our day at MGM. I remember loving this park on our last trip (our honeymoon, 9 years ago). I also was REALLY looking forward to fantasmic....I even had a PS at the H&V with the tickets for fantasmic to assure I would be in and not have to wait hours to get in. So we got there at opening as usual. they let us in about 8:45 and everyone gathered up at the corner of H&V....I was waiting of the opening show as I finally had a view of one...we all waited 15 minutes, cameras in hand and then.....they just dropped the rope...no show at all. strange

anyway, off to R&R roller coaster adn tower of terror. Figured we would get those out of the way while the crowds were low as we would have to take turns....I got in line immediately and my wife pulled a fast pass with my sons card (to use herself)...then she ran to ToT to get passes for us there. I was in the first crowd going in and by the time my car got there, I had to wait fo rthe next cause someone threw up on the car....threw up already? that didnt take long. Great ride, first time on it.....but it seemed like it could have been faster....the people i rode with said it seemed slower than usual. wonder why?!?! Then my wife got on with her fast pass and my son and I got a drink and took some pics...she was back in no time at all. I went on ToT first....the fast pass line was as long as the stand by....it just didnt even make any sense...took me 40 minutes to get on with a fast pass.....Ive been on this ride before and I love it. When I got back, my wife opted not to go because of how long it took....said she didnt really care....so we headed into the park. we went on the backlot tour, my son loved the part where the truck blows and the flooding comes down and so on. Had an early lunch at pizza planet, since we had such early reservations at H&V. my son was in heaven, he knew exactly what he theming was all about, then we met the toy story gang out back at als toy barn. Son meets his favorite character buzz...priceless. Muppets 3D up next....as usual, son with closed eyes...at least he didnt really care, he just didnt watch. I grew up on the muppets, what a surreal feeling to sit in a theatre just like theirs...old guys in the balcolny and all. I liked the show, but the most 3D effects where with that little character that isnt a muppet at all. fun nonetheless.

we headed to playhouse disney....now this brought a tear to my eye...watching my son get SO excited, sing along, get up and dance....one of those special moments that will never be forgotten (especially since its on video :smooth: ). The only complaint I have is when you are up front, you really cant see the characters on stage very well....too bad the floor isnt sloped or stage lower or something. But it didnt matter, my son was in heaven and that makes it all worth it.

the rest of the day we went into different rides/shows such as mermaid, great movie ride (loved that), the walt disney history movie thingy, etc. Our H&V reservation was for 4:30....so we pulled fast passes for indiana jones for about 6:15 or so and then headed to dinner. Now the lack of the daily nap was taking its toll...the boy was getting nasty, I was cranky and therefore my wife was cranky....but the 4:30 reservation really killed any chance of a nap. I really wish they would make later reservations for the dinner package.

well, it may have been my mood, or something else, but I was NOT impressed with H&V....not at all...this is not to say the food was bad, but it wasnt NEAR worth what I paid and the decor of the restaurant left a little to be desired. I would not eat there again, thats for sure. But I had my fantasmic ticket so I was happy....we headed to indiana jones. Great show...we all loved that one.

we shopped a bit then headed to fantasmic about 40 minutes prior to showtime....had an ok seat and enjoyed some popcorn and beer (not the boy, he had water)

so the show starts and its as impressive as I had hoped it would be...but halfway thru it starts POURING....so they cut the show at the part when belle and the beast come out on boats.....and thats it....we wont see the finale

everyone starts RUNNING for the exits...Im thinking, ummmm...what are you running for, you are already soaked, how are you gonna get MORE wet....but nonetheless...pushing, shoving, anything to get out....we had ponchos and were in no hurry. We got he first boat out

if you have wet hands, its hard to hold on during a bus ride if you are standing....just keep that in mind ;)

so we get back to POFQ and guess what....bone dry....no rain there all night...and then the epcot bus pulls in...everyone on it? you guessed it....DRY....apparently it only rained over MGM.....

now I have to go back to WDW some day to see the show....oh, the horror of that :)

off to bed, tomorrow we have a fairly lazy day....its our ninth anniversary

Thanks for posting,

I guess you can call the rain that day, scattered showers.

We were at MGM on 5/29 and thought that Rockin Rollercoaster was slower than usual - not the take off - but around the track. I wonder why?

my then 3 yo meeting Buzz at MGM. He was almost beside himself while we waited for our turn and got so worked up (not crying mind you but so excited) that Buzz actually came away from the front and walked over to him so that he could meet him one on one. Priceless. And watching him dance and sing at Playhouse Disney is one of those moments you never forget.

He's now 6.5 and "too old" for Playhouse Disney. But we're *hoping* to go down the first week of December with him and our then 2.5 yo and we'll see who's too old!

:wave2:

We were at MGM the same day you were-- we were wondering what the deal was with the long line in the morining ar RnRC.

We were also at H+V around the same time you were-- we actually liked it, though.

I was really upset with the Fantasmic rainout-- we got rained out both times we tried on this trip. You should see my video of the show from this day-- the B&B boats come out, then you hear me using some very un-Disney words and saying, "It's raining...". The video ends there. :)
