:3dglasses My daughter has glasses and enjoys snorkeling. How expensive and difficult is it to get a mask with her prescription in it? I know this is a great place to ask this, so I get to avoid the main board. :fish:

for those of you who haven't sailed since the magic has been in dry dock...they have all new life jackets. nice ones. not as big and bulky or awkward or smelly!

:woohoo:

I can't wait to see the changes - it'll be just over 2 years since our first trip...

OM, I'm glad that prayers have helped you, Mike, and his health. I'm glad he's where he can get some help and feel better. Enjoy a nice night with the kids and keep the updates coming. You gotta love IDOL.

Just a question that will get Kevin all excited and probably give you more information than you ever wanted. ;)

Ohiominnie, thanks for the update. Glad to hear that at least they know what is going on.

Next time go to UofM ER. They might get you in and out a lot quicker. :lmao:

I can't get too much info...that's why I asked.

OM - Oh the power of prayer!!! He knows the details and our intentions and works through the Physicians even without us knowing the specifics...Just did a bit of research on Mike's diagnosis to try to figure out what it is...A quick search and scan through an article - there's a lot of information out there... Thank you for the update...Keep us posted as much as you can.

OHMinnie - Happy and glad that everything is better and you found out what it really was. The "not knowing" drives me up the wall. I'm always sitting here thinking I have heart problems, a tumor or I'm going to die at a young age(ha-I won't be able to say that too much longer).

Take it easy tonight and hope you get some sleep. Being sleep deprived is the worst. Nite nite.

maria

Ohminnie...still more prayers for Mike, and for you. Glad to hear that it wasn't as bad as thought. Get some rest...you'll be entertaining Scoopie soon!

Susan...I'm sorry, but I'm too tired to check Mary's site...how old is she?
You need to get a copy of her current prescription from your eye doctor, and go to a Dive shop. Not a place like Sports Authority, but a place that sells only scuba and snorkel equipment. They'll help you pick out a mask, and send it off to have the special lens put in. We did ours years ago, and I didn't think it was too terribly expensive then...maybe the price has gone down some.
The reason I asked how old she is was because if she still has a lot of growing to do, you may want to hold off. You can call a dive shop and get an idea of cost first.
It seems as though I came across a catalog/online store a while back that has "peel & stick" inserts with varying prescriptions. I'll have to see if I can find it and send you the link. For a young person, that might be a cheaper route. They were almost like the window clings, and would stick inside the mask.

I was wondering if they were going to do that. Both Princess and Norwegian had thinner life jackets. It didn't seem nearly as bad wearing those. Actually, we didn't wear them on Princess at all. They had us carry them to our muster station, and then gave a demonstration of how to put them on.

I'm just going to pack gunny sacks. I was shopping today, after work, for something decent to wear to the funeral. I came home empty-handed. (Better write that down, it doesn't happen often). Nothing. And I know I don't have anything in the closet.
I'm thinking I may go to the Outlet Mall tomorrow....but there isn't usually much out there to pick from.

p.s. Mary, ohiomickey probably has a fat pad....your prayers worked wonders! :) :rotfl2:

Karen - I said that prayer last night. Dear God please let Ohiomickey have a fat pad! Isn't God wonderful when he answers! :grouphug:

ok guys...

oh, and none of the docs were impressed at all with the "lymph node" and his CBC was all normal, so that's good.

Good news! More prayers and PD your way!!

Stacey - I've been meaning to ask you, the picture you have in your siggy, where is that? Did you renew your vows or something? It's a really nice picture. Just curious.

You can get single vision in a mask for $125. Look here for more info.

I would recommend getting lenes in a mask that fit well. Don't spend the money and not have the mask fit well, or leak badly. The best mask is one that fits your/her face!!

You can also get replacement lenses for some masks that aren't real pricy (about $25) but only fit certain masks. Check Divers Direct here for more info.

Are you saying, it doesn't take much to get me excited?? :lmao:

Karen -- so glad Mike is getting better. I am so sorry you are having to go through all the waiting. I can totally relate since I spent my entire MLK weekend at the hospital with Charley. Continued prayers for your family.

Stacey -- Try going to Dillards. they have a sale going on right now that anyting that is on clearance is an additional 30% off. I got Ashley's formal dress for $35 and I got an outfit that was originally $110 and only paid $37 for it. My Dillards did not have a huge selection, so I think I will try the one by my office tomorrow. (I too need to get off my but and lose some weight, but that hasn't happened yet.
