Sorry- can't help you there...
Ooh... so we have some TALENT in our ranks!!!!!
Sorry ... the more 'efficient' of us need to LOOK busy in order to fill our day... (remember- I'm a former Northerner who still works at a Northern pace in a slower-than-mollasses state!!!!!)

Pricier than the link that I sent you earlier... nice place, though... too far from the ocean for my liking...

This reminded me of a discussion I had with my grandfather when I was a kid... I thought that traffic cops had whistles so that the blind drivers knew when to stop...
I thought the exact same thing... I'm only 3 for 10 on that list... (but at least the all important Margaritas are one of them!!!!) Hmm... where to eat next???
No... I think FL would go broke trying to do that, just due to exploding population numbers... we can pre-pay now at today's prices for later, but no overall funding for good grades. Would be nice though...

Looking forward (not) to another afternoon of rain... but, Florida in the summer still beats New Hampshire in the winter, so I can't complain (much.) The pool is going to need to be drained again if we get any more. Hey Scuba... what time are you passing back by here on I-4... I'll be able to tell by the weather outside my window. Stay away from Mary for her sake!

Just had to use that smiley... 'cause Kevin said I could!!!!

Woa - my brain hurts - too many topic switches before I have my coffee... ;) Think I need to propose a rule - no multiple posting of non-fluff topics before 10:00 eastern time...(I'm allowing for any west coast people to have their coffee too) :teeth:

Better not like Mike read this...he'd make some comment about how insensitive that was to bring up a "blind book" to a person with glaucoma! HA!

Here's Nick for you....shortly after Mike was having sky high eye pressures and his surgery, Nick and Mike went somewhere and Nick asked (as serious as can be) "dad, when you go blind can we get a handicapped sticker for the car?"

Not IF he goes blind...WHEN he goes blind!

ooohhhhh - I cannot imagine not being able to read! I hope some of the new technology I occasionally hear about might help him. :wizard:

I do the same. Often times people walk by my office and ask why I am sobbing... :rotfl2:

What was really funny, the RC ship has the single <blap>. Te Magic played the "Wish Upon A Star". As a final HAA, she blew a HUGE <BLAP> right back to them. I had never heard that.
Cool - :cool1:

glad you're back. :flower:

Amanda - Hoop de Doo would be my pick over Spirit (I liked to old show much better).

Liberty Tree Tavern is good character dining.

Looking for the reply as to whether you want fun for kids or good food.

My top 5 are actuall very close. Not including Victoria and Albert's :

Artiste Point
Boma
LeCellieur
California Grill
O'Hana
Rose and Crown
Morroco

Ok - can't type, can't spell, can't count! :cool1:

Haven't tried most of the top 10 - love California Grill - I usually try to reserve a spot at the sushi bar - the chefs often will give samples or the ends of the rolls...Sitting at the dessert counter is fun too - but, no samples :sad2:

I was disappointed in the French restaurant(s) when I visited last year - the quality wasn't there as it had been on previous visits...

Tried Liberty Tree Tavern for the first time - went at lunch as part of the Keys to the Kingdom Tour - the chicken Ceasar was wonderful. I can't wait to try more items (who knows when, have to pay off school first...)

OK, talked about it over dinner. Here are the places we would go to over and over (and have), some if budget allowed:

Number 1: Victoria & Albert's (this is the budget one)
Number 2: California Grille (to heck with the budget, we go to this one anyway)
Number 3: Chefs de France (consistently wonderful)
Number 4: Bahama Breeze (not at WDW, but a must-do)
Number 4: Brown Derby (based on our last really excellent meal there)
Number 5: Kona Cafe (also consistently delicious)
Number 6: Prime Time Cafe (still hoping to get a really FUN cousin)
Number 7: Boma (Zebra Domes, need I say more)
Number 8: Beaches and Cream (ice cream)
Number 9: Earl of Sandwich (yummy good and cheap)
Number 10: Fiesta Margaritas in Mexico (oops, that isn't a restaurant)

We have also liked, and will return if the occasion demands: Cape May, Palio at the Swan, Spoodles, Rose & Crown, Tusker House, Flame Tree Barbecue, Hollywood & Vine, Matsunomu Lounge, Tepenyaki, Flying Fish, Pepper Market, Artist's Palette at Saratoga Springs.

Alicia and I are going to try Kimono's in the Swan for sushi in July. First time, we're excited! We might even stay for the karaoke. None of you will be there, right?

No comment on any other restaurants, though we have tried almost all of them. YMMV

#1 - Yes, our's too - but took it off the list for the post.
#2 - We're close but what happened to Artiste Point???? Move it up.
#3 - not close at all - not even on my list.....Guess they say tastes are different.
#4 - BB - never tried -where is it?
#5 Brown Derby - so-so....
#6 - Kona - yup - yummy desserts esp. Think I would go for O'hana first. (Oh, and the Tiki bar for the drink in the pineapple and then to the beach for fireworks!!!)
#7 - Boma - but for the sauces, not the domes!

#8 - never tried, will put in on the must do list now!!!!
#9 - ditto!
#10 - you go - fine to stay in to top.

FYI - we love the Sushi Bar in Japan and were very disappointed at the SWAN. We made a special trip for that this past May - prices were very high - and sushi not as good (at least we thought) as the Japanese Lounge - I will await your report - perhaps we will need to try again.

Later - love talking about food and wine - Cannot wait until Party of the Senses - need another countdown timer.

Even Christopher, the world's pickiest eater, loved Liberty Tree Tavern. (Granted, he took the ham and made little ham sandwiches with the dinner rolls... but he about 10 of them) We ate so much food that night, after trudging through MK in the deluge of rain all day, we were starving! I don't think I've ever seen my kids eat as much as they did that night!

It's not 'gourmet'... but its home-cooked 'comfort food' (that we didn't have to home-cook) that really hit the spot on a rainy day. (Then, with our full stomachs, we wandered over to Space Mountain and got right on!!)

We ate there this last trip. The service was excellent, but I choose the Monkfish which was bboooooorrrriinnngg!! Alicia had the fillet, and the one bite I got was VERY good!

The have an all African wine selection. Not being familiar with African vintages, made the selection tough. We did alright though!!

We have tried both Jinko and Boma - and I prefer Boma - Service in Jinko has always been impeccable. Service in Boma has varied from Great to so-so....but it is a buffet. I like the selections more in Boma as I am not big on meat.

Did you know that you can order any of the Jinko wines in Boma? We enjoy their selection. I think I would take Artiste Point over Jinko for the same quality of service and price and I love the NW wines.....The wine pairing they offer in Artiste Point is superb...The server will match your selections with wines of their choice (you can decline after a sip of course....) We have tried some exellant vintages, when there is only one glass left etc....

Yummy - hungry now!!!!! :)

I think that Florida does have that. Hey all you Floridians, chime in here!

This was one of the reasons we wanted to move down there before Alicia graduates. BUT, she is just starting High School, and the social interaction process is very hard to break up at this point. Who knows what will happen, but it would be nice after moving not to have to pay twice the college amount than we should be paying.

It's called Bright Futures. Here is a link: http://www.firn.edu/doe/brfuture/

Talking about wine and diving is more fun and costs a lot less.

Hey Scubas! Does your V&A menu say what the port pairing was with the cheesecake course? Kevin doesn't know where he put our menus, and I want some of that! I think Jim had it too.

We have menu's also - remind me Monday and I will check - might be a different pairing though. When did you go? They might be able to send you another menu if it is computerized?????

Kevin,

I'll ask my sister for more info ... or maybe the new folks will chime in. My BIL got relocated from New Orleans to Orlando so they chose Lake Mary. They live in a gated, golf course community. My sister is a stay at home mom and kids go to Catholic school. But guess schools aren't a concern since you'll wait until your daughter gets out of school.

For all of you Floridians, does FL have college funding like we have here in GA (Hope). If your child finishes high school in GA and gets a certain grade point average, then they qualify for Hope & get college paid for. Hope (no pun intended) it's still around when my kids are ready to graduate!

Angie

Hi, Angie,

Since DS and I will be on the Double Scoop next May, I drop in every now and then to lurk. We live in central Florida between Lake Mary and Sanford and may be able to help out with your state college funding question. DS will have just graduated from high school two days before we sail, so college scholarships are an issue close to my heart right now!

Florida's version is called the Bright Futures Scholarship and is similar to the Hope in Georgia. Here is the website:

http://www.firn.edu/doe/bin00072/home0072.htm

"Hope" this helps!

Susie

Welcome! It's time to quit lurking and come out and play with the rest of us!

That's not 100% though, or am I mistaken?

Tuition only which is not the major expense. The major expense is R&B. As I understand it, it can be 100% of tuition and all depends on the funding for the year and the student's GPA.

I don't pay much attention to it because my children all want to go out of state or to a private school. I'm voting for something out of state so I can get some more trips!

To take a breath.

No, actually, it gets to confusing for me to do all the quoting and that...hard for me to keep up.

Easier for me to just hit "quote-open in a new window" and reply to *that* post. :)

How about Ohio?

We speak of moving to FL but KT wants to go to OSU (we raised her right) and it would be tough to give up the Ohio-resident discount. :)

Don't know what DH will do if we're still living in GA and girls wind up going to UGA. He went to LSU so we're all big "GEAUX TIGERS" fans. The girls even have their cheerleading outfits (Ok, we all have our fan gear). At least UGA is the SEC East whereas LSU is in the SEC West.
