The Shark dive in Nassau is excellant.

However, DW is not into that. She does not leave the boat in Nassau. No reason to. The only thing we might consider to do as a family is to get a day room and enjoy Atlantis. Not the tour, but a day room. I think it is the Days Inn which then gives you access to all the facilities at Atlantis. That sounds pretty cool, but why leave the ship when the rain forest will be empty? :cool1:

I guess that is an actual dive that one needs to be certified for? I just dont know about the Atlantis. Granted we only toured the Casino and I was not impressed. I have much better luck in the Biloxi casinos. I have something in the works with another DISer to split the cost of a dayroom with her parents. APparently there are only 4 to a room, and they are 6......so I am just not thrilled with the idea of Atlantis......but then again I did not see all the exclusive things that are for resort guest eyes only.........Of course the rain forest is always a good back up plan...hmmmm

Great pictures... 49 weeks seems like such a long wait when I look at those!
Didn't get over to read your trip report yet, but congrats to Jared on his great play!!

Add that to the list of reasons why I don't camp!

When they show up, tell them that you 'forgot' to tell DH about the surprise.... see if they'll start next week. :confused3 . Or, send them to my yard, and they can get all the 'racing stripes' that my lawn guys missed while trying to beat the thunderstorm last week.

I'm sure I could convince my kids to head over for the day... how horrendous are the crowds on Labor Day weekend??? Just waiting for the football schedule to come out... maybe we're playing an Orlando-area team that Saturday, and can kill 2 birds with one stone?

Nope... I don't blame her. My least favorite port anywhere, though I wouldn't let it stop me from going on a cruise- even if it only went there. First time there, we left the ship and were back on in an hour. That was enough for me! Nassau is a great 'pseudo-at-sea-day'.

That's a standard sized glass in my house... my mother taught me well!

We can't wait to hear the details from Scoopie!

Mary & Mark- looks like you should have dryer weather today (of course... its the workweek for the rest of us again). Enjoy your day!

And a TOPpirate: to start my day-shared with almost everyone!

I miss the short sweet and fluffy posts....can Karen back out to play???;)

Hi All! I can't sign in as Scoopie (must have something to do with operator error).

Scoopie is on his way to Houston. Must admit Jeanne and I were sad to see him go. Maybe he can visit again.

Wednesday, June 8 a limo picked us up at 10am for the trip to the airport (my sister needed the minivan to pick up Jesse and Sam for me and the limo was eier than asking someone for a ride).
Arrived, checked in 2 hours before our international flight, Vancouver. We were to leave Baltimore at 12:20pm, eastern, to Chicago and catch a connection at 2:30, central. Our flight was delayed in Baltimore and we missed our connection by 10 minutes, drat. I was going to call Mary and Mark but figured our rescheduled would be ontime. NOT! Didn't leave O'Hare til after 10:30pm and got to Vancouver at 2am (5am Baltimore time). Scoopie was the only one smiling!

Our hotel was lovely, in a great area downtown, walking distance to English Bay. Thursday we took the trolley around the beautiful city. Friday we hired a limo to take us to Capillano Suspension Bridge, Grouse Mt and the Whistler/Blackcomb resort. Cheryl was great, interesting, friendly and very infomative. Scoopie had fun staying with Jeanne while Sarah and I walked across the suspension bridge, not for the faint of heart. At Grouse Mt Scoopie rode a tram, I think 2700 vertical feet. At the top we saw wonderful carving, story poles, a rescued grizzly bear and a wolf.

My niece has the digital camera and will send the pixs to Mary for posting.

We've done Labor Day. In my opinion it is one of those weekends where you plan on going either first thing in the morning, spend a few hours, and than leave or go into the parks late at night. It will be hot and full. Or just go in and plan on not doing any rides. It's a great time to do all the things you never have time for, like eating around Epcot! :cool1:

We will be doing TL during the day, more than likely and catching the closing shows in the evenings....I mean what can I really accomplish in 2 and 1/2 days??? I could not get the 6th off, so I must head back to Columbus at a fairly decent hour on the 5th...boohooo

Ahhhh....Kevin....I love that picture. Almost makes it not feel so hot here.

Welcome home, Sue!!

Hey....late-seating 10-nighters.....Maria is no longer an asst server, she's a full-fledged server....and she and Dennis both still remember all of us. We must be famous!

OK, have a few minutes to relate the story.

I decided that I really "needed" a GPS. Looking at the different models out there I was torn between the Magellan 700 and the Garmin 2620. Both are about the same thing, but the Magellan had internal speakers and CostCo had it for $100 off. Being the tightwad person that I am, that was the one I went with.

Saga continues; After using this unit for about a week now I don't like it as much a the Garmin that you have. Mostly because of the Vias and waypoints insertion, the maps and the ability to find a point of interest nearest the route, which the Magellan didn't do as nicely. I have ordered the Garmin 2620 from CostCo and will return the other. Might even look at both units side to side for a REAL comparison.

Oh yeah this reminds me...I mentioned to my DH ( the non lawn man) that some Dads were getting GPS.....He wasnt sure what I meant( he has GPS on his work truck and thought I wanted to track his every whereabout like Bell does muahahaha) so I showed him on the net and told him why I thought he would like it......uhm......yeah lets just say I am a good saleslady for men that have sucker written on their forehead........remember he does??? Now he wants one...sigh....

It's a good thing that DH can't keep up with this thread. This would be too tempting for him. I can remember seeing a full moon in our bedroom window as I was mowing our yard last summer:earseek: .

Where ya been hiding lady!! Tell your DH that there will be a pop quiz when we board on 05/27/06 so he better be prepared!! ;)

So much of photography is being in the right place at the right time. You would not believe how many fish butt pictures I have thrown out. Of course underwater add another dimension to "getting the right shot", but that is the real beauty of digital!!

For those of you that don't know what Stacey is talking about, here is again. Taking from our veranda on the starboard side after dinner one night.

ahhhh..........bliss..I wanna be there B_E_A_Utiful!!!

All by myself............................
Dont wanna be all by myself......................

Arrived at the port at 11am expecting terrible checkin process, from reading the boards. Pleasant wait with coffee, tea, juice and pastries. We chatted with other cruisers and were on board by 12:10p. Radiance of the Seas is a lovely ship on the inside, lots of glass walls and even 8 glass elevators. It is very difficult not to compare Radiance to Magic. I prefer the external look/design of Magic but the interiors of both ships are beautiful and very different.

The food and service on Magic is (in my opinion) better. Don't think the food was yukky or the service poor, it is just not as good.

We had perfect weather for Southeast Alaska. Cloudy and cool on our first seaday. In Juneau it was mid 60's and partly sunny. Scoopie saw his first glacier, Mendenhall Glacier. Then we took the Mt Roberts tram to the top of Mt Roberts Mountain. Not much compared to Grouse Mt in Vancouver. Saw several eagles flying in the harbor. In Skagway Scoopie stayed on board with Jeanne while Sarah and I went on the Wilderness Safari. It was cold, 50's, grey and windy. We took a power catamaran from Skagway to Glacier Point. After a short bus ride we were fitted with rain gear, boots and life jacket. Short hike to the lake to board our 20' canoes. There were 8 of us and one guide. How surprised were we when the guide announced the canoe had a small electric motor and we just paddled for 'show'. We rounded a bend and there was Davidson Glacier. It was awesome. And very cold and windy, glad we had the motor!!!! Steered clear of the growlers, icebergs in fresh water.

More later!

Sue....can't wait for pictures...and more of the trip. It sounds heavenly. Friends of ours are going on a cruise to Alaska in August. They are wondering how the weather will be.

Oh my gosh, I was just thinking about Sam & his family today. Alicia mentioned Kristin. I bet she really remembers HIM!

OK, the temp is 112, but what's the humidity? ;)

Sue, welcome back! Yes, we will be needing your input on Alaska cruises. Another group cruise was planned while you were away.
