What is a $99 Bounce Back? Has anyone heard anything about the Wonder's repositioning cruise to CA?
The $99 bounce back was for those who cruised this past winter. I don't recall the specifics, but if you took certain cruises this past winter, you could take a 3-night later in 2009 for $99 per person (same cabin category as your original crusie). What a bargain!!
I too have thought about the Wonder's repo cruise...a westbound. If it's anything like the repo's last summer, it will be 14 to 15 nights with a stop in
Castaway Cay, perhaps Aruba and/or Cartagena, as well as Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo. We loved the repo cruise and would really like to do it again, but may have to leave the kids at home to save some green!! The Panama Canal cruises sell out quickly, so you have to watch for when the 2011 cruises will go on sale. Disney usually announces it two weeks ahead of time and then on the first day of booking, call, use a TA, get online as soon as the lines open that day and try to get that cabin. It's quite a frenzy! We got our cabins on the day they came out for our EB repo cruise last summer.
The only thing that may tempt us out of it, is the opportunity to cruise on the new ship!
So, I am thinking of doing the FE thing, have never done it before. looked at Fe's on ebay, thought they were alittle expensive w/ shipping, so may try to make it myself. I have a whole year to experiment !!
Now I need to know what to bring to put in them....and how many do I need to plan for. I assume I would just plan for the people doing it on this board. I'd like to do something practical and something cute, please help with ideas !! I think DS would love this, little presents outside his door, and sneaking around to others to give presents like Santa.
alittle off topic, but has anyone on this board been to Universal Orlando? We are going in June for 5 nights and I am looking for peoples opinions on the parks and restaurants, etc... I know it is not Disney, nor the GF or Narccossee's (all our favorites). I am sure we will have a good time, just not sure what to expect. I am not a roller coaster rider, DS will probably be too small for most anyway. did I mention my mom is coming along? (my daddy passed away in January at age 64, so DH and i asked my mom to come this summer and on the cruise. She didn't want to stay alone in cabin on cruise, but decided alittle time away would be good this summer.) My mom and dad did come with us to WDW for DS's 3rd bday, they both had a great time and my dad was not a vacationer. I think she will be okay, she is pretty go-with-the-flow. Any input will be appreciated !!
As far as ideas, you can do anything you want. On ours, there was anything from candy, stickers, postcards, temporary tattoos, pens, pins, CDs with Disney music, pirate stuff, door magnets, ground coffee, mickey antenna toppers, etc., etc. We ordered inexpensive pens that were customized with the dates of the cruise and the DIS thread name on them.
I have no idea how many will ultimately join and sign up for this cruise, but you don't have to give something to everyone. For our cruise, there were about 130 participants, but that may be on the high side. There's actually no obligation to hand out anything if you prefer not to do that, but most do.
With respect to Universal -- we went once and did both parks in one day during Spring break week and left about 5:00 p.m. Haven't had the desire to return, but we will return next year after the cruise to see the new Harry Potter land at Universal.
There are some excellent coaster and thrill rides such as Hulk, Spiderman, Mummy and Dueling Dragons. I enjoyed the Studios better than Islands of Adventure, as I liked the earthquake attraction, twister, jaws, Men in Black, Jimmy Neutron, Shrek and Terminator 3-D.
Overall, it was a great diversion, but it seemed more for older kids and teens. I can't help you with the resorts or restaurants themselves, but I've heard good things about the resorts. I'd eat at one of the restaurants outside of the park in their nighttime area such as Emeril's, Jimmy Buffett's, etc. I like the fact that if you stay at their resorts, you get free front-of-the line passes. We are just Disney people and tend to be a little biased which is why we haven't returned.
