This Dad was "dragging" his pre-school child and the child was screaming. All I could think was what I have heard other frazzeled parents say to their screaming kids "I paid a lot of money for these tickets and WE ARE GOING TO HAVE FUN".

We have seen too much of that actually. Since we have been so many times, it's not about "seeing and doing" everything. It's about having fun! We go do a couple of things at one park, and then go relax, then go do or see something else at another park and then relax. MUCH nicer way to go, at least for us. I couldn't imagine trying to pack the entire Walt Disney World in a few days.

I think Jim has the right idea. Look for me under the shade tree drinking Banfi!! :rolleyes1

I think I saw the same family... we were at EPCOT on Sunday, too.

But the one that took the cake for me was the family in front of us in line for Maelstrom... a mother and father, 4DD's and a DS. The mother & the 4DD's were all wearing those clear plastic 'princess shoes'... high heeled, light up shoes made for, say, a costume party... NOT for a marathon in the parks. All 4 DD's were complaining that their feet hurt... well, DUH!!!!! The parents had no intention of stopping or slowing down... blisters or not.

They were obviously NOT from the US, however, I would think they would use a little bit of common sense!!! Guess not.

The Lass Family is not a ride going family. It drives my sister crazy, but we don't do rollar coasters or spinnig rides. So, the parks are fun, but we don't kill ourselves in the long lines. We do the shows, the story rides, and parades. Both times we've been to the parks we have gotten tickets at huge military discounts. It kind of changed our attitude about how much we had to put into the day at the park. We got to the parks early, but left when we were hot and tired. Sometimes, we'd return after dinner. I love the hotel pools. Animal Kingdom is my favorite! The pool is awesome! :flower:

 As far as screaming kids, I've seen those on the cruise. Many people have asked me about kids on the cruise. This is my opinion, but I don't think I saw a happy 2 year old on the cruise, especially after 5:00! There was definite overload and exhaustion. I'm glad my kids are in the middle ages now, no whining, well limited whining. Will my kids be considered "older"? We will get the dining room without babies? Huh? Haven't thought about that for this cruise...something else to start obsessing on, COOL!

I try not to get upset with my kids while we are in WDW but sometimes it can not be helped. I will get angry with my kids if they run off ahead of me and I cant see them.

:rotfl: I get angry with my biggest "kid" when he runs off ahead and I can't see him, too...He's 6'6" - it's amazing how easy he is to lose...

Even for all the whining and tiredness- usually me - MK is still by far my favorite park...It has the most magic for me...My favorite memories are from my kids 1st and only visit when they were 2 and 4 - I discovered we'd have to ride the rides twice - once because I was watching the kids' faces as they were experiencing everything - then again because I missed it the first time.

Going right after Labor Day was a bonus - that first day, 10 minutes before the parade we snagged seats right in front of the castle...John forgot his camera, Maggie was pulled out of the crowd by Prince Charming to dance and then Mike goofed around with Jafar and the Genie...I cried...Thankfully, my dad remembered his...

I also remember my very first trip to the MK - back in the good ole' (Maggie's saying I spelled it wrong - it should be old) days of tickets...My dad and I rode in the Haunted Mansion together - he waved his arm around playing with his white shirt glowing purple in the lights.

Then "driving" in Mr. Toad's wild ride - he swore I'd never get my driver's license...

Me! Me! It just about killed me that we have been here for almost 2 years, and finally made it to one of the parks this week. Now that we broke down and bought Seasonal AP's, we'll be sure to get there often!!!!

I will go on any roller coaster anywhere anytime... yet I've never made it on RnR or ToT... first time we went after they were built, I was pregnant, and next time I had 2 kids to deal with, and limited time.... looking forward to finally riding it- though it will have to go a LONG way to beat Krakken at SeaWorld (which I know it won't.)

Karen, it probably won't beat Kraken for you. Have you ever been on the front row of that thing? I wanted OFF so bad. For one thing, RnR isn't a coaster, it's a Limo ride! :) We love TOT. If we could go on it over and over again, we'd be happy. Last August, Alicia and I were in line and found SIX fastpasses, just sitting on the wall, for later in the day. We did TOT three times in a row with those FPs. That was fun.

Very excited to try Soarin'. We haven't been to DL since we started visiting WDW in 1999.

I hate to say it, and would definitely be flamed elsewhere on this board, but I really wasn't all that impressed with Soarin'. It was a great ride, and I'll ride it again, but it wasn't the be-all end-all... Mission Space was MUCH better!!!

Honestly, I think it's because I have been skydiving... which is the absolute ultimate thrill. The feeling in Soarin' was similar to the feeling and the view after your chute opens...

I was in the first row, which is the highest up, however, I could see where the screen ended at the top, so I think that took away from the whole 'atmosphere'.

Don't get me wrong- it was a cool ride- I'm just glad I had an FP for it. DD thought it was incredible... so take her word for it, not mine!

I tried RnR andTot last May on my own (didn't do it on our previous trip) figured if I chickened out of TOT there would be no one around to make fun of me. Maggie's friend, Emily, loved them both - she went on at age 6 - so I figured they couldn't be too bad, could they??? Emily forgot to mention RnR was in the dark!!! :earseek: I enjoyed the pre-show for TOT - not sure I'd do it again though...I"m a whimp!!! I discovered the drawbacks of going to the park solo on TOT - I got to line jump waaaayyy ahead before I had time to psych myself up (or out...) Met two great 10 year old cousins in line whose grandma waited outside for them - they were giving me all sorts of tips and hints, when they found out I had never ridden before it was really sweet...

Wad da matter hon? Don't you like being the first in line to go completely upside down and inside out?
I LOVE that coaster! Smooth and fast, just like that collage girl I used to date........ :earseek:

oppps....... :rolleyes1

Wow! You guys have really been chatting away! I scratched my eye at Jared's game last night and couldn't read. Darn it....
ANd a busy day today....the eye still hurts but I think it's improving.

Kevin...you'd best be careful...your DW may find some cute bartender at the Rose & Crown, and finally have her home in Florida!! :earseek:

And so I don't get out gunned.....

:bday: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LOVELY BRIDE!! :bday:
:thewave: :thewave:

You are that collage girl!! :lovestruc

Nice save, Dude! I get to be next.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DIANA!!!!! :bday: :cake: :thewave: :thewave: :thewave:

Amanda, Max is tooooooooo cute! Thanks for putting those up so we could see them!

Boy, you guys are brave talking about the MK and strollers like that! The last time I said something, I made the mistake of doing it on the main boards and BOY did I get flamed!:duck: :duck: But it isn't just the MK, it's the mall...everywhere. I must have been the only (or one of the few) polite stroller-pushing Moms. I zig-zagged all over to try to stay out of people's way. No wonder my kids' brains are rattled! ;) Okay, that's off my chest now, too. I do think there should be "adults only" times.
Funny, my hair stylist just asked me how old her youngest should be before they cruise DCL. I said "Five". I didn't take mine to the parks until they could walk. And I was one of those HORRID moms who had the kid on a leash. Well, sorry if I didn't want my kid to get lost or kidnapped. HEY......now that they are teens.......:scratchin

Anyway, things have been so nuts lately. I was so bummed about having to cancel our Mexican Riviera cruise for August, thanks to school starting early.....apparently the June 4th cruise is pretty empty, because DCL called us and offered us a room. We had 24 hrs to decide....actually less, because they left me a voice mail that I didn't get until hours later....we talked....we cancelled our trip to Disneyland in May....and my wish for a Disney cruise ship (and to be ON one) is coming true. Good news: We don't have long to wait. Bad news: I don't have long to get ready. Good news: We don't know anyone on the cruise so we can wear the same clothes as the last cruise. Bad news: DS has grown at least 2 more inches...and needs new shoes. And pants, most likely. I guess if that's the worst news I have to deal with, I can handle it.

Off to bed. Have a good one!
