Good morning all. Can't believe that we are down to 29 weeks. Doesn't seem possible. Had a quiet night last night, but an early morning today. Ashley had swim practice at 7 a.m. (yuck), but we were home by 9:30 and I got to go to the grocery store early. Now I just need to finish putting those groceries away before I have to take her to her clarinet lesson. It got pushed to 1:00 p.m. today.

Have a great day everyone:flower: It is gorgeous weather here in West Texas.

Now if only Kiki had thought of this one!! :rotfl2:

That was a good one. There are some good Bud ads coming out pretty soon... especially a Christmas Clydesdale one that's really cute. Some stupid ones for Bud Light on the way, too... hopefully the focus groups decide that they are too stupid for TV...

There are 2 new online ones too... just broke this week... go to the bud website, and check out 'pinky finger' and 'mini mouth'... I'd e-mail the link to everyone, but that would just take too long... and I'm just too lazy right now!

I guess it does pay to have our own moderators!

When does Stacey come home from her cruise? Guess she'll get home tonight & the boards will be down.

Ang

I miss Stacey! Come bakc Stacey! You must return Stacey! You will post soon Stacey! ( Think she is hypnotized yet??? )

wow, everyone must be really busy today, slow boards. We are in the middle of cooking dinner (green chili enchiladas, pinto beans, spanish rice and peach pie for dessert) Tonight is family night, so everyone helps make dinner and then we are going to watch the new Star Wars together. See ya'll later.

Pam,
Green chile sounds lovely.
DH just told me that we are now in the same sitch as your DH. He did not check with me to verify what vacation days he needed, and did not pick the week on our cruise. Sigh....husbands.....He seems to think that since he picked 4th of July week that he will be able to trade with whomever has Memorial Day week. I told him, that he could go with us to WDW prior to cruise ( he got that week) but he would need to drive us to the port if he doesn't get that week! LOL How long has this man known about this cruise? For over a year...God love him.......and bless his heart.

Oh Amanda -- that is terrible about your husband. We still don't know anything, and the waiting is killing us. It is so far for us to go to WDW from here and next year will be out last trip for a couple of years. Hubby doesn't want to miss the week at WDW. I just hope we get his resolved very soon. We are flying on frequent flyer miles that my brother gave me and if we wait too long, I am afraid I won't be able to change his flight if he has to come back home after the cruise.

Good Evening All....

I was up early but not posting as it was hurricane clean-up weekend AGAIN.... My other Disers are all talking about packing and cruise related things, we are going to be really pressed at the end of this week, oh well....

Today was another work day around the house and garden, no time to pack yet. Best friend just got power back on yesterday and we still have 68,000 in our County alone, without power.....yikes.....

DH spent the day helping neighbors propping up trees and cutting down one that fell across our fence...So, Jim - when you see the bruises, I wasn't me, it was the tree. We are wearing his and her bandages on our hands....

Halloween decorations are all packed away and I put a few Thanksgiving ones up so it would look like fall - since it is 85 - it has turned warm again....

The Orchid house it righted, but many of the plants need TLC - They will need to wait until we return.

A very productive day....tomorrow is another....Early Mass and then Home Depot for more 2x4's to prop up vegetation - and then Dive Store - just in case, and Mother's and grocery store for Mother -

I think I shall make Ropa Vieja with turkey thigh meat in my very unimaginative crock-pot. Still, it will taste good.

Amanda - good luck with the DH and schedule....I'm sure it will work out...Pam's too.....

Ok - later.... :wave2:

Pirates open fire on US cruise ship off Somalia
[font=Verdana,Sans-serif]By Daniel Wallis

NAIROBI (Reuters) - Pirates fired rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns at a U.S.-owned cruise ship carrying more than 300 people in the Indian Ocean on Saturday but the vessel escaped and no one was hurt, its owners said.

Men in two small boats approached the Seabourn Cruise Line ship Spirit about 100 miles off the Somali coast, fired on it and tried to board in an apparent bid to rob passengers and crew, cruise line spokesman Bruce Good said.

"I looked out of the window and saw a small boat with about five people in it about 20 yards away," said Norman Fisher, 55, a passenger.

"They were firing the rifle and then fired the rocket launcher twice. One of the rockets certainly hit the ship. It went through the side of the liner into a passenger's suite."

The 161-member crew gathered the 151 passengers into a central lounge away from windows and decks during the attack, said Good.

"The captain managed to change the course of the vessel and speed away. Most of the passengers are believed to be Americans or Western Europeans. No one was hurt," said Andrew Mwangura, program coordinator for the Seafarers' Association in neighboring Kenya.

Good said training had helped the crew repel the attack.

"There were some windows broken, nothing that affected seaworthiness," Good said. "The crew did an excellent job and those guys gave up. ... These guys didn't plan this too well."

DANGEROUS WATERS

The Indian Ocean waters off the Somali coast are classed as among the most dangerous in the world. Typically pirates target freighters that carry only a handful of crew members.

The Bahamian-registered Seabourn ship was on a 16-day cruise from Egypt to Mombasa, Kenya. The 10,000-ton vessel sailed on to the Seychelles Islands, where passengers were to disembark and fly to Mombasa, Good said.

Seabourn is headquartered in Miami and is a subsidiary of Carnival Corp., the world's largest cruise group.

Fisher said the captain tried to ram one of the boats in an attempt to capsize it and stop them getting aboard.

"The captain didn't sound the usual alarm because he was worried that people would run up on the deck thinking it was a fire, and that would be the worst place to be," he said.

"Instead he made an announcement at five past six, saying: 'Stay inside, stay inside, we are under attack."'

The Spirit's passengers included 48 Americans, 22 from the United Kingdom, 21 Canadians, 19 Germans, 19 Australians and six South Africans. The others were mostly from other European nations, Good said.

Authorities in the United States, United Kingdom and Seychelles were investigating, Good said.

Hijackers have commandeered two vessels used by the U.N. World Food Program this year and ship owners now demand armed escorts to travel in the waters, the agency said.

This week, the London-based International Maritime Bureau said it knew of 27 pirate attacks off Somalia since March.

The attacks highlight insecurity in Somalia, without a government since warlords ousted dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in 1991.

I heard about it. I guess those weren't Disney pirates! I can't imagine cruising to that part of the world, though.

Hard to believe a Seabourn yacht would be that close to trouble....

Sorry, old timer's disease. I didn't click on the link in your post (didn't have time to read it at that time) so it didn't sink into my brain.

THAT is why I'm not an ER doc....
well, that and a severe lack of training!! ;)

Another punny one:

In the middle ages, there was a traveling show famous across Europe for
its spectacular, death-defying acts.

People who went to the show were always on the edge of their seats.
Because the stunts were so daring, the show was called "The Show of
Tension." And the performers came to be known as "Tensions."

War and sickness soon swept through Europe, bringing poverty to many
people. Sadly, the traveling show couldn't survive. People just weren't
able to pay a Tension anymore.
