5/31/11 -- Chilling on the Wonder

just wanted some info on the fe thing. How many cabins/people? how often do you deliver? is it every night of the cruise? just wondering if I can uphold the responsibility! thanks in advance for any and all responses, lc:worship:

I totally agree with everyone elses answers! We usually only give one gift per cabin. We too have received some very inexpensive gifts and some that cost a little more.

We are thankful for every single one. Just do what you can do! It's exciting just to see a gift in the FE, no matter what it is!:)

I have cried every day since Wednesday as on that day I had to cancel my cruise per doctor's orders. Thanks to everyone who posted that they were thinking of me. It means a lot. I hate that my family will not be on this cruise but am delighted to see that several things that I had reserved were rebooked by fellow dissers.

Well my eyes are tearing up again so I have to go. Take care and enjoy your cruise. I will be keeping up with ya'll from time to time.

So sorry to hear this has happened. I hope to be booked on a cruise with you again soon. I will pray for a speedy recovery.

FE's are a very fun part of our cruises. We usually do one gift per person, but some give one gift per cabin, or one gift for the adults and one gift for the kids. No one keeps a tally of who does what. It is up to you if you "sign" your name to your items. I've given post cards, small bags of candy, tea towels, crayon/book packs...and I've received some awesome gifts: a baggie full of first aid items, calendars, bookmarks, magnets, a machine embroidered tote bag, chocolates... It really depends on you how much you want to spend and if you can get it to port. We are very lucky this time in that we are driving so we don't need to worry about the extra baggage, but it is a real concern for those flying in as this is a Alaska cruise, there will be bulkier clothing and not much room for FE stuff in the checked baggage. I really like the post card idea as it gives me thoughts about traveling to places I've never been.

Chaus, I had the second night on Palo booked so I know that ADR that you booked must have been mine. I am so happy that you got it! Have a great meal and a drink for me please. I will miss eating at Palo.

Anjelica, my family was booked on the Exclusive Dog Musher for a day and that shore excursion was canceled on Wednesday evening. I noticed that you booked your family on that excursion on Thursday. I feel sure that was our reservation so I am so happy that you and your family got it. It will be an experience of a lifetime. Please enjoy it for me!

Knowing that fellow dissers are enjoying these things really helps lessens the pain of not being able to go. I will think of all of you while you are on your cruise!

Oh, I'm so sorry you won't be able to go, but please take care of yourself! I hope you get feeling better soon, and we will be thinking about you!

This is our first FE. I made some stuff and bought others....after DIY stuff for a wedding it takes awhile to bounce back to want to make stuff...:rolleyes1 I've kept stuff pretty compact since we are flying and I don't want it to take up too much room. We will probably only deliver once...just to make it easier. We figure it might be a cool way to see other floors of the ship too. I'm looking forward to seeing what others come up with or just finding "fun mail" through out the week!!!:yay:

Thanks so much for the replies about jeans in the dining room. I have another fashion question: do families dress up for the pirate party?

I am sooo very sorry. I feel awful - I know you really wanted to go on that excursion. I had no idea it opened up because of your cancellation - I will definetly think of you while on our trip.

Hopefully you will recover soon and can start planning your next vacation!!! Maybe even to Alaska and by then you will have all the reviews from other Dis'ers on the Alaska trips (silver lining).

I know this hurts alot but time will help with it. My brother is going with us on this trip - he is actually the reason we booked the trip. He has always wanted to go to Alaska. When he got injured and lost his right leg in Iraq in 2008 I thought the world was crashing in. Now I look at all the time that has passed and it seems like ages ago and things have gotten better. I know its not the same but I hope knowing that serious life events pass (although that in the moment it hurts alot).

Good luck and we hope to hear about your recovery!!!!

We have done it differently a few times now. We have gone full blown costumed and we have gone with just the Mickey pirate ears...never felt uncomfortable or out of place either way. And it's not just for the pirate party. We wear our gear to dinner! Even if you don't have a costume or the pirate ears, bandanas have been provided at dinner on pirate night so everyone has an opportunity to "dress up" on pirate night.

Lots of fun for sure.

Hi fellow ship mates! After our cruise we will be spending June 7-9 in Whistler, and I'm wondering if anyone could offer some advice to a clueless Aussie (ie. me!:confused3) about things to do in Whistler at that time of year. We will have DD4 in toe. After much Googling, I haven't found much that is suitable/operating at that time of year except the Peak2Peak gondola. We plan on spending some time exploring the village, but any other suggestions would be much appreciated!

I'm not sure who to direct this to, but after all the responses and advice, I would like to be a part of the fe exchange. Please advise me of the other participants and what info that I need to forward. Thanks in advance, lc:worship:

Hi lc! Great! Just give me your who is in your cabin and your cabin number. I'll post an updated list soon.:)

We are in room 7130; Adam (43), Lisa (39) and son, Zac (11) Carr.
This is our 5th disney cruise, but 1st time with fe exchange.
I ordered the fe gifts today and bought the fabric for our fe (now to figure out how to make it!)
Thanks for organizing this, lc:goodvibes

As clueless as you are unfortunately. We're staying in Vancouver June 7-9 before flying back to Sydney, and it looks like there are lots that we can do with the kids there (Capilano bridge, Aquarium/Stanley Park, Grouse Mountain, etc). Are you spending any time in Vancouver at all? I did find a lot of good info on the tripadvisor site - so make sure you check that out for Whistler.

Hey Sue, actually trip advisor is the one place I haven't looked (and yet...probably the most obvious! lol) I'll have to do that! It seems it will be shoulder season in Whistler, so many winder activities are finished, and many of the summer ones not open yet :sad1: We have two nights in Vancouver pre-cruise, then straight to Whistler post cruise for two nights, then back to Vancouer for five nights. As you suggest, capilano bridge/grose mountain and stanley park all look they will be great for the kids. I've also heard some good reviews of Granville Island. I'm getting really excited now! Who are you flying with Sue? I (stupidly) booked the cheapest flights with United Airlines...15 hours without individual TVs! :scared1:

Hopefully she will sleep? Phernegan??? Really hope it goes well with your little one. We're going with Virgin Australia via LA - they do have individual screens thank God - but it means having to transfer (to a different airline, Westjet) at LAX :worried:

I believe the Wonder is now on the way to Alaska. It is getting so close.

The Wonder should have left this afternoon for Vancouver. I was in Southern CA over the weekend and was sorry to remember that the Wonder would not be in Port in San Pedro last Sunday. I would have gone by and taken some pics just for the heck of it! Did go by the Disney Soda Fountain shop though!
