Yikes! Sounds like you're going to need Jay and the kids to serve you after surgery! :)

Due to circumstances beyond my control, Megan will be moving back into our guest house on the first of October. Now she'll have to be over here cleaning and getting it ready, and spending most nights here....so I'll also have my own Medical Assistant around to help.

They've all been informed of the amount of work they're going to have to do. We'll see how that works out in reality.

I told the girls that since I'll be dependant on them to feed me, they can pull out a "diet" cookbook and only feed me healthy stuff!!

Well, sounds like that should fix it! After all that, I sure hope so.

Well, you saw what I went through last year....so I guess it's about time. From what I've read online, it's actually only about 50/50 as to whether it takes care of it completely or not.
I won't be reading online any more. I'm planning on being a success story! But it's gotten to where I can't make it all the way through the grocery store w/o wanting to die from the pain...so it's definitely time.

I wouldn't even DREAM of going to the mall now. So when it cuts into shopping, something HAS to be done. ;)

Best of luck to you Stacey! Like OHMinnie said, you're definitely going to need lots of help. I hope things go smoothly with the 1st and you'll be looking forward to having the 2nd done.

Ang

I figure I'll either be looking forward to it, or I'll be running away screaming "NOOOO"....
:confused3

Here's a picture of the walker I ordered. For the first 3 weeks after each surgery, I can't put weight on it, and there's NO WAY I'm using crutches. We'd be having more accidents if I did.....
I called some medical supply places here and it would cost more to rent one than to just buy one...and I get free shipping:thumbsup2

Stacey,

Count my girlfriend in as a success story! Your surgery sounds similar to hers. Just think DL in March on a new foot!!! :cool1:

Yikes. That doesn't sound good. Hope all turns out well. Hey, at least she'll be there for you, eh?

Yes, stop reading the internet stories. Remember, the people who aren't success stories are the ones writing all of the stories. The people who it worked for are out living life and having fun and aren't stopping to think about writing their story down. So internet stories are always going to be skewed towards the negative!!

Here's a story for you. Mike works with a woman who likes to be in control of her kids. She's VERY attached to them. Almost to an unhealthy level. Well, she dropped her third (and youngest) son off at college (private university) on Thursday night. Moved him into the dorms and all. The place is about 1 hour from home.

Friday he called home. He didn't like it. He wanted to transfer to a closer college (state school), live at home, and commute to school.

So she picked him and all of his stuff up.

Does anyone else think this is odd? Maybe I'm mean mom, but I'd be saying "suck it up, you don't quit after 24 hours."

Count me in on saying "Suck it up" - then again, I went 4 hours away and two states over. No one from h.s. in sight, no internet and no tv, no cell phone, no communication with the outside world because the calling card was only for calling home. Only went home if I could find a ride. If my mom were that attached, I'd be celebrating my freedom. Sounds like a helicopter parent to me...

I'll go for the "Mean Mom" award here. My kids know - if they start something, they've got to finish it! :) I'd tell the son, "we'll discuss it at the end of the semester"! :cutie:

You and I are on the same page with this one.

I don't think I would be home on Friday night to take the call. I would be out on the town celebrating that we got one of the kids out of the house!!

I saw a lady use one of those in Walmart the other day as I was trying to hobble around with my broken toe. I thought it looked pretty cool. She was definitely getting around well with it.

I can't say what I'll feel like when it's time for my kids to go off to college, but I do think I would tell them to stick it out! I can't see giving up on college after 1 day! Something's wrong with the mom AND son. I know when I went to college, I couldn't wait to get out of my parents' house. But, I was also only 30 minutes from home.

Don't they use these for the one-legged downhill luge events at the X-Games?:confused3

I can't say that I watch or read Bill O'Reilly much but his syndicated editorial in our local paper caught my eye tonight. It was titled "High School Musical Blues".

http://www.billoreilly.com/newslettercolumn?pid=21731

I definitely applauded his take on the movie & his criticism of other critics. Like Mike's (OHMickey) article said, Disney does things right when it comes to programming for our kids.

Tell me you aren't going to have to maneuver stairs with that!!!! I highly suggest a helmet, knee pads, and wrist guards!!!

I honestly hesitated at the helmets at Target today. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We only have one step in our house....it goes from the level that has the bedrooms, bathrooms and living room, up into the kitchen and dining room.
And since I can't get up that step, someone else will have to cook, right??;)

Thank you for what you said about not reading the internet. That was exactly what I needed to hear!

Well, the doctor DID say that when he got through with me, I'd be able to do anything I wanted to do! I shut my mouth before I asked him if I'd be able to play the piano.:rotfl:

You have GOT to be kidding me!!

When and if I finally get rid of the last one, I'm selling the house and moving. If I can't do that fast enough, then I'm getting an unlisted number and changing the locks on the doors.

There is something really sick about this.
