Hey Gunka, that DVC thread is in its last minute frenzy, right? Not to worry, we'll catch up.

Helping us out with posts - could be preparing but nope - helping out with posts.

This morning, I overheard a cell phone conversation, and thought the lady was saying good-bye to her spouse who was at home for the storm...there are a lot of S. Fla. people here.

No, she replies; "My son just returned from Iraq and it is the first time I have spoken to him" I had no idea who she was, but she seemed as if she was here by herself. I said, I think that needs a hug.

We shared hugs and tears in the stairwell (cell phone reception is only outside). She was so happy she did not want to let go. I think she was hugging her son.

The hurricane is through Florida and getting ready to hit the panhandle again. The initial reports are trees and power down, but not much structural damage. I'm sure people will be using blue tarps and looking for shingles.

Guess I'm not going to Ft Lauderdale diving this weekend.

From some of the reports, you could scuba in the street.

Isn't wireless great - the panhandle folk are all clustered around the laptops trying to decide when to go home.......

Did the machine REALLY think you would say, "No, thank you, I'll pay full price."

The station I fill up at was $2.66 yesterday, and $2.56 today... of course, I filled up YESTERDAY... granted, its a company car with a company gas card, but still... I don't want the company to pay any more than necessary either!!!! (More $ for fuel means less $ in my Marketing Budget...)

Heard the Governor this am concerned that we may have another shortage - Ft. L. port is closed, Tampa may be down.....

My advice - FILL UP!!!!

You can always teach her the way my father taught me - he got into the car with a cup of coffee (a regular coffee cup - not a travel cup) and said "You WILL shift smooth...."

My daddy took me to the top of the only Hill in Florida and then said: "Let the clutch out...." okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay......

The weather here is fine. The beach is gorgeous. Thanks to the conference director - I have a room on the beach - swell.....Turned off the air and slept with the windows open....this morning I was up for sunrise - a walk in the beach and a swim in the surf. Some stupid crab bite me....yikes.

Took a stroll with a neat dog - german pointer and his master - ut the waves were too rough for snorkeling and I packed too quickly to bring my old glasses and i was not going to lose new glasses in the surf.....so, I took a simin the pool before a cup of coffee, mor like a pot of coffee on, on the balcony.

ok - must move. I have been accused of playing video games in the corner.

Better dust off the DC for the "presentation". I miss DH - since it is so pretty here......wish I could share....

yet sometime in between, I need to get Elizabeth out to buy dance shoes and dance pants at some store I've never heard of... yeah...ok... THAT's GONNA HAPPEN!!!! School has been in session for 3 weeks, and she waits til last night at 9:30 to tell me she needs these for Monday.

At least it wasn't Sunday Night at 9:30. That could have been very interesting. Last year Lisa came home and said she had to chose an autobiography and bring the book in the next day. I found this out at 8pm on a school night when I went to catch the end of her gym practice. I was sure she must have known sooner. But, another daughter was telling her Mom the exact same thing. She had a "nice" Mom who said she was willing to drive up to Barnes and Noble (in Daytona Beach - 10 miles?? away). She asked if I wanted her to pick up something for Lisa - Like OhioMinnie said "YEA". All I can guess is that (forgive me Teachers) they see their own kids before late in the evening and have the opportunity to run these types of errands.

Add to the confusion, it's picture day for Mike and Maggie, so that meant a shower and blow-dried hair for Maggie. ..

My dad will give Mike heck because he has a company car and a company gas card. So he said "must be nice to not pay for gas" or "must be nice not having that car payment." But...Mike pays for it....it's taken out as an expense. So if he didn't have the car (and therefore gas) he's have more in his kitty (which can be taken out as a bonus whenever)

So he DOES pay for it....just not DIRECTLY.

Impressive. We are just happy when Matt wears a decent shirt for picture day. Of course he never tells us when it is going to be.

Given it's Maggie, it is impressive - most of the time, she wants to wear t-shirts and shorts or sweats to school and I can barely get her to brush her hair...she's my little jock...

Mike, he's almost always in polo's and a nice pair of shorts, denim or twill...

I've been estate/garage saling all morning. Pam, I thought of you. I was at a sale in this lady's breezeway, and it was early enough that we could hear the marching band at the nearby high school, practicing away. Found the motherlode of men's 50s shirts at that sale, most unworn. So I was there for a while!

Well I was in a fairly good mood. Then SHE (my mother) struck...I just got the following sentence in an email from her. I am so hurt and sad right now.I am
