If that was a rant, then RANT on!!

On the 10-day Christmas cruise there were some guesses as to post count. I think we far exceeded the estimates. What was it gang? over 26,000??

Kevin - the thread has over 26,000 posts now. Matt had the honor post #24,000 the morning we cruised. The benefits of living close to the port!

Very cool - an early morning top with Kevin & Matt and everyone on the 10 day who helped us get to 24,000 posts by cruise time!

:flower1: Good morning cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Friday!

Another very early good morning! This is our last full day but we've had a great time. Mark goes back to the trade show today and I think I'm going to head back to the Magic Kingdom.

I was very disappointed on my solo trip to Epcot yesterday. I had great plans to do the single rider line at Soarin' but when I got there it was chained off and the cast member said they weren't using it any more. Then went over to do the single rider line at Mission Space and the wait was longer for the singles than the regular line.

So I think today I'll just do MK and walk around, poke in the shops, etc.

I saw that from the map. So, what kind of community is it?

I have not spent a great deal of time in Lake Mary, but it's a bedroom community. Many offices are now starting to relocate to Lake Mary and Heathrow along I-4.

If I was going to live in the Orlando area I would consider Lake Mary and the surrounding area because it is not in Orlando proper, but easy to get to.

Here's Nick for you....shortly after Mike was having sky high eye pressures and his surgery, Nick and Mike went somewhere and Nick asked (as serious as can be) "dad, when you go blind can we get a handicapped sticker for the car?"

Not IF he goes blind...WHEN he goes blind!

I just love that kid!

OK, talked about it over dinner. Here are the places we would go to over and over (and have), some if budget allowed:

Number 1: Victoria & Albert's (this is the budget one)
Number 2: California Grille (to heck with the budget, we go to this one anyway)
Number 3: Chefs de France (consistently wonderful)
Number 4: Bahama Breeze (not at WDW, but a must-do)
Number 4: Brown Derby (based on our last really excellent meal there)
Number 5: Kona Cafe (also consistently delicious)
Number 6: Prime Time Cafe (still hoping to get a really FUN cousin)
Number 7: Boma (Zebra Domes, need I say more)
Number 8: Beaches and Cream (ice cream)
Number 9: Earl of Sandwich (yummy good and cheap)
Number 10: Fiesta Margaritas in Mexico (oops, that isn't a restaurant)

We have also liked, and will return if the occasion demands: Cape May, Palio at the Swan, Spoodles, Rose & Crown, Tusker House, Flame Tree Barbecue, Hollywood & Vine, Matsunomu Lounge, Tepenyaki, Flying Fish, Pepper Market, Artist's Palette at Saratoga Springs.

Alicia and I are going to try Kimono's in the Swan for sushi in July. First time, we're excited! We might even stay for the karaoke. None of you will be there, right?

No comment on any other restaurants, though we have tried almost all of them. YMMV

Reading this made me realize there are a lot of restaurants we have not tried.

Honey, we got to go eating! :cool1:

Sunday we have to be near Universal so we are going to Marguritaville.

Hey Scubas! Does your V&A menu say what the port pairing was with the cheesecake course? Kevin doesn't know where he put our menus, and I want some of that! I think Jim had it too.

Glad I could help out here. Enjoy!

2002 Banyuls Rimage Les Clos de Paulilles (500ml)
Price: $17.99

The Paulilles vineyard surrounds the bay of Paulilles in the heart of the appellation of Collioure and Banyuls. Les Clos de Paulilles is owned and managed by the Daure family, one of the most influential winemaking families in the Rousillon. Rimage is a Catalan word which means vintage. Therefore a rimage Banyuls is a fortified wine in which all grapes come from a certain vintage, much like a Colheita or vintage Port. Made of 100% black grenache, this Banyuls exhibits a dark black-purple robe, with intense blackberry jam and succulent rich flavors. This is France's answer to Port, and the absolute best wine to pair with chocolate!

Mary, I have some bad news. I going to be in the Orlando area today. Make sure you take your umbrella!

Good morning all! Late start for me today but I HAD to stop in and wish everyone good morning!

That's not a bad price for a bottle of wine! ;)

Thanks for the warning! :) The weather forecast does say 70% chance of rain so I had a feeling you would be near by.

No it's not. It's a smaller dessert bottle of wine, but you only need a little bit. :sunny:

Oh, DARN. You disappointed me! I was waiting for you to come back and chide me for being so naive.... I thought, for sure, that you'd tell me that was the price for one GLASS of wine!

Kevin,

I'll ask my sister for more info ... or maybe the new folks will chime in. My BIL got relocated from New Orleans to Orlando so they chose Lake Mary. They live in a gated, golf course community. My sister is a stay at home mom and kids go to Catholic school. But guess schools aren't a concern since you'll wait until your daughter gets out of school.

For all of you Floridians, does FL have college funding like we have here in GA (Hope). If your child finishes high school in GA and gets a certain grade point average, then they qualify for Hope & get college paid for. Hope (no pun intended) it's still around when my kids are ready to graduate!

I think that Florida does have that. Hey all you Floridians, chime in here!

This was one of the reasons we wanted to move down there before Alicia graduates. BUT, she is just starting High School, and the social interaction process is very hard to break up at this point. Who knows what will happen, but it would be nice after moving not to have to pay twice the college amount than we should be paying.

Now THAT is a First!!

A TOP shared with all Floridians!! :thewave:

I doubt that will happen. Something about making money to pay for cruises and having something important to say! ;)
Sorry ... the more 'efficient' of us need to LOOK busy in order to fill our day... (remember- I'm a former Northerner who still works at a Northern pace in a slower-than-mollasses state!!!!!)

Pricier than the link that I sent you earlier... nice place, though... too far from the ocean for my liking...

This reminded me of a discussion I had with my grandfather when I was a kid... I thought that traffic cops had whistles so that the blind drivers knew when to stop...

I thought the exact same thing... I'm only 3 for 10 on that list... (but at least the all important Margaritas are one of them!!!!) Hmm... where to eat next???

Looking forward (not) to another afternoon of rain... but, Florida in the summer still beats New Hampshire in the winter, so I can't complain (much.) The pool is going to need to be drained again if we get any more. Hey Scuba... what time are you passing back by here on I-4... I'll be able to tell by the weather outside my window. Stay away from Mary for her sake!

Just had to use that smiley... 'cause Kevin said I could!!!!

Amanda, Hoop de Doo is a dinner show, very funny. Taylor is the perfect age for it. I don't know that it would be included in the free dining, though, since the normal price is $50 or $60 for adults.

Amanda - Hoop de Doo would be my pick over Spirit (I liked to old show much better).

Liberty Tree Tavern is good character dining.

Looking for the reply as to whether you want fun for kids or good food.

My top 5 are actuall very close. Not including Victoria and Albert's :

Artiste Point
Boma
LeCellieur
California Grill
O'Hana
Rose and Crown
Morroco

Ok - can't type, can't spell, can't count! :cool1:
