Gotta love those smilies!

I got rid of mine, and I do miss them......... but they were causing me a little trouble with the computer. (and a great big thank you to the "Elf" who clued me in on that!)

Mine don't 'live' on my computer... so they are no trouble at all... kind of like relatives who live close enough not to stay overnight after Christmas dinner...

hey look... I've got a milestone post coming up... what to say, what to say??

Our kids have been out for a week already... I'm not so sure I like the idea of a full week off before Christmas... it just makes them CRAZY by the time Christmas gets here!!! Then they've STILL got another week-and-a-half off AFTER!!! It's just too long for them to be out of school!

Thankfully, my parents are here this year, and are enjoying making up for lost time with the kids... if not, they'd be at the Y, and hating it, as usual.
I thought you guys needed more school days to make up for the hurricane days off??

ps; Foamy rocks!

Hey, check out what Mike built me for Christmas. All from scratch:

It's got all the bells and whistles.....massive and multiple hard drives....more memory than i have! And my favorite...a built in media card reader!!! :) And it looks REALLY cool at night with the blue illuminating! :)
WTG Mike!!

A computer AND a night light!! Pretty awesome!! Does it have one of those "drink holders" built in??? :rotfl2:

That's the trouble with all the "free" stuff on the web. It's NOT!! :earseek:
Had to work pretty hard on Alicia about that very thing!!

OK... I've had over a year to figure out how to actually 'give' my kids their BIG GIFT... you know... the CRUISE!!!! And the clock is ticking, and I haven't quite figured it out.

Here's what I've got... I abandonded the 'treasure chest' idea, but still want to do something...

I made the 152 link paper chain, (with a fun fact, quote, thought of the day, or silly nonsense on every single one). When my kids were little, this was how they loved to count down every big event... so I thought I'd make a huge one and wrap it up.

I have personalized shirts for all 4 of us that say "We're Going on the Disney Cruise Line - May 27, 2006 - Ray, Karen, Elizabeth & Christopher" (Disney wouldn't put the wording that I wanted on them, and sent them without my approval... I kept them anyway.)

I have a set of DCL character luggage tags (THANKS, IRENE!!!) that I'm going to fill out with their names on them

I have a 100 cein bill from Mexico

I can't decide if I want to do clues on the luggage tags that lead up to the big box with the paper chain and the t-shirts... they might figure it out from the first tag, then that would be no fun... HELP!!!!

ps; Foamy rocks!

We had 2 hurricane days to make up this year... one took the place of Veteran's Day, and they got out for Christmas on Dec 16 instead of Dec 15.

Yes, Foamy does rock!

Karen - the new computer looks great. Mike did a great job!

Stacey - have a safe trip down to Houston and on the cruise.

Monica - we'll want to see pictures of your mini-meet tonight!

looking at ice cream when she asked me and another woman if we had ever heard of Peppermint Stick ice cream. I told her it was my favorite growing up, but hard to find here.

That is Mike's FAVORITE ice cream. He's bummed after Christmas and we can't find it anymore (and it is hard to find DURING Christmas) I did find a recipe (who knows where I put it) about how to mix up peppermint stick ice cream on your own...

something about vanilla ice cream, peppermint extract and crushed candy canes ...so get extra candy canes now so you can make peppermint stick ice cream in July (I know I did!)

Yup...retractable drink holder! Well, it DID Have one....until I put my supersize jumbo big gulp on it and broke it off!! :)

No one is here today so I will be leaving soon/

I am looking to see if I have the words to Gummy the Mudman Florida Christmas song Sam and I butchered so I can post it to you guys...

Love all the plans - thus far....I must go grocery shopping now last night food is eaten -- for Christmas Dinner and Boxing Day.

Karen - what to do - what to do - what to do......?????? And I saw cheap treasure chests the other day and thought of you - where - where were they?

My vote is for one big box with all the goodies in it - BUT, they have to guess what is in the box. Daddy always made me guess my presents before I could open them...He came up with some strange boxes to....

OK... so my 3000th post comes on the doorstep of Christmas, my favorite time of the year... what better way to celebrate both than with a song befitting of this bunch... after all, it IS Friday morning, even though Friday karaoke has faded into the sunset...

A Sailor's Christmas (Courtesy of Jimmy Buffett)

Sail on the horizons gotta landfall rendezvous
Captain steers a well-known course, he steers straight & true
As he trims the sheets, he sings a song
He learned on boats and bars
Sailor spends his Christmas in a harbour 'neath the stars

He's traveled through the doldrums, typhoons and hurricanes
He's logged a million soggy miles with water on his brain
But Christmas is the season better suited for dry land
He'll tell some lies, meet some spies
And dance barefoot in the sand

The sailor spends his Christmas in a harbour on the hook
Caye con les, no work today, let's shell the ol' log book
The waterfront is reveling, the season has begun
The sailor spends his Christmas in a harbour having fun.

There's a party down at Le Selecte, music, rum and cheers
Faces in the shadows, God, I haven't seen for years
A mast & shroud fill with lights
'Neath the waning of the moon
They're an airy celebration in the realm of King Neptune.

The sailor spends his Christmas in a harbour on the hook
Caye con les, no work today, let's shell the ol' log book
The waterfront is reveling, the season has begun
The sailor spends his Christmas in a harbour having fun.

Jesus was a fisherman who walked upon the sea
The North Pole is ocean's remote frozen balcony
The continents keep drifting but the children sing and play
'Cause nothing really matters, after all it's Christmas day

The sailor spends his Christmas in a harbour on the hook.
Vaye con les, no work today, he read it in a book
The waterfront is reveling, the season has begun
A sailor spends his Christmas in a harbour having fun
A sailor spends his Christmas in a harbour having fun
Havin' fun... havin' fun...havin' fun

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all of my great DIS friends!!

Thank you, Mary, for the travel wishes!

Ohminnie, yes...that's how I've made my own peppermint ice cream....but you can buy the Brach's peppermints and wintergreens all year! ;)

And.....one of my favorite silly Christmas songs:

I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do........

Signing off.....heading out!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HANUKKAH!!

Wow ... social workers calling! What did they say? Did they really give you a hard time? I was starting to think that it would be nice to go to Disney next year for Christmas but it would be nice to do it without the crowds (i.e., pull Emily out of school for a few days). She'll be in 1st grade next year. But, I don't want social workers calling!

If you are in Fulton County which I gather you are, they have gotten really sticky with taking the kids out, my sister took her kids to South Africa to see the family as her FIL was not well and her BIL has a transplant and she had them calling and had to provide medical records. We of course think it is ridiculous and think it important for the kids to be exposed to other cultures etc, they do not see it like that and say we have enough time in summer to travel but I prefer to have less crowds and the southern hemishphere has winter then and medical things happen at any time!!

Guess I am venting again!!

Yep ... we're in Fulton County public schools too.
