5 day hopper: which parks in what quantity of time?

It will be six adults and two kids, ages 6 and 9. Here is what I was thinking, using the crowd calendars, but I don't feel this really utilizes the hopper feature very well...

Day one: Epcot
Day two: MK
Day three: Half day HS/half day Epcot
Day four: AK
Day five: MK

Is AK a full day park or should we just plan a partial day for that? How about HS? Ive heard that most people don't feel that warrants a full day...

As far as AK being a full day park, it depends when you are going. Starting Memorial Day weekend the AK will be open until 11:00pm and they will be offering some nighttime entertainment. Rivers of Light, which was supposed to start April 22, has been delayed but they are doing a Jungle Book Nighttime show also.

This is a tough call...I'm a park hopper fan, but with eight of you and planning to hop only one day out of the five, that's quite an expense just to park hop one day. I think I'd be inclined to either hop at least one more day or skip the hopper altogether. One thing you could do is get non-hoppers, then upgrade there if you need to hop.

DHS is usually the park I spend the least amount of time in, but I found I spent more time there my last trip than in the past. If you're into Star Wars, the Launch Bay is definitely worth some time, plus they've added a becoming a Jedi movie in the old "Sounds Dangerous" and there's a lot of Jedi training sessions that you might be able to get the kids in.

My instinct with your trip would be to skip the hoppers, let the DHS be a full or however long it takes day...you could always spend some time at Disney Springs or your resort...plus the ability to upgrade if you really want to.

Hopefully by mid November all the nighttime activities should be up and running at AK. We like having hoppers but it is expensive if you are not going to make use of them. We are big fans of all the nighttime shows, MK - Nighttime Parade and Wishes, Epcot - IllumiNations and DHS - Fantasmic, so we always plan to spend at least one night in each of the parks. Now with all the nighttime activities at AK we will also be spending a night there also. Also make sure to check if there is a MVMCP on you MK days as they will be having those in November.

Don't know if you like getting up in the AM or not, but what we did was we went to the AM EMH park. We rode as much as we could before lines started to build, then moved to another park where we had our FP's. It worked out perfectly.

No more than you are planning to hop and with a large group which can sometimes be indecisive or need more bathroom breaks/rest etc I would skip the hopper. As previous posters have mentioned you can always add it!!

If you have to have hopper (e.g., as part of free dining), I would use it more, and split each day. Do MK in the mornings on party days (7 pm close), then hop somewhere else in the evening. Then do at least one day starting somewhere else but hopping for a late night in MK. One great thing about park hopper is that it gives you extra flexibility, so you can change your plans for the evening at the last minute.
