Wish we were sailing today!

:cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold:
It's an awfully cold day to be sailing out of here... granted, its still warmer than the rest of the world, but my heated seats in my truck came in handy this morning... sailaway would be mighty chilly tonight!!!!!

Snowing and cold here. Wintry mix and ice expected today and then snow snow snow tomorrow. Between the two kids, they have 6 shows this weekend.
My parents were supposed to drive down from Cleveland for the shows. After much thought and tears (on my mom's part) they decided to stay home. :(
The kids and I will be staying in town tonight at the Hyatt. KT's show won't get out till 10, and we'll have to be back here around noon tomorrow. No point in fighting the snow and ice back and forth to London. Watch, I'll stay in town and one of two things will happen.....either it'll all turn to rain and we could have come home, or shows tomorrow will be cancelled and I'll be stranded at the Hyatt.

Stranded at the Hyatt.....hmmmm....maybe that's not SO bad. ;)

How did the weekend turn out? Hope you are all safe & sound.

Beautiful pictures, Mary. Thanks for sharing! You and Mark look so cute with Mickey and Minnie! I definitely want to do the Fort Wilderness Segway (I've done the one at Epcot). :thumbsup2

Rachel graduated from UGA yesterday. :cheer2: Even though none of you have met her, I want to share a picture of her. (especially since she's the inspiration for the first part of my Username!! :))

Congrats to Rachel. What is she going to do now?

Angie

Not sure who the original author was of this prose - as it was sent to me - but I think it is fun to post.

'Twas the night before Christmas, and far out at sea
Our vessel was sailing, as smooth as could be

The stockings were hung from the balcony chairs
With hope that St. Nicholas would find them out there

The children were nestled all snug in their uppers
Having just settled down from a Christmas Eve supper

And ma and myself, we were covered in aloe
A bit too much sun, in a pool, warm and shallow

When up in the sky, there arose such a clatter
I leapt from my bed to see what was the matter

To the sliding glass door, I flew like a flash
Well, more like a saunter, and less like a dash

And what to my skeptical eyes should appear
But a great shiny sleigh, and eight flying reindeer

They circled our ship, from starboard to port
As the moon lit the driver, a jolly old sort

Who called to his team, in a happy retort
"Now Dasher, now Dancer," so on and so forth

We raced through our cabin and into the hall
To the very top deck, in time for us all

To be awed by the sight of Old Santa's sleigh
As he lightly touched down, by the midnight buffet

With a bundle of goodies thrown over his back
He rose in the air and dropped down the smokestack

Santa went straight to work, and later we learned
He found every child's cabin, from the bow to the stern

Insides and oceanviews, balconies and suites
Santa filled every stocking, with toys and with treats

Until all his deliveries had been handled with care
Then he noted he still had a minute to spare

So he surfed the wave rider, with nary a fall
While Dasher and Dancer scaled the rock-climbing wall

And Prancer, who had always been fond of the cold
Tried the ice-skating rink, a sight to behold

And then with a whistle, Santa summoned his team
And he bade us farewell, silent nights and sweet dreams

And I heard him exclaim, as he flew out of view
Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good cruise.

Congrats to Rachel. What is she going to do now?

She'll be starting a job with an IT Staffing firm (sales) @ I-285 & Ashford-Dunwoody Rd in January. She's anxious to get out in the "real world"!

Stacey, how's everyone in your household doing?

I've been wondering too. Stacey, how's Jay doing? How are you holding up?

Irene, your siggie says that you're leaving on a cruise soon. Have a great time!

WOW - "1 day until..." :yay: Have a wonderful cruise Irene & Sam - and Hedgie?! :santa:

I'd tried posting at different times for the last three days, and either it's the Boards that's slow, or my computer, but after waiting forever I gave up!

Laura...that picture of Rachel just proves once again how extraordinary DIS kids are. She is beautiful!!! And congrats to her!

We're fine. We've changed Jay's bandages enough now that I'm getting more used to his hand the way it is, and so is he. The first time seeing them was a pretty bad shock for both of us. But he's optimistic, and says he doesn't have a whole lot of pain. He sees the surgeon tomorrow, so we'll see what he has to say. I personally think the doc did a great job. There are about 15 teeny, tiny stitches just on one fingertip...that's a lot of work! And it should make for a really smooth surface when it's all healed.

So we've been busy making plans for Christmas at home. We went and bought a "real" tree....I like artificial (no mess) but Jay likes real, so this is "his" Christmas. Did a little more shopping and plan to have shrimp kabobs on the BBQ for Christmas dinner. That's because Jay was bummed about not going on the cruise and getting all the shrimp and lobster he wanted! I told him I'd cook him lobster, but he settled for shrimp. :)

Megan said she's tried to post, and it won't let her. So she wanted me to ask if anyone knew why. Of course, now I forget the error message she was getting. Maybe just that she wasn't "allowed"...although she WAS logged in.
:confused3

Good morning everyone - happy Tuesday!

Happy Anniversary to those of us who sailed on the 10 day Christmas Cruise. It was 3 years ago today that we set sail. I've given the old thread a bump up with some photos to remember the cruise by. Wish we were sailing today!

Two great minds! I actually thought about it this morning, too!! :thumbsup2

Glad you checked-in Stacey! :) Happy to hear you all are doing OK. Your Christmas Dinner plans sound divine! :cloud9:

I know the boards will be getting new servers, but I have no idea why Megan's having trouble posting. The only thing I can suggest is that she log out and log back in. :confused3 Best to ask the experts: Oh, Mark and Mary; where are you?! :surfweb:

I'm here! Not sure why Megan is having problems logging in. I haven't had any problems from home or work. I would do as Laura suggests and have her log out and log back in.

Thanks guys, I'll tell her. I also need to see if she has it set on WYSIWYG...maybe that setting won't work for her.

Good Morning Everyone!

Posting Irene style this a.m. Bon Voyage!

Mary, Love the Disney pictures!

Laura, congrats to Rachel!

Stacey, what time is dinner?

Is Virgil home yet or is he still trying to rack up points by flying the most indirect route?

OM, how's the stage mom? Have you stepped out of your car yet?

Stacey, I sent you an e-mail to ask how Jay is doing and then checked the board. Will do things the other way around next time.

I am done with shopping, yay! I do have one package to mail to my Dad. He's in AZ though, so I think I have a couple of days yet. Have not planned Christmas dinner, Kevin likes prime rib once a year. Have not figured out where to get it, seems like we usually go to Sam's Club but my membership expired! Does Trader Joes have prime rib?

Alicia is done with her play, it went well. She makes a cute old lady. What a week the last one has been! Target really cut her hours next week, she only works Monday and Wednesday. I guess things are slow in retail, I hope she gets to stay on after the busy season. She has a couple of finals today, and one presentation tomorrow. Her French class has an interesting final on Friday. They are going to a mock courtroom at the University, and doing a trial in French. She is supposed to be a witness who is a stripper. We have been trying to figure out what a stripper would wear to court. Thank goodness she's not supposed to dress like she's going to work!

Mary, I'm off to look for the 10 day thread! Thanks for posting some pictures, great memories.

Diana, you'll have to let us know how Alicia's mock trial goes ... sounds interesting, to say the least!

I think I'm done with my shopping. I do want to get the girls some new pajamas but if I don't get to it, no big deal.

I had my review yesterday & mentioned to my manager that I'd like to cut back to 30 hours/week beginning in mid-August. I told him that I want to continue to work but want to be there for my kids & family too. He was understandable and said that it's certainly doable. YEAH!!! :cheer2: My kids will still have to go to summer camp & camps during breaks, but they won't HAVE to do after-care anymore.

Angie

Stacey, thanks for keeping us posted. Let us know how the appt. w/ the surgeon went.

How are YOU doing? I hope you are taking care of your heel/foot! Are you walking on it yet?

Merry Christmas All - thanks for to bon voyage wishes and yes of course, Hedgie will be there as well. We will miss all our DisFriends, and we will try to have some shrimp and lobster for Jay - see what good friends we are! Seriously, I am glad he is doing better and that you have a "real tree"...Enjoy it, they are so pretty. We have the "fake tree" packed for the trip....Hedgie bought it...it's tacky, it's red! I'll take pictures....but I must remember to post.

Trying to finish up a few things at work before I head home for last minute packing, checking the list twice and then heading to Cocoa Beach for a restful evening before boarding the WONDER for a 3 night Pre-Christmas Cruise. our second "annual" - thanks to the Scuba's

Take care all.....will check in Monday....

And a U-top to start the Season.......

Hi all, seems like I have really missed a lot over the last few weeks. Stacey -- so glad Jay is doing better. Mary - love the WDW updates. Reminded me of the 3 trips we have made to WDW around the holidays. Sure wish I was there. Laura -- what a beautiful daughter you have. Congratulations. OM - saw the pictures of the cast from play. KT sure is growing up. Angie, Congrats on getting to cut back. Monica -- sounds like you are having fun planning your cruise.

Things have been really crazy. Dale has been working on his college applications and scholarship aplications. That is done, now the waiting begins. Ashley has been really busy with the swimming. This week we have Dale's concert tonight and Ashley's tomorrow night. Sunday we are driving to Austin for Christmas with my family and will be back on Thursday. Ashley starts her "Hell Week" swim practices and will miss 2 days of those. They will run everyday from 6:30 - 9:00 a.m. beginning Dec. 26 and ends on Jan. 5. she is doing incredibly well at this point. She has qualified for the State Meet in Dallas already in one event and is very close in a 2nd event. Her 100 breaststroke event is the 5th fastest in the state right now for her age and for those she would be competing against at the state meet. We are really excited for her.

Looks like we might have hit a snag on meeting up at DL in June. Dear hubby submitted the wrong vacation dates and he is supposed to be back at work on 6/16. There is someone now already taking that week, so he says he can't extend it. Don't know what we are going to do at this point. Thought we might could do something over Spring Break, but Dale wants to go on a Mission Trip with his youth group to Mexico. Told Dale we might go to Florida without him and he was okay with it (I have a conference I could attend). Anyway, not sure what will happen.

The spring is going to be really busy. We will be in Midland over MLK weekend for swim meet, then going to College Station in February for another College Day, Dallas in March for the State Swim Meet.

Laura, found out today that the Southern Zones Meet will be in Atlanta next August (1st week). We will have to wait and see if Ashley qualifies or if we will even go, since we will be trying to get Dale ready for College. The following year (2009) it will be in Orlando. I know for sure we will be trying to get qualified for that.

I believe I had mentioned her before that Michael W. Smith was going to be our college commencement speaker. WOW, he was so wonderful. he is really a nice guy in person. Both of the kids got to spend some really nice time talking to them and he seemed genuinely interested in them. I was very impressed with his speech as well (giving back to the community). We then got to go to his concert the next night and had floor seats. I was really impressed with Melinda Doolittle (from American Idol). She has an amazing voice. I will try to post a picture in another message.

Hope everyone has a joyful and blessed holiday.

Stacey, thanks for keeping us posted. Let us know how the appt. w/ the surgeon went.

I am so glad I don't have to drive those freeways every day! There was an accident at the exit before ours, so we ditched off the freeway, entered unfamiliar territory, wandered around the city, but still managed to get him there on time. Whew.

So the doctor told him to start soaking his fingers in warm, soapy water, to get the stitches to melt. He said it's closed, and it's time. Kinda scares me, after my incision not closing all this time.....no, it still isn't closed all the way but almost.
And he said for Jay to start "exercising" his fingers, mostly just making a fist and opening it. He has some swelling and was disappointed to hear that it could be a couple of months before that goes down. Jay asked when he could start using that hand at work, and the doc didn't look too thrilled, but told Jay he should at least wait one more week.
All in all, he's healing well, and sees the doc in 3 weeks. Would have been two weeks, but with the holidays, we ended up at 3. When Jay goes back, I have an appointment with him too. He's a hand specialist, and my wrist (from when I fell a year ago November) still hurts, and he said it shouldn't. He'll take new xrays to see what's going on, he suspects maybe a cyst formed on the injured tendon. I like this guy.

As for me and my foot......the incision is almost closed all the way, it looks pretty good. I am walking really well, just a little limp. I have the most trouble with stairs, slopes and uneven surfaces, so we're still working at therapy on the movement in my ankle and the strength in my calf where he cut that muscle. It will be probably a year before all the inner healing is done and we know if it worked. I didn't realize it would be this long a recovery. Oh well, just like with Jay's accident, I am really truly just grateful to be up and walking, alive and well, healthy and whole. Well, except maybe my mind, but I lost that a long time ago.;)
As for dealing with it all....one day at a time. Whatever doesn't get done today will still be there tomorrow. And there's plenty to do. lol If we didn't have doctor and therapy appointments almost every day, I'd maybe get something done. Ah, but think how bored I'd be!!
