bar to take a Pina Colava back to my room. I thought I would like it. I didn’t. If you can believe it, I actually like the non-booze one better. Go figure. I think that drink was one of the few things I didn’t get a photo of because the bartender was chewing my ear off as I was trying to leave. Hello. I. Did. Not. Sit. Down. For. A. Reason. The drink was half melted after I had to explain the whole Wishes Dessert Party thing to him.

By 2pm-ish I was back in my room for a rest before the Halloween party that night.

100409090.jpg

My goal is to have my MNSSHP pictures up for you tomorrow for Halloween….we’ll see if I can manage it!

Great update Heidi!! That breakfast pizza looks amazing...so yummy!!! OOOH you did about as good as I did at DTD...I went a little shop crazy on the trip in October. Hopefully I have gotten it all out of my system for January!!!

Love the UP merchandise!!!

Can't wait to hear all about MNSSHP LOL!!!

That breakfast pizza looks ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-mazing. :cloud9:

Can't wait to see all your souvenir pics. You always buy such good stuff!

Too bad you didn't like Pina Colava, I loved the ones I had. Have you had a non-alcoholic one before? I might have to get one of those in January because I really like them but can't have alcohol anymore since my surgery.

Fun update Heidi! I'll have to try that breakfast pizza! Yum!

I have to tell you a funny story! My husband was in Orlando this week on business, he is home today. (I know, how could he not take me? right? Well, we just got back from Europe so I had to work.) Anyway, I told him about your cool mugs that you posted, the Mary Poppins and Peter Pan mugs on the phone this week. Anyway, he went to DTD to get me the Peter Pan one! Isnt' that the sweetest thing? I just had to share that with you!

Great update, as usual. I'm another one who loves me some time at DTD. It never seems like I have enough time there! WPE looks like a great place to try. I didn't even know they served breakfast there, and it's great to know they do take out now.

Good to hear an honest review of the sucky bus system. 45 minutes is ridiculous to go about what? 5 miles?

Although the sandwich looked good, the bread did look kinda thick. Dry and no taste too, bummer!

Interesting you liked the no-booze drink better. I wonder if they make them differently, or if it's just the wrong flavors for the alcohol? :confused3

Excited for the party pix!!

Oh, that breakfast pizza looks sooo yummy!!! I had no idea that WPE did breakfast! Good to know.

You aren't kidding about doing some damage at Downtown Disney! What all did you buy?
