Hi Shari - so nice to see you have your own log on. We miss you guys too! I was thinking of you when there were showing all the rain out west!

Hey Mary: Yeah, lots of rain since we've been home (approximately 6 inches, which is probably more than we got all last year.) How did Mark do going back to work on Thursday? I don't have to go back for awhile yet but I'm having a hard time getting back into the swing of things, like laundry, house cleaning and cooking and kitchen clean up are the worse. Other than that, life in California is great.

Hey I was close. At least I did not put your age up there. Someone is getting close to 50!

I will have just turned 47 when we cruise in 06. Don't make me any older than I am already. (It's easy to keep track - Matt will be 16 and add 31) :flower1:

This weeks pic is from the manatee dives in Blue Springs after the cruise. A mother manatee and her calf. Very fun!!!

Absolutely beautiful!!!

Cool! Lets make it another DIS meet.

The 10-day cruise bunch did that several times. Las Vegas, Orlando, etc.

More the merrier!

Shari, Great to see you here!! I had fun bumping into you all over the ship (luckily not LITERALLY!) Thanks for making our cruise special! :)

Shari - actually we both went back to work on Thursday. It was tough, but we do what we need to do to keep going on cruises. :D I had Friday off and Mark worked about 1/2 day. He goes back tomorrow and I'm off until Tuesday, but may end up going in for an hour or so to try and get caught up.

Kevin - I love the picture in your signature line. That would have been a very cool dive!

About the early/late seating thing....

Times are Eastern(or Atlantic if we go east enough, don't think so this trip).

Early seating is at 6pm, late seating is a 8:30pm.

The nightly show is opposite dinner, so..

Early seating has dinner at 6, show at 8:30
Late Seating has show at 6, dinner at 8:30

The seating is ONLY for dinner. Breakfast and lunch are at your discretion as to when except for the morning you leave the ship, if you want to say goodbye to everyone, you are on an assigned breakfast, and even then you have the option of a continental one at Topsiders.

Which seating you should be on is really a personal judgement thing. You need to gauge what is going to work better for you.

We have done both, and the late seating is just too late for us, but we're both more morning than evening people, it's rare for us to go to the clubs after the evening show(like, 11pm), if we even attend that.

Thanks Mark I had not seen that one.
We should really let everyone in on that joke..

Jim spent the 10 day cruise with his own wine in this huge glass. Which was bought at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival and looks like it can hold a half bottle all by itself. Now of course it was never full, and most times I saw, it was already empty. But we still enjoy ribbing him over it. :)

Late seating's show is at 6:30...which allows even MORE time to get ready. Although if you think about going to save a seat, your probably more looking at 6:00 anyway.

What to do, what to do. I know the kids would just LOVE it to eat with the other kids. Hmmm....

Kevin, I dont know that I have ever been in ALB....Only Pena and Chinatown! LOL And sometimes SantaFe.......
Your new picture is really clear also! Are these digital pictures?
Amanda, Let us know if that will work with your plans, we'll be happy to meet and have dinner or something.

I really enjoy taking pictures underwater. I guess it those years of National Geographic reading. :D

The camera is a Olympus 4040Z digital, and Oly uw housing. Not expensive, although one of my goals is to add a tray and strobe to the mix. Much better lighting than depending on the camera strobe.

I can think of one disadvantage to late seating, you don't finish eating until about 10:30! Which is OK if you have something to do before bed, but not OK if you plan on attending any late night buffets because you won't be hungry. Our teen group somehow managed to finish by 9:30 every night, however. Guess they had things to do.

Sharon, why is Jim always trying to make you older? Doesn't he realize that he ages right along with you?

Speaking of whom, Jim, you need to add that smiley Mark found to your signature. It's perfect! I have a gift in mind for you and will be keeping an eye out for the next year and a half. A really large wine glass, with a little spout on it! Jim would bring his big glass full to brunch and lunch, and offer to share. The trick was getting the wine out of his glass into the other glasses.

We will need to do the Banfi and dessert buffet again next cruise. By the end of the cruise, almost all the second seating tables were drinking Banfi with dinner.

Tinksdad (aka Kevin)

Nice to see some fellow southwesterners on the cruise. We are here in El Paso, not to far at all from Albuquerque. Was in Santa Fe first weekend in December for my daughter's swim meet. Another family from here will also be on the cruise. Our daughters are very good friends, so that is going to be fun.

Pam

Pam, Tinksdad is my DH. I think we PM'd a while back about being fairly close. If you're going to be passing through Albuquerque sometime, let us know. We have a daughter near your son's age.

We did late seating on our first cruise and found that we were going to bed on a TOO full stomach. We're going to stary with early seating this time. We may find out that we'd prefer late, but won't know until we try it. BTW, my DS is listed as 10 at cruise time, but will be 11 1/2. Dzneprincess, could you update this the next time you edit our group info? I was talking to him about our first cruise. He mentioned that he didn't like it because he didn't make any friends to hang out with. Hopefully he'll be able to get to know the others (even if they are GIRLS!) before we go. He just doesn't know that we're going, yet. I must say that th 10-day group does seem a little intimidating to me. I guess I still feel like a novice since this will only be our second cruise, but I'm still glad to be part of this group. :grouphug:

Don't worry it was intimidating to each of us before we joined in as well. I read, but didn't join in until 6 months before the cruise (a year after the thread had been started). Just jump right in, you'll feel a part of the group quickly. If you haven't been on the cruise lately, just ask questions. This is the group that can answer them. It will be fun to meet you all. :jumping4:

Please don't feel intimidated. We are just cruisers who love DCL just like you. Our main goal when we started the 12/18 thread was for everyone to get to know each other. Some of us were on the thread from the very beginning, many many others joined as the months went on.

I'm sure Amanda had the same goals in mind when she started this thread. The fact that some of us have already sailed together shouldn't matter. We come from all parts of the country and from all walks of life. Yes we have some in jokes (like the tops) and we'll try and explain those as we go along.

The main thing is for everyone to get to know each other. I think your son will find that getting to know others before the cruise will make the experience wonderful for him.

Well put, Mary and Sharon. Yes, we have met each other, and have some jokes to share, but I wouldn't say we are inseparable. Most of us were at different seatings, and didn't see that much of each other. I've had many more conversations with Karen (Ohiominnie) here than on the ship. We just didn't see her. Some of us are quieter than you would think, some just as outgoing as on the thread (cough, Stacey, cough), and some are shorter. (Sorry, that was an inside joke for Garry.)

We had so much fun making friends on the 12/18/04 thread, we wanted to do it again. And we expect there will be new "old" friends by the time we get on the ship again. The thread leading up to the cruise was almost as much fun as the cruise itself, does that make sense?

So let the good times roll!

Diana is right - there were a number of people that I talked a lot with on the thread that I got to spend very little time with on the ship. Diana is one of them. We even had plans to meet at Epcot after the cruise but both families were just too beat.

On the other hand there were some families that I didn't spend a lot of time talking to on the thread and I ran into them a lot on the ship and had a great time.

What we did have was 18 months to get to know each other. Who were the early morning posters, who were the late night posters. Who had kids, who didn't. We shared ideas about door signs. We found things we had in common like scrapbooking.

Not everything is for everyone. For example we had a wine party and people brough wine from all over the country. Mark and I don't drink but went and had a great time (I even looked like I fit in with Holiday Pepsi in my glass). However one girl said she wasn't attending because her DH was in AA. She was met by a great deal of support.

So come get to know us. Let us get to know you. Then we'll have a great party in May of '06!
