Looks like we'll be joining you & Sandi. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Are Mark & Mary booked on this one too? I've got some sweet talking to do though. This morning I went out to DCL's site & a SPH was available. It was before 8:00, DCL phone lines weren't open & I didn't want to lose the room, so I booked it! Now I'm hoping they'll let me transfer my '08 ressie to this one & keep my 10% discount & OBC. Keep your fingers crossed for me. If we're lucky enough to keep the discount & credit, then the cost won't be much more than our '06 cruise in a cat 8. Also need to keep my fingers crossed that school will be out by then!!!

:cool1:  :cheer2: I'm doing the happy dance!!! I called DCL & was able to transfer my onboard booking discount!!! At first the CM said that I was out of luck. I asked to speak to a manager. She put me on hold for a while then came back & said that she was told what to do & would take care of me. So .... as long as the school cooperates, we'll be on that cruise in '09!!!

Ang

Wow... and I thought I was bad using my large-format plotter to help Elizabeth print her game board for her science project game!!!! :)

You are not even close to being bad.

Sharon took the broken project into work today to let the engineers redesign it.

So far the only thing Lisa has learned during this project is that her Daddy knows lots of words that she never heard before! :scared1:

YAY!!!! :yay: That's awesome that you got an SPH!!! :cheer2: Keeping my fingers crossed for you that the school dates will work out!

We loved the SPH on our girls' cruise! I didn't even think to try to get one. I thought they would all have been taken. Caleb is likely going to miss a couple of days of school in '09, depending on snow days or not. We're not going to worry about the end of school, as long as all the tests have been taken for the year.

Sandi, I went onto DCL's website this morning and found an SPH too!! I was just playing around and when I entered info for a Cat 10 on that cruise, there was the SPH! :goodvibes (we'll be in one of the connecting ones, but that's OK - the savings is well worth it!)

That's what I get for not looking and just assuming they were taken. :confused3

I think that reserved rooms are getting released back in to inventory. It may pay to check on a daily basis for the next few days. I submitted a request to inventory control for SPH rooms for 7-night cruises in June 2009. Rather than contacting me to find out which cruise I wanted, they automatically booked me on a cruise in mid June. I had a voice mail on Friday saying that I have until Dec. 12 to put down a deposit. Of course it wasn't a cruise that I wanted (well, maybe wanted but couldn't afford). So, I think that probably happened a lot & those rooms are now being released. Laura & I got lucky this morning. Keep checking though. Maybe something will open up. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! And if something happens & we're not able to cruise then, you can have my room.

Angie

Greetings from Orlando airport. Getting here was a breeze as was check-in and security. Flight is showing on time so we are good so far. Headed back to the frozen north.

We haven't booked any '09 cruises yet. In fact we are still trying to decide what we want to do in '09.

I'm trying not to scare my family. I'm trying to restrain my DCL fanaticism

I've given them our 90 mark for all payments, reservations choices, etc to be finalized - since the four of us are spread out in the 4 rooms, we'll see what the system will allow us to reserve...John has 2 am at 90 day mark already entered into the calendar.

And I'm requesting door sign ideas ;)

I'm slowly introducing posting on the meet thread - we'll wait a bit until it gets closer...

All I can say is "Welcome to the Dark Side..." :darth:

And now my Dad has mentioned adding time in at WDW :cheer2:

Finally, back to the Boards. Christmas preparations are well underway. We took a short trip this weekend to see Candlelight Procession which was as glorious and moving as ever. Steven Curtis Chapman was our narrator. We missed mark and Mary (and Bear), although with their time schedule I have no clue where they would have found even an extra 5 minutes…Mary - thanks for the trip reports, how do you manage to post while on vacation???? Glad that you enjoyed the Florida weather.

We drove up Friday mid-afternoon. Sam drove and I wrote Christmas cards. About 2.5 hours later I was not finished with cards, but I was ready to start the holidays with the Mouse. We opted for Pop Century, can't beat those Florida rates. We checked in and the room was ready so we unloaded the champagne and headed for Disney Studios (fka MGM). We rushed to see the Harlem Gospel Choir, wow - talk about enthusiasm, and spirit. We then strolled through the Osborne lights - the dancing lights and "Florida snow" gets me every time. That night we ate at Ragland Road - after a brief walk through Downtown Disney - no shopping - alas, too crowded.

Saturday it was up to visit Epcot. The lines for Soaring were already 40 minutes when we arrived at 9:15 - we took a fast pass, but did not use same. We enjoy the Land boat ride so saw the Mickey pumpkins and Rosemary trees instead. The morning was spent wandering the countries and listening to story tellers. Lunch was at the new Tokyo Dining - we were seated overlooking the Lagoon in the window seat and were treated to such service. As we had reservations for Chef de France (as part of our Candlelight Package at 5:40) we only had sushi - a good choice. I like the revamped areas, although the sound is a bit noisy with the high ceilings.

We returned to Pop for a rest, actually Sam had a rest, I went Christmas shopping and wrote a few more cards. Then it was time to drive (yes drive) to Epcot for Chefs - perfect - and Candlelight - what can I say, if you ever get the chance, please see it. Mary, we had the 8:15 Candlelight.

The fireworks are extra that night - they provide a display following illuminations. EVER WONDER IF THE ISLAND CATCHS ON FIRE? Well, it does. YUP….We were standing with a few folks and saw the embers fall on the island. It started to burn quite a lot - 10-20 feet and getting close to the trees. So here comes the boat. Yeah claps the crowd….and the fire is getting larger and taller….and the boat tosses one (yes one - that is 1) bucket of water on the fire. You have got to be kidding, the crowd laughs (guffaws is more like it). So the boat trys to back the propeller up to the shore to toss more water on the flames. Nothing doing. The fire is to far from shore and is getting larger and taller….Here comes boat number 2 - a "2 boat alarm fire". It tosses a bucket of water - ok folks, now this is getting serious, (but also hilarious). No one is leaving, we are all watching the drama unfold. (Hi GaRRy, where were you). Finally, the boats get enough water on the shore so that a fireman can hop off and start using a chemical compound to extinguish the fire. By that time, it was pretty large….and serious. All is well that ended well.

We walked out of Epcot remarking that the ducks were swimming peacefully on the lake, what fire? What fireworks? What bangs? We missed much of the crowds. And drove to the Kingdom - we were able to park in VIP parking and entered the MK at 10:30 -

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, the castle is awesome, beautiful, wonderful, magical, enhancing, exciting, words fail me. I am so grateful to Mary for posting the picture (4 weeks ago) otherwise we would not have taken the time to head to the MK - main street was pretty, we had not seen it for a while, but the castle…….Remarkable, just stunning….

The lines were long for the Haunted Mansion but we did see Pirates, and I like the new effects of adding Jack Sparrow. We headed back at 11:50 to beat the rush and were home in time to catch the re-run of the Heisman Trophy award.

Sunday, sigh; time to pack up the fake red Christmas tree. The Shrine had the life size naivety set up - another Christmas tradition. And rather than more parks, we took the monorail around to see the gingerbread houses in the hotels…..(I don't wanna leave) but we must.

The ride home was uneventful, more cards were written. And when we arrived, we lit our own beautiful tree….

Whew, so that is what we have been doing….and here is to a massive catching up on the news.

Jim, it is warm again, at least down here…Stop hogging all the cool air, we need a little. And Banfi with running?

Laura - your comment on the castle, it is more that you can imagine - honest.

Mary - thanks for the trip reports…and we wore our Disney Christmas t-shirts. Of course during the day I had a long sleeve on -for the sun, not for warmth. There have been years we have been wearing sweatshirts and wool hats, not this time.

the future travels, Ang, Sandi, (May 23) hum, well we need a date to rebook on board when we take our Pre-Christmas Cruise - perhaps we will crash your party. But then there is that land and sea Alaska info Sharron sent….?????

Karen, the cookies are so cute…..I bet everyone was glad you raised your hand…I am with KikiKaren, I don't do Christmas cookies either….

Monica (and all the parents of our Diskids) how do you keep up with them? Without teaching them a few choice words? uh huh - And congrats on getting your dates for the family cruise…wehee….

Grocery Shopping???? what is that?

Diana - congrats to Alicia - we did that production when I was in Jr College….

Now that I am caught up for the moment - I can get back to work so I can get back to Christmas preparations…oh yes, and I need to pack for the pre-Christmas cruise….and something about books - cave diving - anyone out there understand???

PS. I work with engineers, to take a seasonal phrase - You'd better watch out, Lisa!

Woohoo! Got an email today from the county today with the draft school schedule for '08-'09. The last day of school is May 22, 2009!!! :yay:

Mary, hope you & Mark had safe travels home! We're very warm here in GA. Ashley wore sandals to school today.

Irene, thanks for your post. When I was on hold with DCL yesterday, they were playing what I suppose was the Candlelight Processional (Morgan Freeman narrating) ... very moving. We will definitely have to go for Christmas one year.

Angie

We are home safe and sound! Thanks for all who kept us in your thoughts.

This was definately one of our best trips.

Today's flight was uneventful and now we are both just tired. Going to chill for the afternoon. Tomorrow we go back to work. Got to pay for these trips somehow. :)

Yes, please try to do so....I always said I never had time to go to WDW right before Christmas and now it is part of our celebrations.

Glad to have you back home safe and sound.
I've missed you. :)

I will have to poll the rest of the family on their favorite trip to WDW (cruises don't count), but I bet our trip last December just before Christmas is way up there. The October 2004 F&W trip with Dive Quest would probably win, though.

Irene, were you in the production? And what part did you have?

There's a lot of excitement here for cruises that are so far away! But I do understand.

Well, the Atlanta Crown Gymnastic Meet Sessions are up on their website now. So, for our Atlanta area friends - Lisa is competing in Session 4 (Level 10) on Saturday January 19th at 12:15.(Her meet is scheduled from 12:15 - 3:30 with awards following).

I am so glad to not have gotten Friday at 8am or Sunday ending at 8pm:cool1:

Tori and I plan to be there! :cheer2: Can we buy tickets in advance? At the door?

I was actually one of those "behind the scenes" director type people.....
You know, the ones that Alicia "complains" about.

Take care!

Yippee - a TOP, aTOP, a TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but as another one of those "Behind the Scenes" people, if it weren't for us - there wouldn't be any "In the Scenes" people!! Someone's got to keep those actors on book!!! ;)

Prayers needed please!

I can't go into details but Jay and Stacey are in need of our prayers right now.

Thanks!
