For all of you with girls, you need to check out the Bibbidi Boppidi BOutique in the World of Disney store. They have made a really nice salon in the back of the store and do makeovers for young girls. It officially opens later this week, but they were testing it and allowing walk ups while I was there. The little girls came out looking gorgeous.
I am glad to hear this. I madea ressie for Taylor. I think she will love it. PS I am going to try so hard to remember to fax my order form inday. It is filled out and in my purse ready to be faxed. ( But it was esterday too and Istill forgot!);)

Here is a non-cruise related question:

DS, Matt, is providing us with an "opportunity" to host a foreign exchange student from Mexico for part of next year.

Has anyone hosted a student before? What are the pros/cons of it? Was it a good experience?

:flower1: Good morning cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Tuesday!

Stacey - feel better soon!

Pam - have a safe trip home!

Good morning everyone! Ugly day here in NY. Raining since last night. Gloomy and wet.

Not much posting going on around here. Easy to catch up. Where's all the blabbermouths? Stacey doesn't feel well, OM is in DC, but we have Coach to help us along. I haven't been posting to capacity either. Got too many things going on in my house.

Did I tell y'all we got a bird? We got a parakeet on Sunday and you know what they named him? Kiki. I had nothing to do with it. It was between Kiki, Zazoo or Jeter. I personally liked Jeter cause when he tweets, it sounds like Je-ter. But we pulled from the hat and Kiki won.

Going to go into school today and be "class mom" for the day. I go in 2-3 times a month to help out. There's a bunch of us parents who rotate all month. And tonight is "open house". This should be bedlum!! Parents and kids come in to see what your kids are doing in class. It's cute and the kids really love it. Especially for the kids who's parents work. It's nice and I'm looking forward to it.

Chow for now...

Morning all! Can I just say

It's great to be a

:cheer2: FLORIDA GATOR! :cheer2:

I feel better now.

As a high schooler - our family hosted three summer exchange students, two from France and the other from Brazil. The Brazilian was very outgoing, friendly, and was excited about being an American teenager for the summer. The two from France (brother and sister - different summers) - were very difficult to get them to open up and try new things (We connected more when I visited them)...The right fit and attitude makes all the difference in the experience from the teen's point of view. (I don't remember much of my parents views...)

Full year hosting, I'm sure provides a different set of challenges - if the student and Matt has enough interests in common, it will be easier to connect. Values, experiences and family rules will be different - so, there could be some adjustment issues...Otherwise a school year is a long time ...What are the student's expectations, or the organizations? Room and Board, or assimulate as part of the family? I would first check out the exchange organization and see if you are comfortable with their philosophy. Does the organization have a local support person both for the hosts and the students? It will be a big adjustment but, could be big rewards for everyone...

Personally, I would probably host a month long summer exchange as a trial to see, before considering a school year program.

I have a question - how do I sign off and my son signs on when the computer recognizes me? Just curious and stupid.....:rotfl:
