SO, I have a serious question for you guys. Are any of you all ever made to feel guilty about your cruises by members of your immediate family, moms dads brothers sisters? My Mom makes me feel so bad. But you know what? My DH and I work hard all year long, and we make sacrifices during the year, as far as family time goes, because of our jobs. My DH works at least 10 hours a day almost everyday, as long as the OT is offered. So it is not like the life we live is handed to us on a silver platter.....KWIM? My mom and dad make me feel like they think we are rolling in it (which we are not) and make comments about how it must be nice to cruise every year, or go to WDW etc etc........it gets me down sometimes. SO share, does this happen to you? If it does how do you handle it?

Hey I will be driving thru SYlvester on Friday night on my way to Orlando! LOL That is where yo uare going to be right? :moped: :moped:

We are there the 23 & 24th... (Sun & Mon... they can't make us leave our families ALL weekend...besides- its a 'working' trip). So there is actually civilization that drives through Sylvester? Seems like a ghost town. Actually, we stay in a hunting lodge that is absolutely beautiful (Southern Woods Plantation)... I don't like to hunt, but it sure is a great place to hang out.

In terms of mom... she took me on my first cruise when I was 7... she started this cruise bug!!!!

AHA than I will be driving back home late Sunday night. LOL I was going to stay until MOnday morning, but the park closes at 6pm Sunday night. SO we firgured we save $119 for the room for one noght, and each save a vacation day. I know you probably think we are nuts to only go for the weekend, but what the hay.

big time from one of my sisters. I was lucky to get an early out offer from my company after 33 years and I am now my Mom's primary caregiver. So the 2 of us can pool our $$$$ and cruise a few times a year. My sister can be mean and cutting with her comments about squandering her inheritance.

I don't think you're nuts at all... I'm going all the way up there for one night (not that I have a choice).

I don't have to worry about that... my parents are spending my inheritance... and my sis, bro & I all hope that they spend every penny of it enjoying themselves... they have 'outgrown' cruising, but hit Vegas twice a year, spend about a month here in FL, and trot all over the country just because they can. At 73 and 67, they aren't about to slow down!!!!

My sister never fussed when it was my Mom and Dad traveling. It is only cause I go with her now.

We've got some of that - especially on the Christmas cruise. My in-laws who usually make no big deal about Christmas seemed put off that we were cruising. Some of that is that we didn't ask them to come (they have cruised with us before - but won't again - long story).

We get the "you guys are made of money" a lot especially from my FIL. Mostly because of DVC. Well we were able to afford DVC because my mom died and left us some money. We both work very hard and vacations are important to us and yes we like a higher class vacation than just sitting on the beach for a week.

My Mother loved Disney and loved cruising so I know she would be happy for us.

My Mom & Dad did their travelling after we were grown and out of the house. Europe, UK, Egypt, cruising. They crammed a lot in before my Mom died at age 57. If she were still here, they would probably cruise with us (maybe even pay, since we provided a granddaughter). My Dad now travels with his new lady.

My brother and SIL have the money, but not the inclination. They go to Corpus Christi for two weeks every year. My SIL expresses a little envy once in a while, but not in a mean way. More like "I wish we could do that instead of Corpus Christi"! I keep telling her, "you could".

Not sure what Kevin's family thinks of our travel habits. I'm pretty sure they think he married rich.

We're not rich, we just have different priorities.

That's the reason we gone on cruises, to get away from all the bickering. We did not hear any of that over the Christmas cruise.

I'm sick of travelling to see my family for Christmas... this year, I told them that they all have to come see US!!! So now they're coming... where do I put them all?????

We showed MIL and FIL our pics after our first cruise. FIL keeps saying we'll be sorry that we spent all that money, but doesn't say it to our face. Heard from MIL about it. But these are people that have shopped at Salvation Army stores all their life. My attitude is to enjoy life if you are able. My dad retired at 65, got cancer and died before he could enjoy his retirement. I don't think we'll tell FIL that we're going on another cruise so MIL won't have to listen to his gripes. :charac2:

I wish I could... too expensive for my sister and her family to afford... they have 3 kids plus 1 foster... and 3 out of the 4 will be in college next year. They are all excited to have a Florida vacation for Christmas...

I hear ya!

Florida is VERY nice at that time of year. Every so often it does get a bit chilly though!

We have Mickey gloves and stocking caps to prove it!

I know... I had to throw a sweatshirt on to walk the dog tonight... brrr! After 3 weeks in the 80's, 58 seems downright frigid!!

No, you missed the point. You go on the Disney cruise and leave your front door unlocked with a note "Sorry we missed you. We are spending Christmas with Mickey. There is food in the refrig. Lock up when you leave."

You don't understand... I moved to Florida against my will, and miss my family beyond belief... I will do just about anything to get them all here at once- especially at Christmas... but that's a good remedy for most people.
