I'm sure this has been covered a ton in previous posts...

Thoughts on this strategy:
1.) Arrival Day
2.) Magic Kingdom
3.) Hollywood Studios
4.) Epcot
5.) Animal Kingdom
6.) Magic Kingdom
7.) Departure Day

I was thinking of going back to the Magic Kingdom on Day 4, as a half rest/half park day in the middle of our trip. However, I'm thinking it might be a nice send off to go to the Magic Kingdom on our full last day. Is that a good idea or do you think it doesn't really matter? We'll be at the Poly so we should be able to see the castle from the hotel. We'll also be going right after New Years.

We always start our vacation with first and last day at Magic Kingdom!!! It is iconic Disney!! There is just something magical about walking up Main Street, walking toward the castle. We stay for the goodnight kiss the first and last night. Mickey says"see ya real soon". We have drippy eyes. A magical way to begin and end a vaxation. It just has become a family memory - a tradition.

To answer your question, it really doesn't matter, but why not start a tradition!!!

We always start and end our trips at MK. This is a husband request but I was able to get onboard. It's a nice way to start and end the magic.

I always like to bookend our trip with MK as well. I would suggest you consider moving your HS day to later in the trip though if you are looking to get FP for SDD as it is currently one of the hardest to obtain(although that may change after the new Tier system), maybe swap with EPCOT day

Love the MK bookends as well, but I hope you have at least a half day resort day in there somewhere or you will need the proverbial "vacation from your vacation!"

We always end (and most times begin) our trips with MK.

We love starting with a rope drop in MK, walking down main street in the morning to kick off our Trip is just magical....

Ending the trip with fireworks at Magic Kingdom just adds more epic'ness to the trip. So yes, I love puttong MK on both ends of our trip as well.
