HI Gary! Hi Ang!

Ang, are you back at work these days?

I'm not doing a very good job of keeping up. Sue, are you going cruising?

Yes. I've been back at the office full time since the beginning of the year. I certainly do feel a lot better since I am now out of the hard brace (1 week now).

Ang

Who has a packing list that they are willing to share with me??? Or is there one somewhere on the boards? Are all of you early packers? I'm not. But I guess I need to start figuring out what clothes wer'e all going to need. I'll probably have to buy clothes for the girls. I need to try on all of my clothes ... not sure if they'll fit or not since I still have "pregnant" belly from surgery. Emily actually told me the other night that I look pregnant. That's NOT what I wanted to here ... especially from a 5 year old!!! Guess I need to call the nurse to see if there are any toning exercises that I'm allowed to do. I don't want to look pregnant when I'm not!

Figure out everything you want to take, then put half of the 'daytime' stuff back... no matter what your list says...works every time.

What do you guys think about all of us wearing our Double Scoop shirts to dinner the first night? With Dockers or a skirt?
I don't want to wear a skirt! :rolleyes1

the shirt will be fine though.......

Are we allowed to wear T-shirts to dinner? I mean, I'm buying Polos anyway, but what if you're only buying T-shirts?

maria

OOooops!! double post. sorry

OR....my second thought was.....will they feel a little too scroungy after all day, a sailaway party, and a lifeboat drill???

::yes:: ... at least that's my 2 cents... but then again, I don't know if I'm getting a shirt or not... we've got the 'family' shirts that I had made up as the surprise message... what to do, what to do? Either way, I KNOW I'll want to change into something better for dinner... even on a casual night... but that's just me.

How about wearing them for breakfast the last morning, for debarkation? We would be in them for our "goodbye" photos.

Okay...another question....hang in there, it's long.

We are what, 121 days from sailing? I have been making my packing list, and in order to make that list, I have to make my list of what I am wearing to dinner each night.

Then again, if I finally get off my fat be-hind and lose weight, I'll have to re-do the entire list.
:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Wait until the day before the cruise and then Matt will be able to tell you what he is going to wear, in fact it still might be wet from the washing machine.

o.k. - I really do feel like I'm a slacker - no airplane reservations yet and y'all are talking about what to wear on the 1st and last day...And John thinks I'm a Disney fanatic...

I can barely decide what to wear today...Still in my work-out clothes and I got home around 1:00...

Like the idea of taking out 1/2 of planned day clothes - we did water based shore excursions so, just ended up in a swim suit all day - came back and headed to the rainforest or the nearest deck chair...So, never did wear all of my shorts and t-shirts...

Always need to pack a sweater for the dining rooms - I freeze...

Depending on if I get right of refusal (John does the packing and choosing) then usually the 3 or 4 pairs of heels for each dinner outfit get left at home... Tevas for the beach and water excursions, 1 pair of casual sandals, and one dressy pair are my choices.

Probably only needed one pair of dockers and a dress shirt for Mike with a polo or two and a "formal" dress and a casual dress for Maggie- they ended up only eating in the dining room the first 3 days...(we wanted them to eat with us those days to experience the themes and different rooms and then it was up to them either eat in the club or with us...)

Multiple swimsuits are always a must - I think I packed 3 or 4 - of course as a professional lifeguard - not only avoid putting on a damp suit but, rotating suits keeps the tan lines moving... :thumbsup2

I'm sure we'll change before dinner - the kids will make sure the swim suits are in the carry-on so we'll have swam and played awhile - We'll probably end up just wearing the t-shirts for arrival and then save them for dinner if there's an agreement to wear them to dinner...

Does Jay have any idea of what pictures you are posting? I can hear the conversation now at dinner....Jay, was Dumbo really your favorite ride?

My Dumbo story........14 years ago my first trip to the USA we spent a week at WDW, DH and I were engaged at the time and he refused to go on Dumbo with me (a guy from SA would not be seen riding Dumbo!!!) of course I have never forgotten this and he has never gone with me, he did go with DD when she was 3 as DS was a couple of weeks and I stayed with him, never did get my pic of him either, and I have still never been on Dumbo.

I am a last minute packer, I procastinate till the last minute and have the 'whatever gets forgotten we can buy' view as I don't want to stress over packing for the holiday.

What do your family shirts say, I am making for the family too and been toying with the words as my kids don't know about the cruise yet.

we have extensive packing lists. packed for the last cruise in one night and one evening. if it isn't on the list, we dont' need it. i'd be willing to emial them to you, and you can edit them for your own use (after all, I highly doubt you'll need "mike's eye drops" and won't have access to an "otoscope")

ok guys...guess we found out earlier than planned what was going on (or not going on....as the case may be) sorry to be so secretive, but...well, it started out that mike thought he had a large lymph node above his clavicle and he was sure it was lymphoma. i did NOT want to come on here and say "Mike has cancer" without first having him see a doctor and have it tested....

i'm sorry for not coming clean from the get go....there were lots of anxious times here and i knew that the general prayer for discernement (what do we do) and peace would be good for now....btw, after i posted that prayer request, Mike went from having daily anxiety attacks to being more at ease and ready to tackle whatever it was....

again...another apology...I'm going to cut and paste the email i sent to family into this post b/c i am just too dog tired to write it all out again....

here is what happened....

Hey there all! Some of you I was able to contact, some I weren't...here's the update...
Well, it was an exciting day in the ER. Yes, that's where we were!
Mike has been having intermittant numbness/tingling of his right arm especially if he lifts heavy things (i.e. suitcases) usually he gets some right sided chest pain with it which he has always associated with muscle strain. last summer, a couple of times after exercising (treadmill) his right arm would get numb and tingly, but only for about 10 mintues. sometimes it would be on the left but very mild. last night, during his treadmill time, it got very bad. and did not go away. later in the night (1:00 a.m.) his right leg started to get tingly too. so first thing this morning we packed up the kids, dropped them off at a friend's house, and headed to OSU ER. oh, by the way.... about a week ago he also noticed a lump over his clavicle and was worried about a lymph node and lymphoma. he had an appointment scheduled with is regular doctor for that coming up here soon.
anyway, today in the ER ...first thing was an EKG and cardiac enzymes....negative (no heart attack). chest x-ray...negative.(nothing wrong there) CT of the head....negative (no stroke). intense neurological assessment by the chief resident of neurology....negative except for decreased sensation in his feet. then....BINGO...the test that found something....a doppler/ultrasound study of his peripheral pulses in his arms with his arms in multiple positions. the tech said that most people test "borderline" for this, but Mike tested Dead on accurate.....he has thoracic outlet syndrome. (which is what he suspected in the first place, but after finding the lump he focused more on lymphoma than the less life threatening thoracic outlet syndrome) basically the way his nerves and arteries come through his ribs towards his arms they are being compressed between two muscles. and the right is much worse than the left....hence his symptoms being much worse in the right. yes, it is a rare thing. :) anyway, next time you see him, i'll let him explain it more accurately. anyway...he's STILL at the ER (in the CDU, no, NOT the CTU) because they couldn't get him in for a thalium stress test today (out of time) so he'll have it first thing in the morning. he gets to spend the night there b/c of it.

anyway, just wanted to inform or update you all. i'm sure we'll have more news as tests come in (esp bloodwork....they also tested him for thyroid problems, and B12 deficiency)...
oh, and none of the docs were impressed at all with the "lymph node" and his CBC was all normal, so that's good.

I got about 4 hours of sleep last night and spent 10 hours in the ER so I'm beat. going to snuggle with the kids, watch american idol and go to bed. :)

p.s. Mary, ohiomickey probably has a fat pad....your prayers worked wonders! :) :rotfl2:
