Is anybody concerned about the oil spill affecting this cruise? I didn't think there was a chance it would affect it & haven't been paying much attention. I guess it is a possibility that it could go that far. I think we will be OK, but would hate to miss out on CC or anything because of it.

Has anybody been paying close attention to the situation & think there is a real chance that something could happen?

It is definitely a bad situation & hopefully gets stopped soon. I would feel much better if we were one week closer & the spill is still where it is.

the latest I heard was that there were some oil blobs (I can't think of the word they used) showing up in the Florida Keys. I am not sure how far away from the spill the Keys are? But I think the Bahamas is much further, so hopefully the islands will not be affected. I guess it depends on how the water moves too. It is such a tragedy, I hope they can stop the leak soon !!

There are currently a few threads discussing this. It seems that, currently, the main concern is the Port Canaveral area I guess it's safe to assume that area might be feeling some of the effects of this disaster by the time we all get to Port (hopefully not). The whole thing makes me sad and ill at the same time

I just keep thinking of all the wildlife and marine life that will be lost

We live in southeast LA, about 90 miles from the oil spill. If the wind blows right, we can smell it in the air. What is washed up on Key West at the current time is tar balls which is coming up from the floor of the ocean, not the surface of the ocean. They are being tested to see if they are from this oil spill.

This oil spill should not affect our cruise. The oil that is in the loop current should be getting to Key West by this weekend.

We are constantly watching the local news and are keeping up with it. If we hear of any changes, we will gladly pass it along.

Not to continue on this topic of the oil spill but IF and WHEN it gets into the loop current and that current carries the slick up the Atlantic coast of FL what happens? Does it shut down the ports? Obviously there are many ports on that coast and Port Canaveral is one of them. Would the slick be something the ships would not sail through? Lets hope its not a problem but I am curious about it. What is the status of the ports along the Gulf Coast like New Orleans? Can't wait to get on that ship in a few days... Its cool to say just a few days isn't it?

I feel a little better now. I just read in the Miami Herald that they confirmed that these balls are not from the spill.

I plan on watching her leave today. I was up early enough to see her coming in this morning. I watched as she approached the channel. I even snapped a picture of it from the web cam I was using. Too bad the port canaveral cam wasn't working early this morning. I would have watched her dock at the port.

There were ants crawling on the Port Canaveral camera this morning when I first brought it up. I had it expanded to full screen on one of my monitors (yes I have a dual screen set up at work and yes I'm very spoiled). The ants were making my skin crawl!!

Now I'm just waiting for the Carnival ship to head out (usually late) and then the Wonder will sail off into the sunset! Well, not really the sunset, but you know what I mean.

EDIT: I think it worked! YAY!! The Port Canaveral cam is not movable, but the Raddison and Jetty Park you can control them for a brief period of time. The Wonder leaves at 4:00pm Central (I think).

You people are killing me! I don't have a single thing packed. I am still working on my FE gifts. My FE hasn't come yet from graddy's mommy . Neither my husband nor myself have any shorts. The whole family needs haircuts and I guess I will just have to hide my roots cause there is no time for a color! I had all these plans for MK touring plans, iron-on transfer T-shirts, and door magnets...oh well...all I care about is me, my husband, and my kids leave on a jet plane in 6 days bound for the most magical place on Earth and I can't wait to spend some much needed time with my family! If any of you have any extra door magnets the room is #6536, feel free to slap 'em on and help me feel like the mother I always wished I could be!

Don't feel bad Tara, I have nothing ready either. I am going to have to spend a night (probably up till midnight) organizing my FE gifts, right now everything is shoved into 2 boxes or scattered on the floor. I have at least started thinking about clothes to take and put DH & DS on what I call "laundry restrictions"...they don't put anything on without my approval for the next week and mostly I make them wear old and junkie the week before we leave

Can't believe it is almost here!
Chris and I are very excited and talk about it all the time.
Everything in our house is a complete mess with us moving but the good thing is settlement was moved to June 18 so we have some breathing room after the cruise. But everything is still a mess.

Thank goodness we have DCL to take our minds off of the chaos that is brewing at home.

Can't wait to meet everyone.

Reminder: be sure to pack zip ties to secure your fish extender. Great tip I learned here on the DIS. We don't want them to "swim" away.

Also, I am planning on delivering my FE gifts the first evening so put those FE's out as soon as you can!! I'd like to have my gifts to everyone for the first CC day.

Ok Disers, I need some help here. We have tried fabric paint and glitter glue and neither has stuck at all to the iron on transfer part of our t-shirts. The are Mickey pirate heads so we were doing things like putting earrings on them and our names and they both peel right off! Help! Am I using the wrong kind?? Granted I just picked up the cheapest at the fabric store, but we are getting down to the wire and are looking for something else to work! Help!!
