It's not that I'm trying to 'sensor' him... he's the kind of kid who you think is tough, but came out of the "Stitch Alien Encounter" so afraid that he was crying. With the movie being PG-13, I just think the action (scary) scenes might get to him.

Mine saw Star Wars last week. We had watched 4, 5, 6, 1 and 2 all in about a week-week and a halves time and so they knew the whole story---it was fresh in their minds. We knew that there were some kids who were killed in III so we reminded them that what they saw on the screen was all acting, that no one was actually HURT ("No children were actually harmed in the making of that film.") Lots of light saber battles and other warfare, but for the most part it all appeared so computerized and not much blood. I think the kids have seen so many "makings of XYZ movie" bonus features that the special effects are transparent to them.....they KNOW it's not real.

Violence doesn't bother me. Chances are, they aren't going to experience a light saber battle in real life. People meeting, making out and having sex in a movie within a very short time period would more realistically happen in real life. IMHO.

truth is no one has a manual on raising kids

This made me laugh b/c it's almost exactly the line from Seussical the Musical....

Oh, where are the instructions
On how to raise a child?
Who has the instructions
On how to raise a child?
Who has all the answers?
I don't know.

I'm going to bed too folks. I am beat.....I am off going to try and read Princess Diaries for a bit...

Don't read it. It's a movie! Save time!

Actually, KT is listening to this on her iPod.....it's read by Anne Hathaway. :)

Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood (I think I'm the only woman alive who's never read it.)

Oh yeah! I read this one last year while the kids were in acting classes. Would drop them off then read for hours before I had to pick them up again! Movie wasn't NEARLY as good.

:ssst::crowded: It's crowded in Maggie's bed with all of her stuffed animals!

Scoopie, kick them out. You're top cone when you're at Maggie's house!! All of those other animals will have Maggie when you're off on vacation....you have precious little time with her!!

Which makes me wonder.....if it went over my head as a kid, will it do the same to my kids? I mean after all, I watched Three's Company, Love Boat, Fantasy Island...and I turned out normal, right?

I can handle the innuendos because they'd probably (hopefully) miss the vast majority, it's the language I tend to have a problem with...But, then again - there has already been a widespread discussion and some practice of french kissing in 2nd grade - and a memo home about inappropriate touching and sexual harrassment occuring in 4th grade, so maybe they aren't as naive as I was.

.Grease was my first PG movie ..I thought it was a big deal that I got to go see it for my friend's birthday - previously my parents would only allow G movies... - my first R was Breathless - I told my parents I was seeing the Outsiders...Richard Gere is still so good looking - watched Shall we dance last night....oh my a suit and a tux all in one movie -

There is a whole series of books!!!- I thought about checking it out for curiosity sake...I tend to like the books better than the movies and I loved Princess Diaries movies- will have to wait until schools back in session - might be too embarrasing browsing through books in the Young Adult Room ...Now, Bridget Jones, I liked better as a movie...

Hi all - checking in from the Boardwalk. We should be asleep as Mark has to get up for work early, but we got a message on the phone saying there were going to be doing major fireworks testing at Epcot between 11 pm and 12 am so we are up.

I was laughing so hard on Karen's replies to Scoopie that i have tears in my eyes.

Jim there was one point in the evening when it was raining and I said to Mark - Jim must be on his way home from Tampa!

We had a great day. Animal Kingdom in the morning, then back to the room for a short rest. A brief stop in MGM and then over to SSR for the Member Update. It was a lot of fun and I even won a DVC umbrellla (so Karen I guess I should stop moaning that I don't ever win anything) :)
Ended the night over at Magic Kingdom and stayed for Wishes. Now we are back waiting for these extra fireworks.

Welcome to the new cruisers. I think Mark and I met the First Timers on the first day of the 10 day. Glad to have you with us. Link to our web page is below. Photos and details can be e-mailed to me at marygums@monorailgreen.net. Please if you can wait until Saturday to send them - we'll be home then and it will be easier to do the work from my home computer than the laptop.

Mark goes to the tradeshow tomorrow and I'm set to meet up with Grandma Lightbulb for a pre-cruise meet.

Have a great evening everyone!

edit to add - this is Mary - not Mark - opps (now I see how Scoopie did it)

Hi Diana,

Thanks for the email! GReat info. When you say "45 days out", do you mean 45 days from the ressie, or 45 days after making the ressie?

Cool! Congrats!!! I knew you're time would come! Sounds like you'll get good use out of the umbrella being in the same state as Mr. Scuba. At least I'm not the ONLY "Eeyore" who has a black rain cloud over me!!!

It's interesting how that whole "who's in town, cause it's raining" thing has turned around on Jim, isn't? :confused3 Weird thing is, I think he started it :rotfl2:

Well there is about 5 minutes to go and we haven't seen or heard anything so maybe they aren't testing at all. Which really bites because we could have been in bed and asleep by now. Oh well!

Asking for prayers tonight and in the next day or two. There is a fire burning called the Cave Creek Complex fire. This is the closest fire that we have ever seen to our house. The flames are on the ridge of the nearest mountain.....we have several friends who are in the evacuation center (my kids' middle school) now, and have probably lost their homes. We are supposed to leave town tomorrow.....we may, we may not. Jay is at a Town Meeting right now, I've been packing pictures, videos and jewelry....

Please, pray for our friends here. I'll keep you posted.

Stacey - how awful! You and your friends are definatley in our prayers.

BTW the fireworks that were supposed to happen between 11 pm and 12 am - happened at 1 am as we were asleep. They were awesome!

:flower1: Good morning cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Thursday!

Since I'm up and it is 1:15 AM here - might as well post the good morning!
