Can anyone tell me if my calculations are correct. If I buy the 5 day park hoppers no plus from Disney today it would cost me 885.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 3-9) 882.00 for tickets + 3.00 for mailing=885.00
If I buy Magic Your Way Tickets for 5 day park hoppers it would cost me 867.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids 864.00 for tickets + 3.00 for mailing=867.00? :charac2:

I don't quite understand it yet..I need to purchase for five days...four adults and three children...and now I don't even know if renewing my own annual pass is a good option or not any more

I got 836 plus tax for the new 5 day MYW tickets, but that does not include the no expiration option. These new tickets expire 14 days after first use unless you add the no expiration option. Adult base 5 day tickets are 193.00 Kids are 155.00 and then you need to add the PH feature for each of those which is 35.00 per ticket. If you wanted to add the no expiration feature it would be an addtional 35.00 ticket.

I'm not coming up with the same figures as you.

2 adult base 5 day = $193 x 2 = $386
2 child base 5 day = $155 x 2 = $310
-------
$696

4 park hopping = $35 x 4 = $140

$696 + $140 = $836

Tax: $836 x 1.065 = $890.34

I'm coming up with a price of $890.34.

And that price does NOT include the non-expiration option.

hmm, so it appears that I wasted money because I bought 5 day adult PHP in advance  Guess I will wait and buy the kids tix after Jan 2.

Actually, advance purchase for 5-day with hopper is $221 for adults and $184 for kids. So that would only be $810 plus tax.

I am figuring this for my family of 4 right now, too - bless03ings is correct that right now an advance-purchase 5-day Park Hopper w/out plusses is $882 for 2 adults 2 kids, plus the $3 for mailing makes it $885 (thru Disney).

5-day MYW Park Hoppers w/out plusses and w/out the no expiration feature would cost $863 for the same family; add the $3 mailing fee and it's $866.

THIS is why I am considering buying 5-day Hoppers instead of 4-day Hoppers, because comparing a current price 4-day Hopper to the new MYW 4-day Hopper, the MYW ticket is more expensive! I guess the savings only kick in for tickets of 5 days or more..... Unless I can go ahead and buy my tickets before Jan. 2, the 5-day Hopper is the way to go. Unless of course you don't need to hop....that's a whole new ball of wax!!

TXMommy, where are you getting the prices from? What is your breakdown of adult and kids prices?

Use one of the days on each Hopper pass, and put those passes aside. Buy Magic Your Way passes for the rest of your trip. Years later you can use the rest of the Hopper passes when prices have risen due to inflation (use them as-is, don't apply them to the price of new passes).

TXmommy - I looked at your calculations -

You added tax for the MYW passes but not for the current park hopper passes.

Lets take our Family of 2 adults and 2 children

Current PH no/plus (advance purcahse)
5-day
$882 + tax + shipping = $943
4-day
$776 + tax + shipping = $830

Compared with the MYW (no plus, expires after 14 days)
5-day (advance purchase)
$810 + tax + shipping = $869
4-day (at the gate - no 4-day advance purchase)
$806 + tax + shipping = $862

So our family saves $74 using the 5 day MYW, but the 4-day MYW costs an extra $32. The 4 day costs more because there is not an advance purchase option.

Actually the prices I used for the current Park Hoppers include tax - I just rounded up to the nearest dollar amount. I used the current prices from this website and the MYW prices from Deb's site - had to add the tax in on hers (6.5%). Here's the breakdown:

Current advance purchase 5-day Park Hopper (tax included) : Adult-$244.95, Child-$195.96

New MYW advance purchase 5-day Park Hopper (tax included): Adult-$235.37, Child-$195.96

So, if I do NOT round numbers, it is currently $881.82 for a family of 2 adults 2 kids, and under the new pricing it will be $862.66. That is for 5-day Park Hoppers, no plus options (and no no-expiration feature on the new ones).

Now, the same thing for 4-day Park Hoppers is this: current pricing for same family = $775.32 (advance purchase) MYW pricing = $858.40 (no advance purchase available). That is a difference of $83.08! That is why if you want 4-day Park Hoppers then it is better to buy them now, but for 5-day Park Hoppers it is better to wait.

P.S. I didn't add in the $3 advance-purchase mail charge on any of those figures.

Soooo, the bottom line is- if you only want a 4day Park Hopper ticket , no plusses, no frills, etc. it would be better to purchase in advance under the old system? Trying to get this straigh as we are going in Jan. and deposit on room due Dec. 7th. QUICK QUESTION- At this point right now, where can I advance purchase the old park hopper tickets?
Disney site is down,so can't get them there, called and they can't because computers are down, could I go to the Disney store?

You can purchase the old hoppers until Dec 31.

One more comment to add to the confusion: We will be at Disney for 5 full days (not including arrival and departure days). I had originally planned to go to the parks on 4 of those days with a "rest" day inbetween, MK 2 days, AK 1 day and MGM 1 day. I was going to buy the 4 day hopper passes and if we wanted to go to Epcot we would go for a couple hours after the other park closed. Now I have found it is cheaper to buy the new 5 day pass and if we so desire we can use a couple hours on the "rest" day to go. Even if we don't use all 5 days, I'm still saving money as compared with the 4 day hopper. My calculations are based on 3 adult and 1 child pass.

You sure can buy them at the Disney Store.

You also can go to AAA.

There's also the brokers like MapleLeafTickets.com, Ticketmania.com, and DiscountOrlandoVacations.com

Or, you can try disneyworld.com or 407-WDISNEY later. Their computers might be back up. :)

Ever used the discount brokers? Always went through Disney. Any problems?

I've used Ticketmania with absolutely no problems. Can't speak for the others, personally - but all reports I've read have been good and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from the others I mentioned. :)

Checked at Mapleleaf, only problem with them is that the 4 day park hoppers can only be picked up upon arrival. Would feel better having them in my hand before I leave
