Hi all - checking in. Thanks for the well wishes. Nothing major - just some sinus pain and feeling a little lightheaded this morning. So I'm trying to take it easy.

OM, glad to hear that Mike's illness is not so serious. What a scary time you were going through! Glad we could "help".

Another thought on the scuba masks. If her prescription is not too bad, less than -2 or so, she might be OK with a regular mask. The water tends to have a magnifying effect.

Who you callin' OLD???

How about a whole bunch of little stickies..all over the mask...huh? Didn't think of THAT, did you??? Of course not, you're smarter than me.....
Now, don't get carried away!! That was a inclusive statement. Believe me!!

Wow! I'm sooooo proud!!!

OK -- I have the final quote on the bags. She is going to have to modify the design. She can only do a 2 color transfer (the cone) Her plan is to do a very small pattern in each of the cones with the island name and the outline of the cone. Here is the cost breakdown:

Bag w/2 color transfer $24.66

Embroidery (1" w/2 words) 5.00
or (3/4" w 2 words) 4.00

Packaging/Shipping 10.00

Therefore total cost for all of those out of Texas would be $39.66 or $38.66.

She will do the embroidery in Gold. If you don't want embroidery, you don't have to have it and you can deduct that amount from your total. Also, the bags don't all have to be ordered in the same color. So, for everyone that wants red they can have red and those that want blue can have blue. I am going with the Royal Blue. Just don't like the Red. She said we should order them by Middle of March. As time gets closer, I will need everyone's name, address, what they want embroidered, and check.

Maria -- she also does shirts. If we ordered the shirts from her, they could be sent in the same packaging as the bags. Just a thought. If you are interested, I will give you her website, name and number.

Monica -- I could probably pack your bag in my stuff and bring it along so that you wouldn't have to pay both tax and shipping. Let me know.

Here is the latest list of who wants bags. If anyone is not on the list, just let me know if you want to be included.

OHIOMINNIE - NO APOLOGIES NEEDED. We are glad to hear that Mike's condition is not as feared, but sorry that he has a "condition" which despite your excellent rendition - still sounds foreign to me.....and a bit scary.

So, here is something to cheer up Mike... :clown: - pretend it is a balloon on a string.....

I will keep reading to see how he has progressed ---

and hope you have had some sleep so you do not look like this.

:3dglasses My daughter has glasses and enjoys snorkeling. How expensive and difficult is it to get a mask with her prescription in it? I know this is a great place to ask this, so I get to avoid the main board. :fish:

I am sure you have had responses, but here is what I did.

The scuba stores sell masks which take corrective lenses for "distance", which is my problem. They do not correct for signmatisms - and they come in .5 ranges and only up to -9.0.

So my prescription takes a -7.00 on one eye and a -9.75 on the other. I used a 7.00 and a 9.00 and can see fine underwater as the water magnifies a bit.

Good Luck...

Pam...a HUGE HUGE thank you for taking on the bags! It's a lot of work and we appreciate it! :thanks: :flower3: :thumbsup2 :smickey:

She's good, huh? I should have remembered that, too. Megan (and I) did a science project once about how water magnifies. Won 2nd place at the Science Fair, too.

You can get single vision in a mask for $125. Look here for more info.

I would recommend getting lenes in a mask that fit well. Don't spend the money and not have the mask fit well, or leak badly. The best mask is one that fits your/her face!!

You can also get replacement lenses for some masks that aren't real pricy (about $25) but only fit certain masks. Check Divers Direct here for more info.

PS - the post re the lenses - that mask came from Diver's Direct - now watersports world, but Kevin is so right. I had to try on several before I found one that both fit my face and took the lenses.....

On the subject of packing ... how many suitcases does everyone take? I feel this is going to be a SORE subject with DH. He likes to pack light. We only own one large & one smaller suitcase. We can usually pack our clothes in the large one and girls' clothes in the small one. But, I feel this cruise is going to put a wrench in that. What to do? What to do? Now that I think of it, I do have a garment bag & another smaller suitcase that were mine before we got married. They are tucked in the bottom of my closet SOMEWHERE. But, they don't have wheels ... the HORROR! (Hopefully dr. says I still can't carry luggage come May 27).

Ang

Ang - you will neve know we backpack when you see what we pack for the cruise (although I do agree with KikiKaren's comment on day clothes).

We drive - so that eliminates the airline issues -- We tried hanging garment bags our first trip - no tux that time - and what a mistake - the garment bags were on the floor and clothes wrinkled. So in November we bought the largest suitcase wal-mart sold (holds Godzilla, I think) and packed all the formal clothes in bags, crosswise, with shoes etc. Then took a case for day clothes (and we have no kids), plus the dive gear (that was before regs and BCs) and our pitiful carryon's camera and wine .....

About 7 elephants or 2 clydesdales would help carry it.

So, I think you need more suitcases.....

I'm sure I will be re-doing my list a million times between now and the cruise. I guess if I have to make a new list because I've lost weight, then that would be a GOOD thing. Duh.

We'll be in Animator's the first night......maybe we should change our clothes....::yes::

And I would like a copy of the list......

Irene, Netflix is a great idea for your Mom. Not sure about us though. Seems like when we have lots of free evenings, like over Christmas break, we didn't have enough movies to watch. When we got one, we would watch it right away and send it back. Now with evening activities and TV being back to normal, we have four discs waiting for us to watch. Two movies, and two TV series discs. Busy weekend coming up!

I have a confession to make. We opted out of the 24 series and we have started on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Cheesy, but pretty funny sometimes. 24 was just a bit intense.

I planned on making one for everyone later today...and I'll add the items that are also "must-haves" but not clothing.

Have to run to Home Depot first to pick out new tile for the apartment first.....

HEY! We're getting close to another milestone....who claimed it??
