Yes b'fast was open seating, not all the dining rooms are open, buffet upstairs, served in Lumiers and the character breakfast depends on rotation.

We are not big into room service but think I will order this time and try relax more.

And I assume character breakfast is only on the last morning, correct?

Jay HAS to have his full breakfast, so he'll go up to Topsider's and I order coffee and rolls from room service. The best of both worlds! But it really is handy to have fruit and rolls from room service, when all four of us are getting ready to go on an early morning excursion.

The last morning they really just want you to leave the ship

but the place at the back of the ship is open and I think the one midship was ????? not real sure on that one.

Nope....character breakfast for people eating in Animator's the first night is the next morning...Sunday. For people eating in Lumiere's the first night their character breakfast is Monday morning, and if you eat in Parrot Cay the first night, your character breakfast is Thursday morning. There will be "tickets" in your room telling you when it is.
On the day we get off the ship, people with early dinner go to breakfast at I think 7:00 am...and the late dinner people go to breakfast at 8:00 or somewhere thereabouts.

gaRry meant it would be good to be a goose, because geese can swim ...or fly. At least I think that's what he meant!

Sssh.....don't tell her THAT or she'll lock up her daughter and not let her out of their stateroom!
Besides, they're engaged now, so it's okay. ;)

Okay hold the horses... what do you mean no-frills outfit and just basic dive taxi? Does that mean they just drive the divers out there and sit and wait for them? No dive master goes with them or shows them where to dive and things to see underwater/etc?

Please let me know because I'm not interested in my husband participating in a dive like that!

Dive within 6mo is not an issue for him but he hasn't logged a TON of dives. Lots of training, not that many dives logged- like he's certified and rescue also but only like 9 dives logged so far I think. He's not mister experienced like enough to just go out in the ocean alone I don't think. LMK
You are a worry wart aren't you??

Yes, they HAVE to have a Divemaster with the boat. It's required by Cozumel law. He will be fine! All the dives in Coz are drift dives. This means there is a slight current that the divers drift with. Everyone stays together as a group and the goes up when the dive is done. The boat follows the divers bubbles or gets signaled by the DM using a inflatable marker buoy. A very easy, and enjoyable type of dive. A lot better than trying to fight your way back to an anchored boat with current for sure!!
I hope he wouldn't dive alone! That is against the buddy rules of scuba!!

As far as the no frills part. They use small boats, no showers, no heads, no lunches. They do have water or light fruit drinks, but that's all.

I sort of almost kinda said that. We even had a guide for snorkeling in Cozumel and Roatan. But the guy in Cozumel did use a buoy......I didn't think much of it, I guess I just thought he maybe wasn't such a good swimmer! :scared1: ;) :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ya know...I never did finish my NCL trip report....but I loved Roatan! I could go stay there for a week or more. I don't think too many of our fellow cruisers were impressed with it (very poor country) but I loved it.

We had hired a guy with a sailboat to take us out. He met us at the pier, and we went to the west side. He stopped at a place that he said made their bread fresh every day, and made the best sandwiches...which we had for lunch on the boat later, and they were GOOD.
I loved the beach out there, on the west side. So pretty.
We were way ahead of the cruise ship crowd when we hit the reef...we were out there nearly half the day all by ourselves, just us and the guide. Lots of eel...and all the typical fishies. Tons of conch, and our guide taught us to pick them up (under the water) and shake them, to see if they had a "conch pearl". No one had ever told us about that before. Later, in the stores, we saw conch pearls....they are expensive! Jay and I both said we wish we'd been looking for them all along....we might have been rich by now! LOL
We had a beautiful day out there. Capt Dusty let Jay drive the sail boat (I was jealous....but I'd had a rum punch and a Honduran beer...which tasted like dirt, ick) so I didn't get to.
Dusty took us to the Cameo Factory on the way back to the pier....fascinating to see them doing such delicate work. I felt that in order to help support this poor country, I should buy at least one cameo....just doing my part! ;)
They had a medium-size market under a large tent, with all the native wears and trinkets...and one very small jewelry store..at the pier area, and that was about all they had there. I think a lot of people went to Tabayana Beach...or to the dolphins at Anthony's Key.

Okay....you can resume your chat now.........

That one was a LaFrance, too...but I didn't hear him say what year it was, I was too busy jumping up and down like a kindergartner.

WAIT A SECOND...the math isn't right here.

First you were a 10 yr old boy....and now a kindergartner...

Man, some school system you have there in AZ!!!!

Stacey, did the NCL ship have an excursion to Anthony's Key Resort? I thought you had to be staying there to see their dolphins.

We enjoyed Roatan too. Lovely island, nice reefs. I went to a day spa there and had a facial, and then snorkeled near the spa. Nothing like having a nice facial and then going swimming in the ocean!

Almost forgot, that was the day I was sitting in our porthole watching for Kevin and Alicia to get back from their dive. They were the last ones on the ship, they raised the gangplank right after. It wasn't a ship excursion, either. He's never going to do THAT again!

Hey...I can esplain....I was as EXCITED as a 10 year old boy...but I was jumping up and down like a kindergartner. 10 year old boys are too cool to jump up and down.
Ha...teacher...I guess I showed her, huh? Pretty fast thinking on my part.

OMGosh! How could you have sat there and waited!? I would have been pacing down at the gangway!!

The only place there that has dolphins is AKR....and the ship had a dolphin excursion with an outfit that was located, interestingly, at the same location, but it didn't give the name Anthony's Key. :confused3
