5 day base tickets - going soon -- questions...

We have a bit of a conundrum. We're going to Dis soon and have 5 day base tickets. We've never been to Dis this long before (a whole week !!! ) We also want to get waterpark tickets when we arrive. We were hoping to hit the Waterpark at least 2 days (TL one day and BB the other) of our trip and give our feet/bodies a rest between parks.

Has anyone here done HS in a half day (evening)? (when it was open late for example) That park seems odd in that some rides run at different times of the day and end by a certain time. Does anyone know which rides those are? I don't have a whole list compiled. It might help us decide.

We'd be settled in our room on arrival day and ready to run by 1pm.

What do you think?

Also trying to figure out which park to spend 2 days in. Epcot or MK? Epcot has the food booths going right now. Wish I knew how good those were (as they just began). With soarin closed right now that's also making us wonder if we really need two days in epcot or if we can get away with just one. For some reason every time I go I always feel like I didn't spend enough time in Epcot or MK.

If it were up to my kids they'd forgo AK altogether but my DSO has never been to Disney before.

Also can anyone tell us if we can take beer (a couple) in a cooler in the waterparks? We're having beer delivered to our room anyway for DSO to enjoy by the pool occasionally.

Thanks!
Tammy

If you plan fast passes, you can probably do DHS in the half day. I would do two days in MK as there is a lot more to ride. Don't skip AK - you will enjoy it esp if the ROL is going on

We have done HS as a half-day in the evening when they had Extra Magic Hours and it was awesome. Right now, due to the Star Wars fireworks, some rides do close earlier than the park (specifically Toy Story Mania); I'm not sure if that will be the case when you go or not.

We easily spend two days at Magic Kingdom because it is my kiddos favorite park and gives us a chance to check out the parades and fireworks as well. I'm not sure how old your kids are so that could determine whether they would want to spend that much time there.

I'm pretty sure you cannot bring any alcohol into the parks. I know you can't bring any glass bottles and I believe even cans of alcohol are not permitted.

Have a great trip!

What is ROL - River of Lights? Does anyone have a link about this. It's been a few years since I've been back to Disney. Must be new....

bummer about the alcohol. It is so expensive in the parks. Plus since we would have it in our room already it seemed logical to just bring some with us (like we do water - but we don't drink it like water per se!)

Anyway you get the idea.... lol

Also. Star Wars fireworks must be new too! Jeez maybe we'll be seeing a few new things after all :rolleyes1

For my DSO EVERYTHING will be new to him....:flower1:

the great movie ride has two tracks they open the second one when it get busy not sure exactly when

I looked up ROL... is that already going on?? We'll be in Dis next week....

No, Rivers of Light isn't running yet. It's supposed to start sometime this summer.

Does anyone know what time the great movie ride stops running on any given day at HS? We've noticed it seems to shut down in the afternoon... not sure if it ever re-opens or not since we are usually out of the HS park before 3 anyway. This time we plan to do a complete afternoon and evening and call that park good!

Thanks for all who are responding! Much appreciated....

We were just there and most of the rides were open until at least 7 if they closed early. They did have closing times posted by Toy Story during the day. Fantasmic was at 7 and 9, and the Star Wars Fireworks were at 8 that night. It's a great show and I would definitely plan to see it as well as Fantasmic. If I had to choose I would do 2 days at MK and one at Epcot. It's the flower and garden festival at Epcot, so there are some food booths but the focus is still on the topiaries and gardens with less on the food. It's beautiful right now. Have a great trip!

Five days for theme parks, two days for water parks.

Situation A -- First activity is a water park, second activity is a theme park, and you are not park hopping. Buy a one day water park ticket. Next day, after entering the theme park (or on the way out that evening), go to Guest Relations, submit the spent water park ticket, your regular (5 day base) ticket and about 5 dollars and you can add water park fun (here, 5 visits, one already used) to the regular ticket for your second water park visit. You don't need a sixth or seventh day to account for visiting the water parks on separate days.

Situation B -- First activity is a theme park. After entering the park, go to Guest Relations and add water park fun to your ticket. Cost approx. $68.

It open April 22

If you are going next week, keep in mind TSMM is closed on the 15th for refurb ( just one day)

Thank you!!!

Also if you do want to add water parks, adding the hopper too isn't as expensive as if you added it alone (someone else I'm sure can chime in with the cost). So you may want to consider adding that if it gives you more flexibility to hit the parks you want each day if you do everything you want at one and want to hop. Also makes planning evenings much easier since you can spend a day in a park and hop, for example to DHS for fireworks or fantasmic.

Does anyone know what time the great movie ride stops running on any given day at HS?

It closes about an hour before the Star Wars Fireworks due to it being in the fireworks fallout zone.

It does not normally close in the afternoons.
