Good Morning All. Thank goodness it is Friday. Early start here today and late night last night. Had the first open house at the Middle School again. It is much more encouragaing when it is your second child going. It was nice to see so many familiar faces, know many of the teachers and administrators. Seems like the sixth graders are going to be doing a lot of interesting things.

Tonight is the first High School football game of the season. Dale had to leave the house at 5:40 a.m. this morning for the early band practice and it sure will be a long day.

Can't wait for tomorrow.

Gotta love Marching Band practice in the Texas heat...I pass by the high school after school and the kids are marching in the parking lot for several hours...They look like they are about ready to melt standing on the hot pavement.

I was looking for the button that said *@&^# YES!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: .

Did the machine REALLY think you would say, "No, thank you, I'll pay full price."

The station I fill up at was $2.66 yesterday, and $2.56 today... of course, I filled up YESTERDAY... granted, its a company car with a company gas card, but still... I don't want the company to pay any more than necessary either!!!! (More $ for fuel means less $ in my Marketing Budget...)

Good morning all! TGIF!!!

We have a busy weekend. Tonight we (really just DH) need to finish painting the dining room. That'll be the 3rd coat of paint. Hope 3rd time is the charm! Furniture is being delivered mid-day. Emily is having a gymnastics party at a local gym tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully on Sun. we can just veg!

Monica, sounds like you bought a lemon! No new car should be in the shop that much.

I've got to try to stay off the boards today. I have to leave work around 1:00 today to take Emily to her well visit this afternoon.

Aww, c'mon, where's your sense of adventure???

Football season officially starts on Saturday... Christopher's weigh-in is at 9:30 for an 11AM game... Elizabeth & Ray's game is at 2... yet sometime in between, I need to get Elizabeth out to buy dance shoes and dance pants at some store I've never heard of... yeah...ok... THAT's GONNA HAPPEN!!!! School has been in session for 3 weeks, and she waits til last night at 9:30 to tell me she needs these for Monday.

Another neighborhood TOP!pirate:

We looked up the lemon laws in Texas - I think this car really does have a personality - it stayed out of the shop just long enough to not qualify...The minute the warrenty is up, it's outta here the first time I have to pay anything other than its scheduled maintenance...As much as it's a fun car to drive, and the good customer service, I'm going back to Toyota...Although, my last loner was a Jetta - now that was a great car to drive....Can't believe I didn't get a ticket -

The hurricane is through Florida and getting ready to hit the panhandle again. The initial reports are trees and power down, but not much structural damage. I'm sure people will be using blue tarps and looking for shingles.

Guess I'm not going to Ft Lauderdale diving this weekend.
Heck, you never know! The storm might have uncovered a yet undiscovered wreck!! :earseek: and you could be the diver that discovers it.

or......

The viz could be so crappy that the dive is cut short!! :rolleyes1

My Friday kareoke contribution:

Beatles - Drive My Car Lyrics
(Lennon/McCartney)

Asked a girl what she wanted to be
She said baby, can't you see
I wanna be famous, a star on the screen
But you can do something in between

Baby you can drive my car
Yes I'm gonna be a star
Baby you can drive my car
And baby I love you

I told a girl that my prospects were good
And she said baby, it's understood
Working for peanuts is all very fine
But I can show you a better time

Baby you can drive my car
Yes I'm gonna be a star
Baby you can drive my car
And baby I love you
Beep beep'm beep beep yeah
Baby you can drive my car
Yes I'm gonna be a star
Baby you can drive my car
And baby I love you

I told a girl I can start right away
And she said listen babe I got something to say
I got no car and it's breaking my heart
But I've found a driver and that's a start

Baby you can drive my car
Yes I'm gonna be a star
Baby you can drive my car
And baby I love you

Beep beep'm beep beep yeah
Beep beep'm beep beep yeah
Beep beep'm beep beep yeah
Beep beep'm beep beep yeah

We had the 5th grade parents meeting at school last night, the first high school football game is tonight, and the 5th graders get to choose their band instruments today. I'm really anxious to see what insturment DS will be getting. He has mentioned drums and trumpet, but DH was hoping sax, since that is what he used to play. I guess we'll take whatever DS decides.:listen: . Happy Friday everyone.

All right. I admit that I'm one of the people that doesn't complain about gas prices. I lived in Germany for 6 years 30 years ago (I can't believe that I just said that) where gas was the equivalent of $3 - $4 gallon then. Sure I remember when gas was $.33/gallon here, but you can't buy a new car for $2000 or a new house for $20,000 anymore, either. Our Ford F250 has been parked in the drive for quite awhile, though. DH has been taking his Goldwing or our DD's Sentra 5-speed to work instead, so it's not like we're celebrating the prices, though. :moped: Unfortunately DD is coming to get the Sentra next weekend and is leaving us her Regal with 150,000 miles. DH will then be driving the Regal. Not as good of gas mileage, but it has heated leather seats for the winter.:cold: DD has never driven a manual transmission, so I get to teach her over the weekend before she takes the car back to Kentucky. :scared1:

Who's cruising this year? I thought that maybe I'd ask (nicely) for one of you to pick up some sort of stocking stuffer(s) for my girls. I send money beforehand. I think I read a post on the main board that there are coloring books. Does anyone know what else there is onboard that would be appropriate for a 3 and 5 year old?

Ang

Hello - yes it is me - yes I am safe - yes House is safe.

DH stayed at home, isn't he sweet - so I could make it to the conference.

I can either - a - prepare for my presentation before 200 of my closest friends or b - review posts.

Ang - We are cruising this year.....Let us know what we can steal, I mean liberate, I mean bring back for you....freebies or other stuff. PM me with ideas, charms, pins, even t-shirts - whatever....

That's probably too soon for me to get a wish list together. If you're in the shops, maybe you could do a little "window" shopping for me and let me know what's available. Then I can get a list together for Irene ... think she's cruisin' in Nov. But if that's too much trouble, I understand.

Ang

As I posted - not a problem - unless we get more wind.

I drove by the Port when I was heading north - the car really wanted to turn east, but I would not let it.

It was rewarding to see all the convoys of power, emergency vehicles and tree trimmers heading south. This state really has it act togther now, not like when Andrew hit.

Prayers for our neighbors in South Florida - esp. the agricultural areas of South Dade and Homestead......

Irene, I'm half way through "Good Neighbors" - it's hysterical...found the "Sound of Music episode, too. :rotfl2: Thanks for the recommendation!

We have passed along the disks to Mother - who by the way braved the storm like a trooper.....Reporting DM is well....she never lost power. We did but only for about one hour. It may not even have been storm related.....

You are more than welcome to your choice of:
A 15 year old cheerleader
A 12 year old soccer player
Or a young (24 & 27) married couple.

Free Shipping if you take the lot.

What no CAT? No dog? I was planning to take the package, but since it did not come with pets, nevermind!!!!!

You can always teach her the way my father taught me - he got into the car with a cup of coffee (a regular coffee cup - not a travel cup) and said "You WILL shift smooth...." :earseek:

Irene, glad to hear that y'all made out ok.

As for the goodies, Amanda has offered. If something happens, I'll let you know. Thanks for the offer.
