Hi Ang, hope your day went well! I got your info and I am sure we will be discussing everything in lots of detail.

I took Jeanne to Grandparents day at Nick and Emmy's school. Nick was an 8 yo trying not to be pleased we were there. Saw spelling and reading. What is with the finger snapping? Then went to see the kindergarten class. Gee they are cute. Emmy is the line leader this week and very proud. She also came over and gave both of us a big hug and kiss. Meant a great deal to Mom.

Sue

Sue, finger snapping, as in beatnik poetry readings? We were just talking about this the other day, Alicia was going to a poetry jam with her friend. They clap at those, though.

I did have a good day. We went to see the kindergarten show in Emily's classroom then all to the cafetorium for lunch. It was very nice. This was NOT the school Thanksgiving lunch that I remember. It was actually real turkey! The 5th grade choir performed while everyone ate lunch ... very nice. Afterward I came home for a 30 min. rest. Then my parents took me over to my office. I probably stayed too long but it was nice to visit with everyone & NOT have to go back to work. To my surprise I got my 5 year award certificate. I had completely forgotten that I made 5 years on Nov. 1. I get to choose a gift. I think I'll get the Seiko stainless/gold ladies watch. I've been wanting a new watch lately. Even though it's not exactly what I want, it's free. Unless there is something that DH wants, I'll get the watch. Even better than the free gift is the fact that I'll be getting 3 weeks of vacation now!!! :cool1:

Told my manager that I'll go back to work part-time from home the week after Thanksgiving. He was happy to hear that and will be VERY accommodating to my needs. I'm very fortunate to work for him.

Finger-snapping while they are reading? Helps get a rhythm going, as opposed to monotone.
The teachers now snap their fingers, and hold a finger up when they need attention or silence. I guess it beats yelling.

Princess, by the way, DID leave St Maarten without four people.

And DCL almost left without the PRINCESS, anyone remember that?? Wasn't that in St Maarten, also?

I honestly don't remember which night that was, either Maarten or Lucia, one of those ST islands. And that was funny and shows how dense some can be; they have signs everywhere and keep telling people over and over, but this clueless wonder couldn't be bothered with that. She asked someone in town, who, of course had no clue either. And then shows up at the pier after the ship has been all buttoned up with her handfuls of cutsie little bags from the 'name' shops and stamps her little foot and they put out a gangplank for her finally. Someone like that deserves to get left behind. But not even her if it was at the expense of a child left on board in the kids club. Can't penalize the kid for the parent being an idiot.

The "Princess" did have kids....and they weren't out there on the dock with her, so I assume they were on the ship....but their Dad was with them. Might have done him a great service to leave her behind. But we would have been pretty bored at dinner from then on, without her to entertain us!

And to think, Virgil wouldn't let Lauren get her autograph!

A T.O.P. with Lauren and SCROOGE!

That is what my sister said. Gives the kids a rhythm. And I have seen the little ones hold up the finger when they are told to be quiet. Times have really changed!

Oops! Pointer for count one, tallman for two and ringman for three. Although I have seen a few mistakes.

Or, just hold up all three and let the receiver "read between the lines!"

I got this the other day and thought it was interesting. Something in there for everybody!

Try it you'll like it

WD-40

I thought that you might like to know more about this well-known
WD-40 product.

When you read the "shower door" part, try it. It's the first thing
that has cleaned that spotty shower door. If yours is plastic, it works
just as well as glass. It's a miracle!

Then try it on your stovetop... Viola! It's now shinier than it's
ever been. You'll be amazed.

The product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent and
degreaser to protect missile parts. WD-40 was created in 1953 by three
technicians at the San Diego Rocket Chemical Company. Its name comes
from the project that was to find a "Water Displacement" compound.
They were successful with the Fortieth formulation, thus WD-40.

The Corvair Company bought it in bulk to protect their Atlas missile
parts.

The workers were so pleased with the product they began smuggling
(also known as "shrinkage" or "stealing") it out to use at home.

The executives decided there might be a consumer market for it and
put it in aerosol cans. The rest is history. It is a carefully guarded recipe
known only to four people. One of them is the "brew master." There are
about 2.5 million gallons of the stuff manufactured each year. It gets
its distinctive smell from a fragrance that is added to the brew.
Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in WD-40
that would hurt you.

Here are a few of the 1000s of uses:

~Protects silver from tarnishing
~Cleans and lubricates guitar strings
~Gets oil spots off concrete driveways
~Gives floors that 'just-waxed' sheen without making it slippery
~Keeps flies off cows ~Restores and cleans chalkboards
~Removes lipstick stains
~Loosens stubborn zippers
~Untangles jewelry chains
~Removes stains from stainless steel sinks
~Removes dirt and grime from the barbecue grill
~Keeps ceramic/terra cotta garden pots from oxidizing
~Removes tomato stains from clothing
~Keeps glass shower doors free of water spots
~Camouflages scratches in ceramic and marble floors
~Keeps scissors working smoothly
~Lubricates noisy door hinges on vehicles and doors in homes
~Gives a children's play gym slide a shine for a super fast slide
~Lubricates gear shift and mower - deck lever for ease of handling on
riding mowers
~Rids rocking chairs and swings of squeaky noises
~Lubricates tracks in sticking home windows and makes them easier to
open
~Spraying an umbrella stem makes it easier to open and close
~Restores and cleans padded leather dashboards and vinyl bumpers
~Restores and cleans roof racks on vehicles
~Lubricates and stops squeaks in electric fans
~Lubricates wheel sprockets on tricycles, wagons and bicycles for
easy handling
~Lubricates fan belts on washers and dryers and keeps them running
smoothly
~Keeps rust from forming on saws and saw blades, and other tools
~Removes splattered grease on stove
~Keeps bathroom mirror from fogging
~Lubricates prosthetic limbs
~Keeps pigeons off the balcony (they hate the smell)
~Removes all traces of duct tape
~I have even heard of folks spraying it on their arms, hands, and
knees to relieve arthritis pain.

~Florida's favorite use was "cleans and removes love bugs from grills
and bumpers
~The favorite use in the state of New York WD-40 protects the Statue
of Liberty from the elements.
~WD-40 attracts fish. Spray a LITTLE on live bait or lures and you
will be catching the big one in no time. It's a lot cheaper than the
chemical attractants that are made for just that purpose. Keep in mind though,
using some chemical laced baits or lures for fishing are not allowed in
some states.
~Keeps away chiggers on the kids
~Use it for fire ant bites. It takes the sting away immediately, and
stops the itch.

~WD-40 is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray on the mark and
wipe with a clean rag.

~Also, if you've discovered that you have washed and dried a tube of
lipstick with a load of laundry, saturate the lipstick spots with WD-40
and re-wash. Presto! Lipstick is gone!

~If you sprayed WD-40 on the distributor cap, it would displace the
moisture and allow the car to start.

~WD-40, long known for its ability to remove leftover tape smudges
(sticky label tape), is also a lovely perfume and air freshener!
Sprayed liberally on every hinge in the house, it leaves that distinctive
clean fresh scent for up to two days!

~Seriously though, it removes black scuff marks from the kitchen floor!
Use WD-40 for those nasty tar and scuff marks on flooring. It doesn't
seem to harm the finish and you won't have to scrub nearly as hard to
get them off. Just remember to open some windows if you have a lot of
marks.

~Bug guts will eat away the finish on your car if not removed quickly!
Use WD-40!

At least you didn't tell me I was "full of it"!! :rotfl:

I just gotta tell you all what happened to me today. Being on the computer has paid off today.

I was looking at airfare for May/June and thought I would just check the flights for my upcoming December trip to Florida. Well, looks like the fare right now is $200 cheaper than what I paid. The airline is JetBlue (who I love to fly). So, I get on the phone right away and explain to the customer service rep. and she credits my account the $200. Now mind you, they don't GIVE you the money back, instead put it on-account for you. Which is fine for me cause I still didn't book May's trip yet.

Isn't that cool? I am soooo excited. I don't know what made me check out this trip. I even left the room and came back to check it out. So I tell my DH, "See honey, sitting in front of the computer has paid off". I don't think he was as excited as I was. He will be in May when we save $200. Waaahoooo!!!!

Just had to tell ya. I know some of the ladies will enjoy the thought of saving $200. Things like this hardly ever happen to me.

Thanks for listening.

Kevin, you should spray yourself the next time you do a shark dive. I'll pack a can for our Key Largo trip. :rotfl2:

Just came back from the best steak & lobster dinner ever... FL mini-lobster season was a few weeks ago, and my boss had to empty the lobster from his freezer now that deer season has begun again... thick juicy steaks, grilled lobster tails, all the 'fixins', ice cold Bud, all served around a roaring bonfire at his hunting camp... not Palo, but the food was INCREDIBLE!!! Angie... you're right- its GREAT to have a good boss!!!!

hmm, if he's not excited, does that mean the $200 is all yours? Think that means a spa trip or two...
