Here is a little known fact that I don't remember if I shared with the 10 day cruisers or not. I was Winnie-the-Pooh's mother for 7 1/2 years.

Mary, that sounds like fun!

Way back in the mid-70's to early 80's Sears was the only place you could get Winnie-the-Pooh merchandise.

I even played WTP a number of times before I fell and broke my ankle.

My dream job!!!!!! I lived for trips to Sears when I was a kid... the birthplace of my Pooh (sometime around 1972). I had Pooh clothes, pooh slippers, Pooh school shoes, etc.,etc, etc... and that was long before Disney merchandise was what it is today! The huge Pooh swinging on the swing that hung from the ceiling in Sears just made me speechless every time I was there. The nearest Sears was about 25 minutes away, so we didn't get there very often.

I even had a 1976 "Winnie the Pooh for President" campaign button... sure wish I could find it now!!!

I hate how commercial Winnie has become... he's mine... I don't want to share him with the world...

oh Mary, how cool!

I'm so disappointed my kids didn't fall in love with the Classic Winnie the Pooh stories as I did...I loved seeing Christopher Robin's room during the opening credits on the Wonderful World of Disney...I have the a.a. milne books and in our first house the family room was decorated in E. H. Shepherd Winnie the Pooh & Friends prints...

(The bathroom was Mickey and Mike's nursery was primary color mouse ears boarder, sheets, and comforter with striped wallpaper- can't remember if it was a Sears or J.C. Penney catalogue theme)

Jim, you're shattering our illusions about living in FL. Isn't every day a vacation?

It is until OhioMinnie shows up and than it rains. Cloudy and cold. I wore a coat outside during lunch today. That is not to happen in May in Florida.

Pooh is my best friend...
Hmm... maybe he'll come out of retirement for the Double Scoop cruise... he could keep Bear company!

Definitely bring Pooh - our mascot goes everywhere we do - and she is a "very good influence." Why else would you request frozen drinks at 2:00 in the afternoon. :rotfl: Or stop for ice-cream? pirate:

Jared had several surgeries as an infant and toddler, and he has the Get Well Pooh (that they don't make any more) with the bandages and crutches. Jared is now 5'5"...and still sleeps with Pooh (don't tell that I told!). Pooh has been on every trip we have ever taken. I can't believe that we didn't introduce Bear & Pooh at Christmas!

A T.O.P. for me and Pooh!!!!

I'm just a little black rain cloud,
Hovering over the honey tree..........

Ok I'm showing my age now, but I worked on that "campaign". Even went to a pep rally on the Sears Tower Plaza with the artist who sang "Pooh for President". It was a very fun time. All of the clerical staff in our department wore Winnie the Pooh smocks.

One of the coolest parts of my job was I got to see lots and lots of early photos from WDW. Constuction photos of the castle and everything. It was very cool.
Plus when I went to Disneyland for the first time I got signed in by a cast member and given booklets of tickets you could use on any ride - A, B, C, D or E! Got to do the soft opening of Big Thunder one time as well. Yes it was definately the start of my Disney addiction.

How funny this subject came up today - Maggie just pulled out my "Pooh for President" glass for something to drink, I forgot about it...I still have my coca-cola Holly Hobby glass, too... Now, I'm showing my age - back when McDonalds had "real" happy meal prizes...

That's so sweet. But our anniversary is TOMORROW.

I'll score tinksdad a 9.5 for effort - nice try but, ya still have time before tomorrow.... :rotfl2:

At least he calls her his "Snuggle-bunny" and not "Bertha" or "The Old Brood Mare"....not that I know anyone who calls their wife that.....:rolleyes1

I forgot about my Pooh for President glass!!!

Happy Meals didn't come out til I was about 12... by then I was 'too cool' (or so I thought) to order one. (Besides... by then, as a starving gymnast and dancer, I would wolf down a quarter pounder AND a filet-o-fish during the walk home from practice after school... that was right before dinner!! And to think - at the time, I couldn't put on weight... wish I had that problem now!!!)

That's just Wrong!! :rotfl:

We just finished watching "Shall We Dance". It made us think of Kevin and Diana. :dancer:

Well, SIL has come and gone, and I lived through it. Jared's team won their game. ANd the talent show was a success! One boy played the violin, and it was amazing. Another guy played the piano....boy, how I wish I had kept taking lessons!

And Jordan did very well. I know she didn't get that talent from me......and I'm positive that Jay is her dad......he doesn't dance.....I guess we could thank my parents for that gift. They were the "Kevin & Diana" of their generation.
As Jordan was getting ready to go onstage, half the class was chanting "JORDAN JORDAN JORDAN". Her dad was just a tad proud!
I'm thinking of a couple of girls on this cruise who should dance for the Magic's talent show...and knock the socks off everyone!

I'm exhausted and have a million things to do tomorrow. No ball games, so it's time to get some work done!

SUPER SATURDAY MORNING TO ALL OF THE DOUBLE DIP CRUISERS!

Good morning Cruisers!
We sail in 55 weeks!

Woo Hoo! Another week closer to cruising!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, KEVIN & DIANA!!!!!

I wonder if we could steer the girls into coming up with a dance number? Might be fun for all!

Was that the original Japanese version or the new one with Richard Gere?

The "girls" saw the most recent version, but I still remember the original. Good movie, even with sub-titles.
