Doesn't look like it... its going to start raining here any minute.

Never mind... the sun finally broke through...

Hey Jim... if you're in the area tonight, drive by the fields behind the middle school just long enough to get football practice cancelled, will ya?

The humidity has been unbearable though. How do you guys do it in Florida? I lived there for 1 1/2 years and needed to come back to Spring/Fall weather. Running from A/C to A/C is not my idea of fun. And after a while the pool gets to be way toooo hot to go into.
Maria
Being from New Mexico, which is not noted for it's humidity levels, I've not been particular bothered by the humidity levels in Florida. Frankly, Houston, New Orleans and other places I have been seemed to have more than the Florida area. Plus, I like the way my skin and nose feels in Florida better :earseek:

Of course, with Jim's jeep running all over the state, raining on everything it might be worse........ :rotfl2:

We're heading out this afternoon to spend the weekend in Louisiana. Does anyone else get stressed when visiting family? Our problem is that both families live the same area but are at least 2 hours apart. After driving for 7+ hours, we don't feel like running the roads once we're there.
Ang

I can so relate. That was the problem we had each time we went to Michigan. My family lives in one Detroit suburb, Jim's in another and we have friends who live in primarily two other locations (each about 1 to 1 1/2 hours away from Detroit). We used to go up for Christmas and make the rounds. It was very stressful. I now take the kids up for a week each summer to "Family Camp" (a church camp from the denomination I grew up in). My siblings and their familes come for the week and any friends that want to come visit us are more than welcome to come to camp to see us - I'm not driving.
We traded Christmas's in Michigan for Christmas on the Magic the last 3 years. This year is going to be very hard without a Christmas Cruise planned. We still haven't decided what we are going to do over the holidays yet.

Has Jim left for Costa Rica yet? If so I hope he's having a great trip. If not - well I hope he has a great trip. Enjoy your time with Matt!

He leaves tomorrow evening. If the rains stop tomorrow evening, then we will know he was responsible. The prediction is for rain all weekend, so I don't think his leaving is going to help our "saturated" state.

Nothing will at this point... except maybe a big SPONGE!! The creek is almost as high as it was after the hurricanes... and was looking pretty brown this morning.

Yippee...:guilty: ... rain all weekend... at least my only plans were to clean the house- and thats a lot more likely to happen on a rainy weekend than a sunny one!

Please have Jim drive his Jeep to Arizona!
The wind has shifted back to the south and the smoke from the fire is awful today. Yes, the fire is still burning. Not sure, but the last count I saw was over 125,000 acres.

Sharon....you guys can come with us on our "Mystery" Christmas cruise!

I refuse to go back to Nebraska for Christmas. I left there to get away from the snow. Unless one of my parents is ill, or someone is getting married, I won't go in the winter. They are more than welcome to come spend their Christmas here. Of course, they rarely did...so we started cruising!

Stacey- sorry to hear that the fires are flaring up again... our prayers are with you! I wish we could send you some of our excess water... seems like July in Florida means one of two things... fires or floods... there's no in-between.

I've got my whole family coming for Christmas- I can't wait, though I am sure that my brother will once again disappoint me and not show up, like he did with my grad school graduation (do I sound bitter... good) and so many other family functions. His wife refuses to fly... so I can just about guarantee that he won't be here.

So sorry about the on going fires!! What we need is to get all the "Wet Blankets" in Washington DC and send them over there!!

of course, that might backfire with all the hot air too that accompanies them.:earseek:

Stacey, hope there isn't enough wind to blow the fires back your way. Keep those windows closed! Do you have central air, or swamp coolers? Kevin pointed out to me yesterday that the swamp cooler will let the air in along with the smoke.

Alicia and I are getting out of the house today. Lunch and a movie with SIL and niece. We have seen just about all the movies they want to see, so will either have a rerun or talk them into something like Cinderella Man or Batman Begins. Not exactly your light summer movies.

I'll be back tonight, got more posting to do!

Stacey & Karen (kiki) thanks for the support over on the main cruise board on the meets thread. Hopefully Disney Fans will give us another shot and will join the fun.

I refuse to answer on the grounds that it might incriminate me!!! Especially now, that I have a husband who lurks... ;)

Stacey, prayers are going out to you & everyone in your area. Hope you get some rains soon!

We had a nice lunch - Mexican. It was a going away lunch for someone here. We got to drink margaritas & the boss picked up the tab! That's the way to go!

Not yet. I leave tomorrow afternoon.

Hopefully I will survive. We have planned zip line tour, tour of cave, kayaking in white water, repelling down waterfalls, hiking around the volcano, and ending by soaking in the hot springs.

I figured that since Matt has not had any vacation time (he went from school end right into Spanish school) that I would give him a trip he will remember. I know I will from the sore muscles.

See that's what got me confused. We had rain up here too so I thought maybe he drove up in the jeep to fly out of O'Hare to Costa Rica. :)

I am leaving town so if it rains during the races, don't blame me!

Believe me... its going to rain for the races. In fact, the gates opened at 2 for today's race... and what's it doing right now... RAINING!!!!!

Ray is in for a long, miserable weekend, that's for sure!

Have a great trip!! Sounds like fun!

got a bunch of scrapbook stuff for the kids at camp. this will be fun. :)
picked up nick's friend. brought him home and they were hoping to swim, but it's pouring rain here. can't say we don't need it, but i've got a headache from the grey already :(

jim, time to go home!

Angie, at least your family is far away (I hope that doesn't sound as bad as it looks when I typed it). DH got a call yesterday evening saying that his mom (77) fell and broke her hip. FIL is 86 and can't take care of himself. Not that he is an invalid, but she has waited on him hand and foot for the last 50-some years. DH took him home and had to fix his supper last night. SIL picked him up to bring him to the hospital. One of the first things he asks MIL is 'How do you make coffee?' At first I thought he was joking, but he was serious. He drinks 3-5 cups of coffee a day and has no clue. DH is the closest sibling, but thankfully others are coming in to town for the weekend and next week. I would refuse to cater to him!

oh...uh...
well, i guess i'd better start saying to mike "i can't wait on you hand and foot in case i break my hip in my 70's. you won't know how to get along while i'm recovering." ;)
