5 become 4 the Pre trip report

Those of you that have teenagers will know getting them to decide anything Is hard work.
Anyway our eldest(18) ,when we booked our holiday was coming, fast forward a few months and he didn’t want to come so after lots of phone calls to various travel companies with a heavy heart he was removed from the booking.

This left me with a lot of worries he is a little bit clumsy and accident prone (remember the arm metal plates etc). My Dad usually stays at our house while we are away so I have roped him in to help. They will now be house sharing(part of me would love to be a fly on the wall for this)
My dad is not the most sensible person on the planet, but I figure between the two of them not too much can go wrong. I am not sure how much of a house I will have left when we return.

So this will be a strange holiday for all of us here our plans so far:

staying behind Jordan and Grampy ( im sure they will feature at some point as i cant imagine both of them lasting 15 days without some disaster!)

my Padometer my friend wants know how many steps we will walk in a day and how many ww points that earns you ( I wont tell her how many points I might have consumed)

Sue,Kevin Daniel and Alex, my SIL and her family they are flying out Aug 1st and staying in a villa for 2 weeks so im sure we will meet up at some point

Karen,Jake,Chris and Sarah Karen is a friend from the preschool I work at and she is going for her first visit but they are not doing Disney.


Monday 2nd of August

Put up all the do/do not notice reminders for Dad and Jordan make sure cupboards are all well stocked
Then make our way to the crown plaza at Heathrow

( I am relying on DH to get me out of the door as this I the bit im dreading) have an early night ready for tomorrows flight.


Tuesday 3rd August

Flight to Miami departs at 11.35 arrive Miami 16:00
Last year we drove straight from Miami to Orlando but our flight was delayed and it was quite late so we found it very difficult to stay awake as the road from Miami to Orlando is very long and boring especially in the dark !!
So,this time we are spending the night here
Holiday inn Miami

So will check in and maybe have a walk along the beach and grab some dinner


Wedneday 4th August

Today we are doing that boring drive and checking into this hotel for 1 night
Nearest universal

(all the hotels, apart from AKL, we have booked using DH prority club reward points so free, one of the few benefits of him being away every week )
No real idea of any other plans for today we will go with the flow
Although Im sure we will be celebrating winning a race ;-)

Thursday 5th of August

Very excited about today a we will be checking into animal Kingdom lodge for 9 nights with free dining we were original booked into SSR again but when Jordan changed his mind we decided to change as it would be sad to go back there this year without him ADR crystal palace

Friday 6th- August Epcot dinner le cellier
also meeting scojo,s (Tracy) for a few drinks around the world

Saturday 7th- Aug- Animal Kingdom dinner at saana
Pompey are away to coventry today so we will be finding out the score

Sunday 8th - Aug [/B]not sure but lunch at chef de France dinner california grill( but think we might cancel this)

Monday 9th Aug- Not sure but have dinner at Raglan road

Tuesday 10th AUG -DHS and dinner at prime time cafe

Wednesday 11th Aug- Typhoon lagoon and dinner Tutta italia

Thursday 12th Aug- No plans but dinner at whispering canyon

Friday 13th (ooer)AUG - Relax all day then dinner at Liberty tree tavern going to stay for extra magic hours and we also have a wishes dessert party booked.
Not bothered if its busy we just want to go for the experiance)

Saturday 14th Aug- check out of AKL and check into Orange lake resort

have no real plans for today but dinner at chef Mickeys (oop)

We are also missing Pompeys 1st home game of the season so I will be lending my season ticket to Grampy so he can take Jordan I shall find out the result from my trusty laptop

Sunday 15th Aug- Today is my shopping day whoop woop I am also thinking of booking Blueman group but shh dont tell DH

Monday 16th Aug- Think we will be paying a vsiit to islands/universal

Tuesday 17th Aug - Today the plan is a break with tradition and we have planned to see Fantasmic on our last night and have dinner at mama melroses
we shall see if we stick to this as we normally watch wishes.

Wednesday 18th Aug- get up early and drive back to Miami ready for our 7.30 pm flight home

Thursday 19th Aug- catch up on Jordan and Grampys adventures and find out if Jordan passed his AS level


So there you have it our rough plans, we dont really do early morning so we so spend till late afternoon at resort using the pools etc and head out for afternoon evenings. we also quite often change our minds and just go with the flow.

It will be a very differnt experiance as we have always all gone together but Im sure Jordan and Grampy will have a few adventures of their own (my sister and her other half have already invited them round for sunday lunch so i know that vegetables will be eaten at least once!)

I can understand your reluctance/concern at leaving your DS behind. Eldest DD is not coming with us next year and will be 18 1/2 then so I will, no doubt, be having the same concerns.

Sounds like a great trip - shame we will arrive after you have left.

You know how I felt before leaving my girls this summer, so I can totally understand how you feel about leaving Jordan behind. All I can say is thank goodness for Skype, as we kept in touch with them most days, so they never felt too far away

You've certainly outlined a wonderful vacation. Looks like you've thought of everything. The only thing I'd add is a pass through The Mercantile when you're at the Wilderness Lodge for your meal at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. It's a lovely hotel gift shop--my favorite. Have fun.

what about friday the 6th we have an adr at lec at 17.40, but we are at epcot am and pm that day, and you said you were trhere friday too.
