I must have just missed the eclipse....got up to take the moose out but went straight back to bed.
:guilty:

Hey Angie,

Diana gave you great insight - can't add anything really more other than our experiences: (We're on the "fun" side of dance and the studio has the option to go more intensive)

Talk with friends and other moms at school for recommendations, check around, visit other studios - compare prices, philosophies and commitment before making a decision.

We like the philosophy at Maggie's studio, the quality of classes, and the low commitment level. It all fits well with Maggie's personality. She's able to continue girl scouts, sports and other activities while taking classes. There's no pressure to take all three core disciplines or start with ballet. Maggie started with jazz, some are there just for hip hop - and Maggie this year - just tap. Last year she took all three core classes...

we pay per month 1 class per week/$45 2/$90 3/$135 4/$170 5/220 and unlimited or company $250... If we pay by the semester we get a 5% discount or full year is a 10% discount.

Our studio has open enrollment throughout all ages and levels. The optional Elite Company auditions are open to dancers age 12 and over who first attend a summer intensive week long workshop and then audition. The company dancers have a foundation of ballet and then jazz and usually, most are picking up tap after joining the company. The elite company attend regular classes during the week minimum 2 hours ballet, 1 jazz, 1 tap - some dancers take more... They then have a 2 hour company rehearsal on Saturday mornings.

Mary....
get your butt home from work and read your email! ;) hee hee

Looks like Mary & Mark & the Mouse family had a great time!

I love Jordan's new cut ... very cute on her.

Anyone get a glimpse of the lunar eclipse this morning? I went out at 5:40 am and caught a glimpse but then lost the moon. Not sure if it was hidden by cloud or went too low on the horizon.

Ang

Caleb and I went out at 4 am and watched the eclipse. It was so great to watch the stars get brighter and brighter as the moon got covered by the shadow. Makes us grateful that we live in the country with less light pollution.

I'm glad we don't have to worry about dance, but Caleb just started private guitar lessons. Not only do we have to pay $$ per month, but the studio is over by Millikin University, about 40 minutes from school and our house. He'll be 13 in 2 weeks! Oh, joy, a teenager in the house again...:confused3

The annual back to school paper shuffle and school supply run is now in its second day

At the elementary level, the kids can pre-purchase a school supply pack, it's in their classrooms ready and waiting the first day of school. In Intermediate school, even though we pick up books and schedules the week before school, the teachers include supplies in their syllabus. The syllabus isn't handed out until the first day of school. We did the supply run yesterday, but the Language Arts teacher didn't hand hers out until today - more supplies which are specific to her class - sigh...

Then there is the: "update this, acknowledge you've received this, send a check for this" forms...

I feel like I'm signing my life away...

The good news is, that Mike gets a set of books to keep at home, the teachers have their classroom sets...

I know what you mean Sandi. We got to see a lunar eclipse on our May '03 cruise. It was awesome. Looking at the stars that night was like something I thought I would never see. Just beautiful!

Maggie thinks she will have a great year in 5th grade- she's told me the important stuff about two of her three teachers ;)

Her home room teacher has pets named Vader and Princess Leia and her teacher's husband likes Elvis. The 2nd teacher rescues animals, she will bring in her parrot, hamster and a few other assorted wild animals... The parrot says "Good morning" and "Thank you..."

She hasn't said anything about the third teacher - what's more impressive than a talking parrot and pets named Vader and Princess Leia... :confused3 :lmao:

Good morning all - Sam called me this morning and told me to
1. Get out of bed.
2. Put on glasses
3. Put on clothes

and go outside and see the lunar eclipse...

It was neat.....

Congrats to Jim and Sharon an being awake for such a healthy sport in the am. I do not think I can give up sleep that easily.....

Back to work now.....Contrary to recent statements, I am traveling all week.

Hay
Anyone Watching The Moon Rise ??????????????????????????

Me, me, me... I was out walking the dog... it was beautiful! And, because the smoke from the fires is in the OTHER direction, I could actually see it.

Smoke was so bad on the way to work this morning that I had to stop, put on my hazard lights and my fog lights, and still couldn't see 5 feet to merge onto the major road at 70mph ... so I took my chances and gunned it, praying that no one was coming.

Hey Scubas... how did you run this morning...???? Pioneer Trail & 44 were horrendous!

Can someone please send rain?

I'm really proud of Sharon getting up at 5 am to go out and run.

It was a beautiful run this morning, but it is a lot of mornings. I'm just the only one up and enjoying them.

After running with Sharon I ran around Creekside and through Watersedge, but not that bad for the smoke. But it was a speed work day so I was gasping for air anyways.

Okay guys....if the insurance company approves it, I will be having surgery on both feet. One at a time, though.

I saw the orthopedic foot surgeon today and liked him. He won't do the "quick and easy" arthoscopic surgery, he says the success rate isn't too high. So this is what he'll do....starting with the left foot:

Make an incision in the heel, remove the bone spur, remove the damaged portion of the ligament (plantar fascia) and loosen (cut) the plantar fascia. He'll drill 3 holes into the bone in my heel and then finish by cutting the calf muscle.

I'll wear a non-weight bearing cast for 3 weeks, then a walking cast for 3 weeks and then have therapy.

Once it's all healed up, he'll repeat the procedure on the right foot.

I should have a schedule date by Friday.

Probably won't get the right foot done until we get back from our Christmas cruise.

Yikes! Sounds like you're going to need Jay and the kids to serve you after surgery! :)

Stacey -- yea, sounds like you are getting it done right. Hope it all works out and you will need to keep us posted.

WoW!! That would have been spectacular!!! No city lights to dim the view!!

Best of luck to you Stacey! Like OHMinnie said, you're definitely going to need lots of help. I hope things go smoothly with the 1st and you'll be looking forward to having the 2nd done.
