We land at 5:30am on a Monday (2:30am to us) BUT we get a whole day!! I am wondering as we are using DME is it too early to expect them to get our luggage and what will the approx time be to get to Pop with morning rush hour after of course a bathroom and Starbucks stop...yes I am from Seattle! :rotfl2:

Magical Express begins picking up luggage at 5 am, so they can take your luggage. I'm not so sure about how much time it will take to get to POP.

i am not sure about the rush hour traffic either, but it shouldn't take too long. Will you have booked a room for the night before, so you can relax, change and take a nap? I find the red eyes tough.
I just want to say, folks other than those from Seattle love Starbucks too!!!. Even on the East coast. Stopping for a Starbucks fix does not indicate you are from Seattle anymore.

Taking the Delta flight, eh? Hope you have better luck with it than I did in Feb and March. Talk about utter, abject misery upon landing....

I saw two Starbucks stores at the airport; there's one in the hub area in the gate area. HUGE line. Then one in the main pre-security area. Big line, but not as huge. They spell "espresso" wrong. (expresso) And they were touting their "Butterscoutch" latte. I keep meaning to send that to HQ, or at least to my friend that works at HQ, but maybe I don't care THAT much. ;)

Rooms aren't slated to be ready for checkin until 3 or 4 (normal reservation vs DVC), so it doesn't matter how fast the luggage gets picked up... But it will be picked up.

Carry a FULL change of clothing (go for two changes) in your carryon, including everything you need to make you feel human again. And sunscreen, swim suit, too. We changed AT the airport, because what was appropriate to keep me warm on the plane was totally inappropriate once we got outside into FL air. :)

Bring a blanket for the plane. If you're sitting in First (still assuming you're on the Delta flight), there will be a blanket, but no real food, in case you were hoping for that.

Have fun!

I don't think rush hour will be a problem at that time. I've arrived around 5pm on a weekday before and didn't encounter any rush hour traffic, so not sure if the route goes with or against the traffic flow during rush hours. But regardless, I would think you'd be mostly before the big rush anyhow.

Once the bus leaves the airport, the commute itself is about 30 minutes. That does not include the time you'll spend waiting for a bus, waiting for the bus to fill, and the time it will take to drop off other guests at their resorts first. BUT considering the time of morning, it may move faster for you. I'd budget about 90 minutes for it.

Arriving at 5:30 AM, I would say be sure to take a nap for a couple hours so that way you could recharge and get the most out of your day, even if it's only for an hour or so. And then you could always get Starbucks at whichever park you plan on going to and if you show up right before it opens, you can get in line to get through the park security first and then bee-line for the park Starbucks. But it's up to you, just a tip, ha-ha

We always try to do the red eye on Alaska Air this year it cones in really early!! No parks that day but will spend the day at Disney Springs and get back before 10pm still only 7pm to us but still a long day regardless even with sleeping on the flight. I guess I am so used to Seattle rush hour traffic I forget not everywhere is that horrible!

You might luck out on the room- I landed at 6:10 am (also from Seattle) and my room was available when I arrived at POR at 7:45. And that timing includes the requisite Starbucks stop!

Staying at Pop might be a good thing. Did you do online check in? If so, they will know when you're due to arrive and hopefully will have a room ready. And yes, DME will take your bags. As noted earlier, they start at about 5am, so you're good to go.
As for how long it takes to get from the plane to Pop goes.....from gate to resort, figure on up to 90 mins. You may find it takes less than that, but better to be prepared. If you stop for coffee, add that time. You won't be allowed to bring the coffee on the bus though. Traffic shouldn't be too big an issue.
