No, but I did have to have about 25 of mine replaced today (on the current house) because after Charley, we replaced them with what was available at the time, not the architectural shingles that are required. The buyers have been haunting us to get it done... little do they realize how hard it STILL is to get a licensed roofer in FL, even when you KNOW one!!!!!

It was ironic that the article ran in today's paper regarding the new neighborhood. (Granted, ours was a handful of shingles, not the entire roof...)

Shingles, shingles, Don't talk to me about no --- shingles.

I cannot even get the roofer to come give me an estimate because my roof is not leaking.....I called last year - BEFORE the hurricanes hit, just because I thought it was getting to that point. He said, you do not need a new roof yet, you can wait a year or two - uh huh....try finding someone now....HAH!!!!!

Oh great - just what I need a T :sunny: P with #&%^*## Shingles.....

Kikikaren - this one should have been yours!!!!

Since it is quiet, I thought I'd post an update on trying to get my feet "wet again" in the water.

The mask is now purchased - and I took it to the eye doc. for his approval - it's great having an eye doc. that is as blind as you are. He increased the left eye and gave me a contact to make up the difference for the right eye, so if I lose it, I can still see some.......I have tested the mask in the pool before the new lense was put in...WOW...Can't wait for my snorkeling dive next weekend. Must change my habits and get up early to hit the water before it gets too rough.

The ocean water refresher course is scheduled for the 11th - will I feel like a dummy with all the new equipment.... :rotfl: The instructer was cool and said we did not have to do a pool and an ocean refresher...and it will just be the 2 of us. His price went up a bit between calls, but I expected that with gas the way it is.....Better to get checked out now and be safe, right! I want to see DH with the new mask and moustache....

Hum, slow night so I guess I will wander home...to my dial up connection. DH still out of town...

Any other hints or tips would be greatly appreciated.....

Sounds like you are getting there. Let me know when you are ready to do a shore or boat dive. Matt will be glad to drive me down for a mini meet in Ft. Lauderdale (Kevin, eat your heart out!).

Kevin, in Grand Cayman I have the option of diving the North wall or the West wall. What would you recommend?

Have you been in the water with this new mask? Different masks fit people differently and I would hate for you to spend the money on a prescription lenses and have the mask not fit you right underwater!! Don't forget to clean the mask with basic white toothpaste a couple of times prior to using it in the water.

Hints: Read the classroom stuff and be prepared to answer and go over all the info. In the water; take your time and ask questions if you have any.

You'll be fine!!

We didn't have a leak either... just some shingles that came loose and went to visit the neighbors' yards after Charley (or was it Frances or Jeanne??:confused3 ). We fixed them ourselves, and didn't think anything of them til the *observant* (there... that was a nice word) buyers wanted them replaced by a licensed roofer. Thankfully, our neighbor (and lawn guy) also is a licensed roofing contractor... if not, we'd be waiting for months. The buyers have driven by at least 100 times (no lie... they are starting to scare Elizabeth when she's home alone after school) since the inspection last week to see if the repairs were done yet... despite the afternoon thunderstorms everyday last week... they couldn't understand why we were 'dragging our feet'... (hello... these are the same people who we had to BEAT a closing date out of)... sorry... I said I wouldn't vent here... but I feel better now!

I'm thinking about coming down in the first part of December for a long weekend of diving. Maybe WPB or Ft. Lauderdale, what do you think?

Cool. Why don't we just meet in CA and do a liveaboard instead?

Ray and I have a HUGE Christmas buffet/dinner party the first half of December every year... any of you who are in the area are welcomed to join us!!!!!!

Ray cooks nonstop for a few days beforehand, and its always a lot of fun. We topped out at 86 people a few years ago... and that was when we lived where it was too cold for an indoor/outdoor gig...

:wave2:

Hello to all!

Just wanted to pop in and say "hi". Seems like since school started, I don't have much free time!

Whew......I'm tired......think I'll get in bed early tonight.

COOL would definitely be the word for the waters in the Channel Island area in December!!

Doesn't 75° sound better?? Of course I'm saying this to a self-confessed WWW ...... :rotfl:

OK, for all those who are interested. I've gotten the pictures of the last dive trip up on the website. Mostly underwater, with a few top side pictures thrown in.

The Speigel Grove pictures are towards the end.

Happy Wednesday and first day of school here! Thought I'd grab the first post of the morning for a change. I knew when my dr. prescribed a decongestant for me that I'd be up most of the night. Any medicine with a 'D' behind it does that to me, and I need to take it for at least a couple of more days! All this talk of diving really has me feeling claustrophobic :scared: . I'm OK in the water, it's the face mask that I couldn't stand. I can't even snorkel because of it.

Kevin...those are AWESOME pictures. Thanks for sharing them with us. Really, really beautiful fish. The eels are what get me. Have you know ever known anyone who has been biten by one of those things? They are pre-historic looking, if you as me. I'm with Sandi, I don't think I could handle that, no matter what the reason. I'd be soooo afraid something was going to bite me. Have you ever come across a shark??? Dare I ask the question? Thanks again for sharing. The ship looks very mysterious. What kind of ship was it to start off with? Fishing boat, frieghtor?

Good morning everyone. I'm up early today because the tapers are coming. The sheetrock is, for the most part, all done. They ran out of rock and only have about 1 hour left of that. Today starts the "taping". Very exciting. I will take some pictures, but I don't know if it will be able to help you out as to what it looks like. The sun is coming out today(no sun yesterday) so the pictures may be better. I will let you know for sure. That's what's happening in my little corner of the world.

Everyone have a great day. It's happy "hump" day. Wednesday, people, Wednesday.

Chow for now....

Maria

:flower1: Good morning cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Wednesday!

Thanks for the pictures Kevin. I love to snorkel, but just don't think I could do scuba. Being able to pop up anytime I want is important. :)
