:ssst: OK... I might as well come clean now, as there's one in every crowd... I am the anti-HP... don't read the books, see the movies, get 'hype-notized' by the hype, and neither do my kids... we're an HP-less household.

So I guess it should be a pretty quiet weekend, as the REST of the free world will have their noses in the new HP book... me, I'll be cleaning my house some more. (Ugh..)

Yeah... a TOP pirate: shared with Mary, HP, and my almost-clean house.

I resisted HP for awhile and then since Mike persisted, I read them before allowing him to read them...Same with the movies - we see them first, then make the decision on a story by story basis...

Conversely, we're a Pokemon free household - and that's become a problem for Mike- with peer pressure and ridicule - we told Mike this week, if he could write a persuasive letter outlining why he wants to watch/play Pokemon, we'd take it into consideration- he learned how to write persuasive letters last year in school, so he's taking his task very seriously...

With new people joining us I'm thinking of doing an update to the web site this weekend (if i can tear myself away from Harry Potter).

I'll put up a copy of the DIS meet sign and the location of the meet.

I'll put up Maria's name as being in charge of T-shirts.

We already have the Scoopie information up there.

I'll add Diana and Sue's info for linking of dining reservations.

Kevin are you going to do a Scuba site like you did for the 10 day? If so let me know and I'll add that in as well.

That way we have a one-stop shop for all the vital info and it won't get lost in the fluff of the thread - especially for new people.

What do you all think?

I'll be third on the list which is okay. I just can't stand the pressure of "are you done yet"?

So who isn't the Harry Potter reader - Matt or Lisa?

Time for Friday kareoke - selfishly, here's mine...We opened Sound of Music last night to the largest crowd the theatre group has ever had on an opening night...Still can't figure out how nuns could stand wearing the full habit...

Another op'nin, another show
In Philly, Boston, or Baltimo'
A chance for stage folks to say hello!
Another op'nin of another show.

Another job that you hope will last
Will make your future forget your past
Antoher pain where the ulcers grow
Another op'nin of another show.

Four weeks, you rehearse and rehearse
Three weeks, and it couldn't be worse
One week, will it ever be right?
Then out of the hat it's that big first night

The overture is about to start
You cross your fingers and hold your heart
It's curtain time and away we go -
Another op'nin
Just another op'nin of another show!

They're probably set for Saturday delivery, which to UPS, means Saturday delivery, no sooner.

We are Pokemon-free too... although Christopher came home a few weeks ago with a stack of ratty old beat up Pokemon cards that someone traded him his snack for at the Y. I don't think he's touched them since he brought them home. (If it doesn't have wheels and/or an engine on it, he loses interest in a matter of minutes.)

OK I am *not* reading the previous 11000+ posts. Jeez and we still have 10 months!

We went on the May repo cruise, what fun! And we rebooked for this cruise. We're in 2076...a far cry from 8048 :(. Oh well, can't live rich all the time.

So does anybody have their docs yet? ;)

Can we join you We are not a HP family either. DS has been to movies but is still not interested at all. I guess I will start my " How to lay tile" book :bored: I have 2 pallets of tile just calling my name.

Welcome, welcome, welcome.

As for Friday Kareoke, I'm listening to Queen's Greatest Hits. Here is the song that they sang about me:
FAT BOTTOMED GIRLS
Words and music by brian may

Are you gonna take me home tonight
Ah down beside that red firelight
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls
You make the rockin’ world go round

Hey I was just a skinny lad
Never knew no good from bad
But I knew life before I left my nursery
Left alone with big fat fanny
She was such a naughty nanny
Heap big woman you made a bad boy out of me
Hey hey!

I’ve been singing with my band
Across the wire across the land
I seen ev’ry blue eyed floozy on the way
But their beauty and their style
Went kind of smooth after a while
Take me to them dirty ladies every time

Oh won’t you take me home tonight?
Oh down beside your red firelight
Oh and you give it all you got
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin’ world go round
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin’ world go round

Hey listen here
Now your mortgages and homes
I got stiffness in the bones
Ain’t no beauty queens in this locality (I tell you)
Oh but I still get my pleasure
Still got my greatest treasure
Heap big woman you gonna make a big man out of me
Now get this

Oh you gonna take me home tonight (please)
Oh down beside your red firelight
Oh you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin’ world go round
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin’ world go round
Get on your bikes and ride

Oooh yeah them fat bottomed girls
Fat bottomed girls
Yeah yeah yeah
Fat bottomed girls
Yes yes

A TOP shared with all the fat bottomed girls like me!

From one non-HP Karen to another....we also are non HP at our house. Haven't read one of the books. I remember watching one movie, maybe two...can't remember. We thought of getting them from Netflix so the kids can watch them, but I won't be waiting in line tonight at midnight for the book. I also will not have my nose in the book all weekend. I also need to clean my house, but even without HP I'm SURE I can find an excuse not to do that!!

Based on the last release it will be delivered tomorrow. When it came last time the box said DO NOT DELIVER BEFORE XXXXXX (that being whatever the last release date was).
The library doesn't even have their copies delivered, yet. Maybe today...

We are also non Pokemon here. Not for any other reason than my kids were little when it was first hyped and they weren't interested. Now they look at a lot of that stuff and determine that it all comes out so that someone can make $$$. Pokemon sheets, lunchboxes, notebooks, underwear....someone is cleaning up on this phase. Same with the Ninja turtles when they were big.

You might want to read the 11,000+ posts. There will be a quiz!

Welcome, rcostello1!!! Glad to have you "aboard!"

I have my doc...

but he's at work right now.

Should see him this afternoon.

We're taking the kids to dinner and then Udders and Putters (I'll let ya'll think about that one for awhile!)

I'm hanging out at the library...no, not to get the new HP book. Kids are in acting and it's a 1/2 day b/c they have their performance at noon. So no use in me driving 30 minutes home just to spend a couple hours there and then come back. I'm excited for this performance. They are doing Seussical! :) Should be fun.

Librarians here all seem pretty calm even with the impending HP release. They are all wearing riot gear though...that's the only difference. ;)

No Pokemon, no Yu gi Ho (or whatever). We're big into Legos.

When you have a kitten that is only 2 pounds and he likes to sleep at your feet...don't be surprised in the middle of the night if you roll over, hear a "thump" and then a "meow." If you look down at the floor you'll see a kitty stretching and licking himself.

It's happened twice now. Poor little thing!

And poor Nick's allergies are flaring up....hmmm, wonder why. Today it was Zyrtec and Patanol eye drops. Considering Singulair. KT has already said that if we have to get rid of Mowana b/c of Nick's allergies she will NEVER let him live it down.

And I believe her!
