And you guys LIKE living down there??? Look at the size of that thing, compared to the officer!

We do not see many around the Daytona Area...but that is a pretty large Gator

Geez! That thing is HUGE! We lived in both Gainesville and Ft. Lauderdale for over 5 years and never saw a gator. Thank goodness!

Yes, but you can't beat the weather here!!!! so you have to put up with a couple Gators, (and a bunch Gator fans) you have to take the good with the bad:sunny: :)

That's not a Gator, that's a dinosaur! Are you sure that's for real? Hope it was dead when they took the pic.

I received the DVC member newsletter and noted the following:

Since it was a topic of discussion earlier - I thought I'd post it.

Good Morning - All,

oh my goodness, the size of that gator. Now that will put some hair on your back. imagine all of our hair standing up if we would come in contact with one that size.

Have a good day.

Based on a post from the main board it looks like DCL is going back to Cozumel starting April 8th. The post says tenders will be used and that the ship sails at 6:00 pm. Wonder if they will keep the same times for us and if that do what does that mean for the Tulum tour (since wouldn't that be cutting it close)?

I've heard the Rainforest is Jim's home away from home.

Watching Deal/No Deal....switched back and forth between that and Prison Break earlier.

I still don't know if this is sinus or a cold, but I have been miserable all day. Will be calling it a night early tonight, for sure.

Also watched both as DH was switching and then I went to bed!!!
Could barely keep my eyes open.

Here is a non-cruise related question:

DS, Matt, is providing us with an "opportunity" to host a foreign exchange student from Mexico for part of next year.

Has anyone hosted a student before? What are the pros/cons of it? Was it a good experience?

It is a great opportunity, my best friend(who was like my sister) in South Africa hosted a student from NY when we were in school, he stayed with them a year, attended school and they travelled a lot with him, it was wonderful for both them and him. :thumbsup2

HOLY MOLEY!!!! Where did they find that thing??? :scared1: What part of FL was it from? It looks fake. I wanna know who caught it and how.....

I'm sitting here watching this bird go back and forth, back and forth like he was in jail (basically he is). It's hysterical! He goes from one perch to the next to the next up the side of the cage down to the bottom. He's crazy. Is this normal? It's only his 3rd day with us. I feel sorry for him.

Hi Jim!

My family hosted a foreign exchange student while I was in high school (and oddly enough, while my sister was an exchange student.
I think you received some good advice from (sorry, I forgot to write down who posted! But you know who I mean...!)

You have to be a flexible family. In other words, if little things bother you (as a family), don't do it, because things will happen. For example, while in Japan, my sister had a fire in her room. Her host family was probably upset that the tatami was burned, but they rolled with it as an accident.

With us, our student was with us only 3 months or so. She was a quiet girl, and we got along fine. There were habits and things that happened that my parents weren't too happy about, but they worked those things out.

Hopefully, the agency has screened the students so there won't be behavior problems, etc. Overall, it is something only you and your family can decide. If you do it, remind yourself that he is probably as unsure of the situation as you are, and that he is probably very lonely as it is difficult to express your thoughts and feelings to anyone in a foreign country due to the language constraints.

I hope I didn't ramble too much. Best wishes as you consider this idea! I think it is grand that you are even thinking about it.

I have an e-mail from my TA, with a copy of the notice that she received from DCL. My guess is that they may leave for Tulum earlier in the morning. We also found that some excursions, when you tender, have your transportation boat pick you up at your ship, instead of having you tender to the mainland, and then board their boat.

This was found between Orlando and Titusville, near a house. How would you like to meet this fella in the dark? Never let it be said that we don't grow them big in Florida .

Game wardens were
forced to shoot the alligator- guess he wouldn't cooperate...
Anita and Charlie Rogers could hear the bellowing in the night.

Their
neighbors had been telling them that they had seen a mammoth alligator in the waterwaythat runs behind their house, but they dismissed the stories as exaggerations.

"I didn't believe it," Charles Rogers said.
Friday they realized the stories were, if anything, understated. Florida Parks and Wildlife game wardens had to shoot the beast. Joe Goff, 6'5" tall, a game warden with the Florida Parks and Wildlife Department, walks past a 23-foot, 1-inch alligator that he shot and killed in theirback yard.

I have a question - how do I sign off and my son signs on when the computer recognizes me? Just curious and stupid.....:rotfl:
Maria, at the top of the page there is a "Log Out", click on that and you will be logged out. If another person then Logs In, their screen name and password will have to be typed in. If NOT, then you might have to go and clear your cookies.......... (speaking of which OM still owes me some)

To do that in MS Explorer, go to the Tools>Internet Options>General>Delete Cookies.

Try that!!
