I don't remember who made it, but it has a texture/grain to it making it look like wood. It was a couple of years ago when we did it. Of course my DH had to re-do it when we did the addition this past year. Oh bother!

Ours is going to be really cool. And I just love that the guy told us this would be a good plan. The FRONT of our house is going to be a more expensive one that looks like hand cut shake. The other sides will be regular siding in the same color. I think it was really great for him to recommend this and not try to sell us the WHOLE house in the $$$ stuff. It is 3 times more than the regular stuff, I believe!

Pros and Cons of this product, please. Now that I'm searching Alcoa's website I see this, although it wasn't offered to us. (we did have another company come offer us another brand, but the salesman was OBNOXIOUS and we shooed him out) Cost vs. Benefit opinions, please. Remember, we only have 3 days to change the order.

Do I sense a theme going on - airplane thrillers... Speaking of a boring cues - John is threatening to take over the cue after he's finished with school...I have it loaded with TV shows, moving movies around for when he's available. I'm working my way through the first three seasons of Moonlighting. I had forgotten how funny the banter is between Cybil and Bruce - the fight scenes are now so cheesey they're hysterical.

After Moonlighting it's Newsradio and Remington Steele. The kids' are working through the 1st season of Star Trek, 2nd of Wonderwoman, and 2nd of McGyver in their queue...(Talk about cheesy, campy fight scenes...And we thought they were sooo great then....I'd love a Magic lasso now - you will tell me the truth...)

Speaking of cars, mine now has no air at all. It needs a new motor and fan???? At least it is still under warranty....

Cruise Question



Parents, are you bringing Game Boys,etc on the cruise?

I don't want to get the look from Nick.

We'll have the gameboy (DS) b/c of the plane trip down. And yes, Nick will play it some on the cruise. He did the last time but part of that is that my parents brought his birthday presents which included a new DS game. It was kinda nice for those times when we wanted to chill, Nick didn't want to be in the lab, and we didn't want to play ping pong or shuffleboard. And then there was the time that the kids checked themselves out of the lab and went back to the room while we were at a movie. I left the movie for 5 minutes to check that they had gotten there, but then they played their DS's for another 45 minutes till the movie let out. At least I knew they were in the room, quiet, not running the halls or falling over balconies!

That's about where I am!! I told Mike last night that laundry and cooking and cleaning may not be done until the puzzle is!

The boys will probably bring their GameBoys but they will most likely stay in their backpacks during the cruise. I don't foresee them even remembering that they have them. Or needing them for that matter.

edited to add: Well looky looky....a TOP with the boys and their toys....

Part of it in our case is that (I think) this will be cruise #8 for them. So some of the activities in the lab have lost their novelty. I figure, if they want to play them a bit on the cruise, so be it....as long as that's not ALL that they do. I mean, after all, vacation should be FUN, not being forced to do what someone else wants you to do.

I think that was a great suggestion!
The installers usually put a layer the insulation under most siding projects. The stuff that has the molded in insulation just uses as a stiffener since vinyl is more pliable than the steel product. We don't do a lot of siding here, so I can't help you on the cost portion of it. Frankly, your first two selections look fine!

Ok, thanks. I *think* that the house is already covered with an (approx) 1 inch thick "energy board." At least that was there when we took siding off an outside wall for the sunroom. So that should be good, I guess.

HOLY COW!!! You're good. I don't have the patience for that intense of a puzzle. We started a regular jigzaw but never finished it. That's when the house was under construction. No where to leave it laying out. That is awesome. Good luck with the sky and grass. YOU CAN DO IT!!
