5/27/06 "Il pochi il fiero i blabbermouths" We *will* sail again

That's why I try to always do my shopping without the kids! ack! (either while they are at school or while they and DH are sleeping- that's my favorite time.. less people in the parking lots and in the store too. LOL)

HEYYYYYYYY... have to share.
I haven't been reading this board much the past few months- mostly because it's kinda depressing that we had to cancel our long awaited (over a year booked ahead) Feb 2005 cruise and rebook for June 2006 (another year and a half later...). *wah* (but I'm excited about this cruise and ofcourse that so many DIS'ers are going to be there too!)

But anyway, I was reading last night and noticed all the changes- like photopass (sounds way cool! I can dig it) and the magical express (transportation from airport to resort/and back again- starting in May) and the ticket changes (although those don't really effect us at this point since we have left over non-expiring days and plusses on our park hoppers anyway)... but I got the bug again. You guys can relate, right? LOL I just can't wait until May/June 2006!!! I just can't. And besides, with this cruise when it is- the kids will get out of school the day before this cruise- so we'll fly out that night and do the cruise starting that next day ofcourse. Well that messes up our ORIGINAL Feb 2005 plans of going to stay at Grand Floridian for a couple of days/doing MK and other parks, etc. and THEN going on the cruise. I don't really like the idea of doing the parks AFTER the cruise- which is what we'd have to do with the May 2006 cruise......

SO, I got the idea of going to just the parks (no cruise) BEFORE the cruise. What a great idea, right? But DH isn't all that thrilled with the idea- he doesn't like Disney (thank goodness our kids inherited the love of Disney from me. LOL especially my youngest....) and only tolerates going as little as he can get away with. LOL
BUT now the kids are older- I'm thinking maybe I can take them with me! (he was thinking I was going to ask for another solo trip. LOL My last solo trip was Halloween 2003 and our last family trip was Thanksgiving 2003- so long ago! Seems like ages. LOL)
But if we go oh, say this June (when my youngest turns 5)-- they'll be 5, 7 and 11... I think I can handle that! It won't be the same as before... with a young one in stroller/etc. My youngest daughter will be about the same age as my middle child (son) was our FIRST trip (Dec 2002- he'd just turned 5). So she should be able to ride most rides and the ones she can't- we'll either skip those or I can just let the older two ride together? Or MAYBE the 11.5yr old (at that time) could do the "parent swap" with me with the youngest on some? Will think about that later... but I think I can handle it. There won't be diapers, strollers, nothing like that anymore. (atleast not strollers I have to bring- not saying I might not have to rent one at times if she gets tired of walking LOL)

I'm pretty excited.. now I can focus on planning this trip! And just had to share with you guys- knew you'd understand. LOL

I've heard about the dining option- but I don't think that's a good price for us. We just don't eat that much to make it worth the money. Does NO ONE sell meal vouchers anymore? I had heard they were history. I liked to have a few of those for more expensive meals (like VKL vouchers is basically all we used- or sometimes other vouchers used at Pepper Market or something). Are the vouchers really gone or is SOMEONE still selling them? (they'd have to not expire before June when we'd use them). If they are gone, I'm bummed. But I'll get over it. LOL Let me know?

Sounds like a plan!

Honestly, we have been so close to Disney for the past year and a half, and have YET to get over there!!!! I go to SeaWorld and Busch Gardens often (I get free passes through work), and just haven't had much time to actually do Disney! It's killing me!!!!! We drive by on our way to other places, and the kids always beg, "When are WE going to get to go??!!!" I think it was easier to justify the cost of WDW tickets when it was part of a vacation, as opposed to just something to do on a Saturday. I know AP's would be cheaper, but honestly, we wouldn't get enough use out of them. Between football, race season, etc., we are better off buying the 3-day Florida Resident passes that are good for 6 months. I doubt we'd ever get more than 3 days in in 6 months.

A T.O.P. is a silly little thing...don't know if the 10 night cruisers actually started it, but we did it for fun all the time.

It means Top of Page. We like to have pirate fights to see who can "steal" the Top.

Your Disney trip sounds like a great idea, BBB. I wish I'd thought of that when the kids were younger. My oldest and I did a solo trip to WDW last August and it was a total blast!

I haven't even gotten as far as thinking about whether or not we'll do the parks. It would have to be after the cruise, same reasons as you....school will have just gotten out the day before we fly to Orlando. And after the cruise, the parks may be crowded beyond my patience threshold. Plus, that's a lot of time away from work. Don't know.

i THINK WE WILL DO THE PARKS, MY KIDS SHOULD E OUT OF SCHOOL BY THE 21ST THAT YEAR SO HOPEFULLY WE WILL STILL HAVE A PEACEFUL TIME BEFORE THE CROWDS HIT

Then we can sail away from them literally :boat: grr dang 40 second rule!! It better not have made me lose my TOP!! pirate:

Woo Hoo! Another week closer!

Woke up and couldn't get back to sleep so I thought I would beat Jim on the boards this morning :D

My plan for today is scrapbooking (with some laundry on the side).

Hey Mary: Hows the scraping going? I'm very excited - just checked the mail and your CD was there. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Now I guess I have no excuse for getting serious about scrapping myself. I almost have the first day done - only nine more to go.

Dzneprincess- you are so lucky! I'd love to be able to do as planned at GF and the parks a few days before our cruise. I'm not sure I'm going to like doing it afterwards- in fact we probably won't. Which was all the more reason for DH to agree to this mom/kids trip... he doesn't have to go and then maybe I won't make him go to the parks AFTER the cruise. LOL
Maybe......
Maybe he can just fly home after the cruise and leave us there. Yeah, that's a thought.
But really not. Our ORIGINAL plans were to stay at GF concierge for a couple of days prior to the cruise- probably just do MK while there, I was going to enjoy the spa and we were going to use the club (for the first and only time since the year after that our oldest would be too old for the club- previous to now our youngest was too young to go to the clubs! LOL That's what happens when you have 3 children with a large age gap between oldest and youngest!) for us to eat out alone, etc. I'm not sure all that's going to be the same AFTER a cruise. *sigh* But I'm not giving up this cruise- it's been postponed enough as it is plus who'd give up a double dip cruise for their first cruise? Only a crazy person, not I. LOL

Thanks for explaining the TOP thing. LOL

You don't think it will be too hard for me to go alone with 3 kids ages just turning 5, 7.5 and 11.5 do you? I hope I make it. LOL But honestly that's why I like solo trips... to do what I want/when I want. Which I can still do with my kids- but not with "Grumpy" (as in snow white grumpy) DH. LOL He tries to be pleasant the majority of the time we're there- but he just doesn't "get into it" like we do, yanno? LOL

BBB I went alone last NEW YEARS EVE (never ever again on NYE btw) with my then 8 and 7 year old and they were fine. WIth the 11 yr old to help you out, I think you all will have a blast. I took my 5 yr old byhimself this past April and he loved it also. Then in July I took my 1 yr old and my MIL and and had an awesome time! I think you will be fine!!!!!!!!! GO have fun! My DH doesnt care about going wither, but that is why I am staying away from the parks this year, so I can lord it over him that I havent been in almost 2 years (at sail time) the WDW parks at least!lol

Hi Shari - nice to see you posting over here. So glad you got the CD. I've been using a good combination of our pictures and yours. I've got Vero (our day one), sailaway (our day two), and now I'm working on Key West (our day 3).

Took a break to do some laundry and DIS - now I need to get back to it.

I think you'll be fine. As long as your kids are pretty easy going, especially the youngest. Three hyper or spacey kids would be hard. I started an annual Mom/daughter trip when mine was 11, and now it's more like going with a buddy. We do all the things that Dad isn't as crazy about, especially pin trading. Pool time most days, too. I consider it good "bonding" time, since she's a teen now and it seems like all I do during the school year is nag. That trip is a chance for the two of us to just have fun together.

We're going when school ends this May, trying to make it a two week trip. We bought AP's this year. The first week, Kevin's son, DIL, and granddaughter are supposed to join us. Alicia gets to play auntie for a week, the baby will be 19 months. Now THAT will be different for us! We didn't attempt WDW until ours was 8. But with 5 adults, we should be able to handle her!

I don't believe the "nagging" part for a second.
Wait until you guys see what a sweetheart this lady is!

Aw shucks. Now where did that blush smiley go? Stacey and I are good shopping partners, we shop at about the same speed.

But yes, I do nag. "Get your homework done, pick up your room, take a shower, do you have your dance shoes, get your homework done". Never ending.

Ahem, I have an announcement to make. The 10 day cruise thread hit 25,000 posts tonight. See what you guys are in for?

My kids would tell you "Isn't that every Mom? That sure is our Mom."

Yeah, but mine is more like, "GET YOUR HOMEWORK DONE, PICK UP YOUR ROOM, GET OUT OF THE SHOWER, DO YOU HAVE YOUR CHEER SHOES, GET YOUR HOMEWORK DONE!". (I tend to nag loudly.)
