Matt and I are off to Key Largo. It should be an interesting weekend of diving. Some sites say seas of 4-6 ft while others say a chop. That really is not much different than letting Matt drive. Guess we will just have to get on the boat to find out.

I have some Port packed so we should be okay if the winds do not coorporate. :rotfl:

Sharon and Lisa stay home and get ready for next weekend. They are getting packed for our trip to the horse ranch in GA.

Have a good weekend.

Drive safe. I am not thrilled with the weather report.....I hope the seas cooperate and he weather improves. Maybe?

Saturday
East winds near 15 knots. Seas beyond the reef 3 to 5 feet...except higher in the Gulf Stream. Seas inside the reef around 2 feet. Nearshore waters a moderate chop. Isolated showers.
Saturday Night
East to southeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas beyond the reef 2 to 4 feet. Seas inside the reef 1 to 2 feet. Nearshore waters a light to moderate chop. Isolated showers.
Sunday
Southeast to south winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas beyond the reef 2 to 4 feet. Seas inside the reef 1 to 2 feet. Nearshore waters a light to moderate chop. Isolated showers.

I think I am ready for Christmas (or at least that is what I am telling myself, so I can go diving this weekend.)

Mailed the last present yesterday and I think the cards are completed. Still no Office cards --- not happy with this printer at all.....

I found the missing presents - in plain site, no less, on the kitchen table in a small bag, where was I looking before? Oh well. Maybe a weekend break will be a good thing.

Has anyone ever tried to return Gift Cards? I have already found "homes" for the other presetns I had to re-purchase.

Grocery shoping when we return for the Big Day...and oh, yes, cleaning the house.....

Amanda,

How much is the "Dream Life" game? I think my DD, Katie would really get a kick out of it. She's a 3rd grader. Is that considered a "tween"? :confused3
Susan,
On the box it says ages 8+ , surprisingly it was not on my DDs list:confused3 But it was $39.99 + 7% tax...Anywho..off to work now, let me know have a great day everyone! TGIF!

Good morning all!

Emily will be home with me today. She's running a fever and her throat is almost swollen shut. I'm not sure if I should take her to the dr. or just let "it" run its course. Any suggestions?

It's cold her this morning but should be warming up to about 50 today - a big improvement over yesterday.

All of you divers, have fun this weekend. I hope the weather cooperates!

I miss having Broadway Series tickets. When I lived in New Orleans area, my girlfriends & I had season tix (actually they still have them in my name!) to the Saenger Theater in New Orleans. We had the "cloud club" tickets on a Thurs. night. We paid around $100 for a season of tickets. They were "nose-bleed" seats but a Thurs. night was never crowded, except for Phantom, so we always got to move down to the lower balcony. It was always a great night. We'd go have dinner at a nice restaurant, have some drinks then see a great show.

We didn't do the Broadway series this year - there wasn't much that we felt the kids would enjoy - we miss going this year. Cats was put on by our big regional theatre with guest performers in the two lead roles. The regional theatre has a great line-up for this year - but, never having seen any of their shows we thought Cats would be a good one to try out. Unfortunately, their ticket prices are more expensive as the Broadway Across America series so, our expectations of quality given the price weren't met. Cats is a difficult show to do both musically and physically and, it wasn't bad-it just wasn't worth $80-if I would have paid about 1/2 I would have been happier - being more involved in theatre and a sound nerd for a husband - we've developed more an ear for the technical details that probably the general audience may not hear. It may not have been a good show to try out - especially near the end of their run. About 1/2 the cast was local performers and the other half had a history of Broadway touring - by the end of the night - we could pick out who was who because of their stamina...

All in all, I'm glad we went - it's a wonderful show - and we had a great family night all dressed up...

I usually let things run their course but, given it's a Friday - I'd call - I'd rather pay the co-pay for them to tell me it has to run it's course than the possibility of things worsening over the weekend...Plus - get her better faster for Christmas...

Edited to add...Do you have a "Telephone Nurse" at the dr's who's available for questions? If I'm not sure, I usually will call in with the symptoms and she will advise OTC or appointment if she feels it's needed...

Glad you had fun Monica. Saw Cats years ago in Baltimore, a local troupe. Sorry about the little one Ang.

Talked to DH. He said to wait it out. Our ped's office is open tomorrow for sick visits. We also have a satellite office of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta that is open 7 days a week from 10-10 (or something like that). So we have other options if she gets worse over the weekend.

Hey OHMinnie or Virgil (or any other drs. or nurses out there),

What are the symptoms of strep throat? DH just thinks I'm reading in to much to Emily's symptoms.

Sore throat - sort of a slimy looking covering in the back of the throat - sometimes a rash (scarletina - red, feels like sandpaper). No easy way to tell between viral and strep unless they have the rash.

Tough call. Strep "usually" is sore throat, headache, fever, belly ache. Sometimes a red scratchy rash (Scarlet fever).....

But not always.

Mike recently had some throat thing....AMAZINGLY sore throat, headache, fever, belly ache and the UGLIEST throat you ever wanted to see in your life. Two cultures a couple of days apart were negative–he would have sworn it was strep!!

Can't really tell by looking....he's seen NASTY throats that were not strep....just as he's seen almost normal throats that WERE strep. Only way to tell for sure is a culture.

He's doing a ton of cultures every day....lots of kids coming in with those symptoms. About 5% of them actually are strep....so you have a good chance that it's NOT strep.

Has anyone in her class recently had strep?

Gwinnett County. Only one left in public schools (Tori who's 12). We get out for Winter Break tomorrow and go back on January 4th.

I also have a UGA 3rd year student (Rachel) and a son (Eric) who graduated Georgia Tech several years back and lives over near Alpharetta!!

:wave2:

We will be in your area (Gwinnett) on January 13 for Lisa's first meet of the season (Atlanta Crown Meet sponsered by Gwinnett Gymnastics). Unfortunately she is scheduled for 8am on Friday Morning (the meet is all weekend long). So, she will be missing school. (I am just hoping Jim will be able to go to this meet or I can work something out with her Coach. I really don't want to drive to Atlanta)

Then - the next week is back "home" again. She is at the WDW Wide World of Sports for the Sandollar Invatational. I wonder is Fran's daughter Kelly will be at that meet. We haven't "heard" from her lately.

That can be an interesting time of year to visit Atlanta! Never know WHAT kind of weather we'll be having! I know it's a long drive, but as long as there aren't any "ice" storms, it's not a bad drive!! Just watch what time you plan to drive *in* Atlanta - that can be the really tricky part! Is the Meet being held at the Gymnastics Center or is it at Gwinnett Arena?

And since we're talking about weather....

Y'all are in the 60's/70's during the day? 50's at night? I'm trying to figure out what to pack for WDW. I'm more concerned with during the day - shorts; capris; short sleeve tops? Thanks!
