My vote is for one big box with all the goodies in it - BUT, they have to guess what is in the box. Daddy always made me guess my presents before I could open them...He came up with some strange boxes to....

My vote is one big box, too...

My parents are notorious box camouflagers and re-users...The box label rarely match the contents so, it's become a family tradition to choose just the right box to put your present in - like a Victoria Secret box to either my then-single brother or 80+ year old aunt...

camouflage doesn't look right but, that's what dictionary.com says...who am I to argue...don't think camouflagers is a word -but, it works...

OK... here's my new thought... I am thinking of hanging the luggage tags and the mexican $$ on the paper chain, and stringing the chain on the Christmas tree... I'll have the end of the chain attached to the box under the tree, with the t-shirts and the DCL DVD in the box... hmm... wonder if its too late to find Mic-n-Min Christmas wrap... (yeah, right...) What do you think?

I'd like to save this gift for last, but, if they spot the whole thing sooner, I can just let them at it right then and there...

Yummy that peppermint ice-cream and cheesecake sounds good, I will have to go to see if our Blue Bunny stockists have any, we are a cheesecake loving family so maybe I will try that too, for Thanksgiving this year I made my first pumpkin cheesecake and only my mom and I tried it - don't think I will make it again but the peppermint may have more willing tasters.

Okay so dessert on Monday night here will be caramel filled doughnuts and peppermint cheesecake, don't know whats for dinner but at least dessert is taken care of............ :rotfl2:

Ah, I missed wishing Stacey and the Scubas a good trip. Slept in today. My cat lets me sleep in the morning, but not at night. Go figure.

Stollen for breakfast, hit the nice bread store yesterday! Gotta love the Holidays! Funny that Seth Cohen's (The OC) catch phrase from several years ago, Chrismukkah, has become mainstream. I'm seeing it everywhere! No, I don't watch the OC anymore.

Alicia and a friend are going "shopping" today at the mall. Better them than me, but I have to drop off and pick up. Unless I can talk Kevin into picking up? It's funny, I never get sick, except at Christmas. Right on time, I'm getting sick.

OK, who is Foamy?

I like this... follow the chain!

The last time we took Alicia out of school was 6th grade for a cruise. She had a two day "fall break", so she missed three days. Her teachers were great about it, except for the chorus teacher. That was kind of funny. She did miss three days last year too, forgot, but it was the last few days before Winter break. We had to leave for the 10 days cruise, and the kids didn't get out until something like the 22nd. I guess there weren't many kids in school, because they changed that this year, the break started on Monday. With the charter school, she was finished last Wednesday the 14th. The teachers told the kids, if you don't have finals to make up, don't come to school. This school has a policy of excusing kids for performances, tours, etc. I don't know if we could make a case for a WDW trip, though, unless we claimed that she's dancing there!

Luckily, the Double Scoop Cruise falls just 3 days after school gets out for the year (which is why we booked when we did...) I just hope the kids can survive the 'wait' to enjoy their Christmas present! I said that I wasn't going to spend as much this year because the cruise would be the 'big gift'... but that didn't happen... oh well.

Nice idea. You might have some sort of hide-n-seek diversion ready to remove them from the room right before drape the tree with it. :teeth:

It's called sleep... I'll hang it on the tree after they go to bed.

Actually, Santa isn't giving them the cruise... we are... I want them to understand that $3500+ gifts don't just fall down the chimney from the North Pole... Santa will bring them their usual 3 gifts, wrapped in "Santaface" paper...

They have never once given me any indication that they have clued into the whole Santa thing... who am I to question them...

Our school finishes on May26th so we will pull them out a couple of hours early to drive down and try miss the rush.

We now sign forms at the beginning of the school year that we acknowledge the new law that was passed that we can be fined or imprissoned for the kids missing more than 5 days. A couple of weeks back they interveiwed on the news a lady who was arrested for her kids missing school.

Just threw out a bag of toys, puzzle pieces etc while tidying up the toy closet, still got some tidying to do and then will go shop, 4 days off with nothing much to do, or should I say nothing I want to be doing at home. :rotfl:

That's where we are too. Mine both "believe." Do they really? Who knows!! But who am I to crush their childhood innocence if in fact they DO believe!! A problem with homeschooling....they aren't exposed to all of the other more "mature" kids.....a benefit of homeschooling....they aren't exposed to all of the other "mature" kids! :)

I may be odd man out on this one but peppermint ice cream and peppermint cheesecake don't sound appealling to me at all. Maybe if I gave them a try I'd like them.

Lovely....and just before Christmas.
Mike's cousin called upset b/c Mike's office will not let him schedule an appointment for his baby (approx 6 months old) He doesn't take them to Mike's office. He just wants Mike to see the kid b/c he's sick. Mike's office has a policy where they do not see kids unless they are part of the practice and have records transferred....too many docs handing one kid and something is going to get missed, or duplicated. So now cousin is steaming that Mike won't see the kid. I tried to explain the policy and the reasoning, but he wanted Mike to call. Said "Mike said he thought the baby should come in and now they won't let me." I asked when Mike said that.....the answer? 3 weeks ago!! Well, you're all over that, aren't you?? Anyway.....I call Mike...apparently they want to bring the kid in for a "second opinion" and Mike's office does not do "second opinions." So I said "ball's in your court, I can now honestly say I gave you the message!!!"

So Mike may decide not to call b/c cousin is being a butt. Which should make Christmas eve interesting! HA!

When Elizabeth was younger, she had this total phobia about anyone coming to the house in the middle of the night... tooth fairy, Easter Bunny, Santa Claus... to the point that she WOULD NOT SLEEP a wink! When Christopher lost her first tooth, she cried and cried because she didn't want to go to sleep that night... so I filled her in on TF, and made HER his TF (he still doesn't know... and if he does, he doesn't know that its her, and not me)... She figured out the Easter Bunny bit shortly after that, but has never given me any indication that she doesn't believe in Santa (thanks, Polar Express!!)... I hintingly told her once that Santa is REALLY GOOD FRIENDS with the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy, but she didn't seem to get it... good.

I'm with you....I don't really like peppermint. (gasp) I can TOLERATE the mints they give you at a restaurant, but only b/c they are there and free!

I haven't eaten a candy cane in years. :)

I bought Mickey candy canes this year. They are not peppermint flavor though. I can't remember what all of the flavors are but one is butterscotch ... YUMMY!

Don't really like Candy Canes - Don't want that much candy all at once - the little round starlight mints are just perfect, like the ones you get at a restaurant. Some restaurants even have the chocolate peppermint ones yum!! Someone gave me a cinnimon candy cane - good, too but, again, can't each that much candy in one sitting - chocolate is a whole 'nother story... :rotfl2:

I looked and looked, but didn't see my favorite Christmas carol.....

I'm gettin' nuthin' for Christmas!

Broke my bat on Johnny's head;
Somebody snitched on me.
I hid a frog in sister's bed;
Somebody snitched on me.

I spilled some ink on Mommy's rug;
I made Tommy eat a bug;
Bought some gum with a penny slug;
Somebody snitched on me.

CHORUS
Oh, I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas
Mommy and Daddy are mad.
I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas
'Cause I ain't been nuttin' but bad.

I won't be seeing Santa Claus;
Somebody snitched on me.
He won't come visit me because
Somebody snitched on me.

Next year I'll be going straight;
Next year I'll be good, just wait
I'd start now, but it's too late;
Somebody snitched on me.

So you better be good whatever you do
'Cause if you're bad, I'm warning you,
You'll get nuttin' for Christmas.

that's one of my favorite silly ones too - my mom always used to get a lot of milage out of that song...
