We gave up our land line, got Vonage, disconnected the telco wires altogether, and spliced the Vonage adapter into the telephone hub. So we have live outlets throughout the house, but its Vonage. Works like a charm. Had some problems at first, but we updated the firmware in our wireless router, and no problems since.

Okay, maybe "we" is the wrong pronoun.
Not sure that Vonage is the way to go for us. We have satellite internet, so I don't want to rely on it for our phone service. It would be different if it were DSL, but when you live in the middle of nowhere there's not much choice. My boss at the library switched to Vonage and likes it just fine. I think they even have the 911 feature.

So were you also raised on fried baloney sandwiches??? That is what I remember from my childhood lake days... Fried fish and fried baloney sandwiches!! Did I mention I was from the south??? :thumbsup2

Yep, did those too. But, nope, no south here, all Chicago. No idea where it all came from either. Used to do the Spam fried, cubed, breaded..don't remember what else.

If we can't get Mickey, we'll have to make do with the Ohio version. :lmao:

I do have a pair of black ears with MEMBER written in gold.

Well I did anyway. I think OM sold them on ebay :charac2:

DSL requires a phone line. This service uses the internet service over cable tv lines, that's something around here that honestly I'd not do as I don't trust the cable service that well. We dumped cable for satellite tv because of how poor the quality was. And I do have a question, what happens if there's a power outage, does the phone service go offline too?

All this talk of gourmet dinner reminded me I havn't had mine yet from the last food discussion.

Being I came home a bit early, as I'm coming down with something which seems very much like bronchitis.

So out comes the fry pan.

Ahhhhh. such a wonderful smell. Even with bad sinuses I'm feeling eager.

Got to have a side...

And finally the presentation. ;)

Of course I havn't added the.............tomato sauce yet!

:)
Now that's our kind of dinner, Mark, except for the tomato sauce. In fact, we haven't had that for awhile. That will be good on the grill this summer.

Our satellite TV and internet is pretty reliable, but I wouldn't trust it for my phone service. Although, we'd always have our cell phone back-ups. I guess it wouldn't hurt to look into it more. I'm tired of our high monthly phone bill. Before me moved about 5 years ago, we had 2 phone lines (one home and one for the dial-up). It cost us less for the 2 phone lines than our 1 now (different company). It was always fun when the modem phone rang. We knew it was always a telemarketer or a wrong number, so we had 'creative' anwers when we picked up that line.

One more small problem....our voice mail light will NOT stop blinking even after we've gotten the message, but we unplug a phone and plug it in and it goes away. Minor inconvenience considering I'm saving $38 a month.

That's not Vonage's fault. Our line tone goes from stutter to normal just fine. Our phone has problems telling the line went from stutter to normal.

Yes, I know how many pages a 2-yr old list is. That's how long it takes DH to start on the first project (notice I didn't say finish the project). Love ya, Larry!

Finally made it to 1000 posts. I'll never get close to the master, though.

I don't know what PITA is other than a bread, but what I do know is that you are one HE** of a person to put up with that! I know that I am a nice and patient person but that is too much. I am sending lots of PD and prayers that this will all be over soon for you. pixiedust: pixiedust: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Thank you. I'm no Saint.....I have done what I've done because I love my husband so much.

And a PITA is a pain in the a**.

Ok, looked at Mark and Mary's site....(the deck plan pages)
there are 10 cabins on deck 2 by us DISers
there are 6 cabins on deck 5
there are 10 cabins on deck 6
there are 12 cabins on deck 7
there are 8 cabins on deck 8

46 cabins in all (although some of those ppl never ever post, so we could get away with a few less)

so 83 is a little overkill (although we could make a buck or two selling low numbers to those who have high numbers!!!) :lmao:

Make money?? COOL! More souvenirs.

And that's the deal. We do have two phone lines and only give out the number to the dsl/modem for anyone that we know is going to sell it. Doesn't even have a phone on it, just the dsl and faxmodem. As far as the rest, we've had the same service since even before SBC came into this area. And have had a phone package all this time that basically is unlimited local calls for a flat fee. There was, when SBC came in, some high pressure mailings to switch off the old Illinois Bell package, but just reading I didn't see an upside price wise to doing so. They offered all these 'features' but none of the packages included the local calling, nope, not happening. I'm sure if at any time we'd gave permission we'd be paying more than we are now, being as we are locked in with something they'd love to push us out of.

Yeah, it's not like we're asking for all of the tween girls in the group to have a sleepover there or anything........

Maybe just the TEENS. ;) What? It's better than the hallway!

dh just commented "people are posting quick tonight..." duh look at the post count...have fun racing to the next milestone - we're off to ds' choir concert.

Just taking a break from detailing the car. Uh....could someone please tell ohiomickey NOT to leave Olive Garden chocolate mints in the compartment with his hospital ID badges, loose change and pens??? Especially now that it's getting warmer and on a sunny day the internal temperature of a black SUV hovers right around 120 degrees?

I checked Quicken. We ate at Olive Garden on March 1st!! EAT THE MINTS ALREADY!!! :) Oh, that's right....you weren't hungry --probably b/c of the bags of COMBOS I found stashed in the OTHER compartment!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

love ya, Cupcake...

uh-oh :teeth:
