Let me guess... 24 first-time cruisers who's entire marine-transportation experience consists of the "IASW" boat ride???

I guess - while I agree that there should be some compensation - especially if they were indeed pushing it to get back to NY - 4 million dollars each is a little much..... A free cruise - a refund.... ok.... but 4 million.....

Hmmmmmm - we've had lousy weather on our last 2 stops at CC (one of the reasons for the Double Scoop cruise - hopefully both days won't be bad....) so maybe a mil for our troubles???? I think I'll write Tom McAlpin and ask.....

I'm a mean mommy (some of you knew that)....no Father's Day gift. When all I get for Mother's Day is Taco Bell...I see no reason to go out of my way. Besides, I just took him on a cruise! (Yep...I pay for the cruises)

Ditto ditto. And the DVC, and the meals. Kevin is actually joking about me getting him an expensive GPS. But I have a feeling he will find a way.

I need to go look at the Theme Parks board. When did the death happen on Mission Space? So sad.

I love the quote in the article from the woman who claims she can't go near the water due to flashbacks... :confused3 2 months is sure a long time to go without bathing if you ask me!!!

In other news..... our litigious society strikes again......

" Two dozen passengers sued the Norwegian Cruise Line for $100 million yesterday after one of its ships was battered by a fierce storm while racing back to New York for a TV shoot for "The Apprentice."

I read about this cruise when it happened. It was the tail end of a hurricane, I think. And the experience was truly terrifying for the passengers. You know how we always say that a cruise is a good place to be in a hurricane? Not so for these guys, that captain must have been told to get that ship back no matter what!

Yesterday afternoon sometime. He was pronounced dead at 5 at Celebration Hospital, so sometime within the hour before that is my guess.

I just knew it would happen like this...

Mike signed up to be the camp doctor at our church camp. I signed up to be the nurse, but seeing as they only needed ONE medical person, they said they'd put me in a cabin....

Having NO experience at a camp like that, I asked to not be the MAIN person in a cabin (apparently there are two...main and helper) and they assured me that they'd put me down as the helper b/c of my concerns.

Well, the email today explains that they've had LOTS of teen girls sign up to help and they can't be main cabin counsellors, so I've been bumped up to main cabin counsellor.

That and the stess over the packing list I got for each of the kids!!! I'm going over the edge!!! The list is 100 items long and EVERY item needs to be labelled with their name, including each sock! I'm tempted to get them cheap outfits from Goodwill and not caring if they all get lost!!

It was a storm - that developed a 70ft wave..... I'm not denying that it was a scary time and wouldn't have wanted to have been on the water at the time.... my comment is based on suing for $4million each....

Here's a quote from NCL at the time....
She said the captain had believed he could steer through the edges of the storm, but that it behaved differently than forecast. She said the captain slowed the ship to a low speed of only four knots to minimize the rocking of the ship and discomfort for the passengers.

"There was no place to steer around," she said. "The captain acted completely appropriately, with his No.1 interest being the safety of the passengers and crew. We were not rushing anywhere."

I would ONLY label things that you are worried about them losing... if it doesn't matter to you, it probably won't matter to the camp! I doubt they'll be 'inspecting' for labels. I remember going to and working at camp every summer... I never labeled anything, even though the 'rules' said to...

But if you're going to... get the iron-on transfer paper for your computer printer, print out a whole page of each kid's name (or just your last name if its uncommon enough), then cut and iron away...

IRON?

Ok, that stressed me out more!

I certainly didn't mean IRON til the wrinkles are gone... just long enough to get the transfer to stick... sorry for the major confusion... don't want to wreck your day!!!!!!!!

I think the email to say she was a main counselor already took care of that....

I think I'd rather deal with 1 cabin full of girls, than a camp full of hypochondriacs!!! I remember camp at that age... everything warranted a visit to the nurse... whose answer was ALWAYS Cepacol or Pepto Bismol.

HA! good point!
It doesn't help that Mike tells me things like "the medical cabin is air conditioned." or "i'll take a book and sit back and read." or "i'll take my laptop and work on somethings!"

Grrrr! ;)

Why IRON - Use one of those Sharpie pens. They come in all colors so pick one that's not black to be unique and write away. There's always a lable on the cloths that will take a Shapie and it will take months of washing before it comes out.....Besides I thought part of going to camp was coming home with other kids clothes????

:earsgirl: (today - Susie Homemaker) NOT :rotfl2:

IRON - are you nuts!!!!!!!!!

We just watched the funniest comedian on Bananas!! (well, next to Taylor Mason from the 10 day cruise)

Check out:
http://www.bananascomedy.com/ and see if Bananas airs in your town. The guy we watched today was named Mike Williams and he was hysterical!! He had a bit about Braille menus at McDonalds that was so funny the kids and I could hardly catch our breath!

Virgil, I didn't mean to argue with you! I was just commenting on an article I read back then, obviously written by one of the passengers. I completely agree that $4 million is way, way out of line. A free or discounted cruise might be appropriate, yes. Of course NCL is going to say that their Captain did the correct thing, I guess that's what the court will hash out. Still glad I cruise on DCL.

my dad just sent me an email asking me what's going on......why have two people just died at WDW....one on mission space, the other on pirates.

Anyone know anything about a pirates death?

my dad, more than likely, read it but it was an archived story.
