I forgot, you DVC owners a while back were talking about AP specials? I dont know if it is against the great rules of the DVC to ask, but is it possible that you may buy my AP's for me at a discount? Sheesh, any little bit helps!

Sorry about that one Amanda, but you are only allowed passes for the amount of people in your immediate household. Not even for other relatives. I am really looking forward to buying APs for our stay in December and then using them again in June after the cruise next year, and hopefully I will be going to a conference in Orlando in October 06.

I just found out what our school calendar will look like. Looks great for the cruise, because the last day for the 6th graders is on Wednesday, May 24 and last day for all other is Thursday, May 25. They have the 6th graders start a day before the 7th and 8th graders so they have a day to get acclamated.

Unfortunately, I was planning on school being out on Friday, December 16 for the Christmas break and that ain't happening. We already have tickets to fly out on Saturday, December 17 and now school isnt getting out until Wednesday, 12/21. I am going to have to go and sweet talk them at the school. At the high school, kids have finals those last three days. However, if you have a 90 average or above going into the final and you have missed less than 3 excused days of school for the semester, you don't have to take the finals. This happened this last semester with my son. He had all A's going in and no absences, so he got a 3 day break. I sure hope I don't have any problems with this year. This pre-Christmas trip is to celebrate my mom and dad's 50th wedding anniversary and we have a Grand Villa reserved at OKW. :cool1:

Well I must go now, we have a big swim meet the next two days and I have to get up at 5 am.:guilty:

Woops, looks like I was a little late responding to you Amanda. Diana beat me to it as I was typing my long-winded post

Amanda.....I am probably going to need a little help from Mary or one of the others on this one...but if I remember correctly, we really probably only had 3 or 4 families hop on the bandwagon in the last month or two before the cruise. I think things really heated up at the 9-month pre-cruise mark.
Of course, that's about the time I found the thread, too! :earboy2:

YEA! Sharing a T.O.P. with Amanda!!!!

Stacey, it seems to me that there were a lot of new posters in the last couple of months. Remember shuffling the dinner arrangements around? And how the wine party grew like Topsy? We got to know them quickly, so I guess it seemed like some had been around all along.

SO all you all, scubas, OM, and the Tinks all got to be friends via the thread, huh? That is amazing. Yall just hit it off right away? Seems like some really great lifetime friendships were made on that Christmas cruise!

And that is why it was worth every penny!:cool1:

Talk about a lot of pressure.

I can hear it now "DS, if you get anything less than a 90 we are going to miss you. The cruise won't be the same without you. " :confused3

Good morning Cruisers!
We sail in 63 weeks!

Woo Hoo! Another week closer to cruising!

On the topic of the 10 day - it did seem to go in spurts. Of course there was the initial rush but looking back on the first few pages of the thread we lost of a lot of those people right away (due to cancelling on their part). Then we had some who stayed for a while and then drifted away. Karen (ohiominnie) was one gone for a while but came back and made us all happy. Some would only stop by once in a while - I think they were the hardest. They were still going, but not really getting involved in the thread.

Then you had the die-hards who were on the thread a lot. As Stacey said she came in a bit later than others but still with many months to go and jumped right in.

We did have a few families join at the last minute, but I think most of the shuffling etc was from people who had joined early on and then went away for most of the thread and came back at the last minute.

Of course too with two seatings at dinner and not everyone seated together there were some DIS'ers I don't remember seeing more than once or twice (the DIS meet where I admit I was a bit overwhelmed and don't remember meeting everyone) and the wine party.

Best of all though was the regular group that we kept seeing. That was nice. Those in our dining area like the Scuba's, the OM's and Sue and her mom. Those on late dining like Stacey, Diana, Kevin and Virgil that we would see around the ship and at brunch, etc. Even a few that we just kept running into. That is what made it fun.

Speaking of dinner, I am still wrestling with the early/late dilemma... everyone so highly praises late; having never cruised DCL, but many other cruises, late always seemed like a terrible option.

Everything I read on the boards says that with the late option, no one has to rush to get to dinner... but doesn't it just mean that you rush to get ready to get to the shows... or do people go to the shows before showering and dressing for dinner. (yuck... and besides... formal/semi-formal nights should include the "going out" portion of the night as well as just dinner, if you ask me). A lot of what I read on here also makes it sound like there's not much going on after 11PM or so... if I don't finish eating a big meal til 10:30, I can't go to sleep til at least 1 or 2!!!

But at the same time, I'd rather stay away from having dinner with the entire toddler set, and would love to join the rest of you, who all seem to have late seating.

Advice????

Karen,

I'm new to the group and I have early dining. You are more than happy to sit with us. I think I'm going to stick to early. I, for one, can't eat that late. I will be sick every night if I eat that late all the time. We could see who else has early dining and get a group together that way if you'd like. Just my two cents and suggestions.

Thanks... I'm sure we'll have a good group from here to sit with at whichever seating-I'm not worried about the 'company'- we've got a few other early seatings on here too (check out Mary's website...) ... just trying to figure out what's going to make the most sense. Thats why I LOVE Norwegian... its open seating ALL THE TIME... best cruise ship idea anywhere!!!!

We'll be sticking with our early seating. But, we've got toddlers so you may not want to be around us! That's ok too. If I didn't have toddlers any more I would enjoy not being around them too. Another year from now and Ashley should be civilized enough to sit through dinner. She'll be 3.5 by then. Emily should be good since she'll be just shy of 6.

Angie

And just so everyone knows that I don't have 2 wild girls, we go out to dinner every Fri. night. So they're used to go out to dinner in a somewhat civilized manner ... no getting up & walking around and no screaming or pitching fits at the dinner table. The same holds true at home too. No one gets up from the dinner table until EVERYONE is finished eating. For the most part, it all works. :goodvibes The worst part about going out to dinner right now is the 50 trips to the bathroom!!! But that's due to Ashley just learning to be a big girl (potty). Hopefully in a few months that'll slow down. Sometimes I wish we had a boy... DH is off the hook & doesnt have to eat cold dinner due to being in the restroom all night!!!!

We're early seating too and would love to sit with other DIS'ers. We had two great groups on the 10 day (one early and one late). Of course some of my favorite families from early seating are now moving to late

Speaking of toddlers - we had an adorable one at our table on the 10 day. The servers were great at bringing him his meal and he loved the club so much that as soon as he was eating his mom would take him to the clubs. She got back just in time for her entree. It seemed to work really well for them. He was so cute as he would wave good-bye to us each evening.

This really is a tough decision. We have had both. The first time we went we had late seating. DD was only 5 and never made it through dinner. Since then we have always had early. However, we have always felt rushed. There have been times that I get on the ship at 5:30, quick change, and rush to dinner. No relaxing.

This time we have decided to do late. DD is old enough. There is also something about this with the kid program, but DW will have to explain that. I just can't keep track (and don't want to) of the kids program. I don't want to have to rush back on to the ship, grab a quick shower and go to dinner. I would rather miss some entertainment than food.

.

We also never really had the chance of ordering room service late afternoon, sitting down and enjoying it. We did not want to ruin our dinner. This time around we will do that most every night to take the hunger edge off.

Now DS has had both and like them both, but that is just because he got to eat twice. Oh, that reminds me. Matt is looking for a table invite to the first seating. If anyone has teenager who would like to have some company during the first seating, Matt will be glad to join you. :cool1:

Is that me? I feel the love! We will miss Bear at second seating. :goodvibes

Isn't that such a fun stage... and the minute you come back to the table with one, the other has to go...

Please don't get me wrong... I don't hate toddlers... I just have this vision of hundreds of them in one place at one time. Its great that you take your kids out often... we always did the same- it just teaches them at an earlier age how to be civil... although sometimes I wonder about my DS8. (No, really, he's a good kid for the most part... just 'active'... he has won the school enthusiasm award 3 times in a row... makes me wonder if the school thinks he's a little 'over the top' when it comes to energy level.)

That couldn't be farther from the truth right now, as he is lying here asleep with a 102 temp... 2nd time in 2 weeks... he never stops, so when he's like this, you KNOW something is wrong.

I am sure my mother-hen DD will LOVE having dinner with your two!!!! (And so will the rest of us...) We'll have a great early seating crowd... even if it is a bit sparse with DIS'ers
